Jenna Porn Star Jameson name change

Greetings all,

I recently decided/realized that the name that I had chosen to play by "Jenna Porn Star Jameson" was 'coincidentally' the name of a person in real life that happens to be a pornographic movie star. In light of this development, I have had MindArk change my avatar name to "Jenna Star Mercury". Please note that it is also changed on the pK hof list proving that I am indeed the same player/avatar. I know the reasoning may seem odd, but I plan on also starting an investment business in PE shortly and I felt that the negative moral implications associated with having my former name heavily outweight the positive (if there even are any positives ). I'd appreciate it if those able to change the "Porn Star" name that I use for EF forum would please pm me here on EF and tell me the best course of action for that. Thank you and have fun in PE. I have posted the same message on EP also (copied and pasted since I'm lazy).

Well, if you are starting a business, then remember SEX SELLS!! So a name change may not help :D

That's a neat Trick PS - How'd you get MA to agree to do that? They won't change someone's password - but they'll change the entire avatar's name?

Oh yeah, and you're right...good move on changing it since you're thinking business now.
 
LOL =) MA didnt let me chance garnet til alexandros to Garnet Til Alexandros, and you get whole name chanced.. *doh!*

lol i dont trust for one single second your story about not knowing :D but yes i do understand the reasons to change and i find it a fine policy that MA only does this in special situations like this oh and the name should have been filtered at avatar creation cant belive MA dosnt have anything like that allready

lolz there is no way that you could not have known that!
 
My guess as to why MA allowed the name change is more than likely to avoid any possible copyright infringements seeing as how Jenna Jameson is a registered trademark.
 
yea i bet that the first jenna jameson threatend to sue.
 
Well I was in-game last night and I can confirm that PS *hasn't* had his/her name changed in PE. I'm sure the thread should have said I've asked MA to change it, not I've HAD....since we all know they simply don't do that sort of stuff.

The name in PK ATH is changed :confused:

100% Wrong ;)

PS Avatar is now "Jenna Star Mercury" scan 'her' also, check the Hof list, it is correct.

BUT on the PVP hof list, it is the old name still.
 
It is still Porn Star Jameson on my friend list btw... might want to ask them to change all references

u can change the name as u want and so it will stay like when it entered and that was the old name

It will also show same name as what you have in your FL when the person from your FL talk. You can f.ex change the name on your FL to "Dung collector" and you will see the following in public chat message when the same person that in your friend list are selling f.ex skill chips:

"Dung Collector: Selling skill chips"

100% wrong Kalashi ;)

On my FL it's still Jenna Porn Star Jameson - so it would seem that when MA makes a name change it's not entirely across the board (Which is REALLY bad programming...really bad.)

Maybe you should read the rest of this thread? i wont quote, but it shows you clearly not up on the workings of PE com's or avatar naming ;)

Whatever...change your name or not - Why should *I* have to manually edit it myself? If MA permits a name change (Which I didn't think they would do at all) then why wouldn't it change across the board? Seems silly to force players to manually make this change when a global database search and update could accomplish it for every table in the database..and every database. Thereby changing it on the HoF lists, FLs, etc.

Regardless of the me being "up on the workings of PE com's or avatar naming" it's simply being done in a slipshod, sloppy way. :D
 
Trakkur. I think that's exactly what they tried. But with my experience in databases and looking at some other stuff in the game, I somehow think the whole PE database is not properly normalised. This is a prime example.

Last night Pornstar globalled on a killing spree, but the name was changed elsewhere in the AHOF list. MA changed the name at one spot, but somehow the other one fell through. This usually means the database scheme has not been properly set up...

I'd offer my services helping MA solve this, but somehow I doubt they'd let a player even remotely come close to the database. There's also a clause in my contract prohibiting me doing it commercially, but I'll do it for a set of Supremacy :D

Well if they did that, then everyone that has his name renamed to "Porn Star" and "SuperSexBunny" would then be changed to Jenna Star Mercury or whatever it was. I'm sure MA didn't do this because not everyone would have wanted the nickname that they gave to his avatar reverted back to his avatar name.
 
seems sensiable to ask MA to change the name, as it could be seen as copyright and/or offensive.

about the name not changing in the friends list, you have the ability to change the names of your contacts within your friend list and this may be stored client side so the only way for MA to change the name on everyones friend list would to realease a patch.

(sorry for the short post but ive just gone and trapped my index finger in the door :mad: )
