How to prevent being overcharged - TT stuff guide

Hello Guys and Gals.

To celebrate the fact I unlocked two new skills, I decided I finally could take a short break from skilling and compose a little guide again. Lately, I’ve seen lots of stuff in auction that you can buy from the game directly through either the Trade Terminal, Technicians, Armorers, Tailors etc.

Most people might be aware of this, but I bet most newcomers are not. Other than that, it might be a useful reference guide for older players as well.

With the exception of blueprints with a value higher than 0.01 PED, do NOT pay more than the TT price for the items listed in this guide, as they are being sold by scumbags trying to scam you out of your money. If MB will allow it, I might just start posting screenies of auctions being run by people who try and get rich this way, and compile a list of names so you know who to watch out for.

One sidenote: Should you see a single probe or something in auction with an extremely high buyout, that usually is not a scam, but a way for people to transfer money to one another. The ones you want to be on the lookout for are those who mark up the stuff listed here with a few PEDs.

Tools

I made a seperate post about tools and crammed all the TT-tools in one big update. Important with tools is to take notice to the version of the tool. A Genesis Mineral Refiner MR100 is not as good as a MR200 for example. Higher versions therefor are worth more, and not available through the TT.

There's also some Non Player Characters (NPCs) who offer certain goods not available through the TT. It is exactly these items that most people don't know are commonly available that will be used for these scams.

the code on the a3 punisher mk1 is broken...well, its not in the right place (the price)oh, and maybe mindbuster can (re)move this post once VFalls updates it

Why would people use the auction for this when you can just as easily use the private trade screen? :confused:
 
It is good for transferring funds to a friend who is not online at the same time you are.

Great initiative VF, we need a list like this. Too many times have I seen TT and such items for outrageous prices in the auction. Thanks for helping the noobs like this. On a side not, if you see something in these lists that you can't get to the area, forget the high auction price. Give me a pm and I will be glad to go to the area and get the item for you, no charge. Save them PEDs for the important stuff (ammo and repairs)! :cool:

I have that planned. Thing was, I spent hours on this as it is. When I finished up page three, I was so damn tired I was going cross eyed. So rest assured, the rest WILL follow, and that includes the clothes from tailors and what not.

trading to a friend,

trading to another character. (remember it was legal before to have more then one character!)

as we all know, a manual only gets read when something goes seriosuly wrong :wise:
 
I think the simplest thing that could happen would be for MA to put a little line of info on all TT items stating that it can be bought from the game at TT value simply by visiting a blue terminal. This could be part of the explanation of trading actions.

Looking the list I realised I have kept selling Enknuckles-As in auction.
Did not realise they are tt stuff :eek: . Have not happened often,
usually I simply glance at auctions to set prices on my items. So not
all tt sellers are scumbags, they are stupidos and ignoramuses too.

I have completely purged my sin by buying a broken nano katana by 190 peds. I got 11 peds when I tt'ed it. :rolleyes: Did even guess that it is
possible to sell a broken L sword...

Tomorrow, I will not have to head to my project, so I'll finish up this guide with clothes and blueprints.

I am very much pondering including a collage of screenshots of peope either here or in the Scammer thread. So should you happen to have numerous auctions going for straight TT stuff, I would advise you to bite the PED auction fee as a loss and remove the items from auction tonight, otherwise it is highly likely people WILL have a reference and WILL not buy from you ever again.

I have the screenies completed of the Blueprints and clothes.

I'm adding them now, and will do the listing with the code-tags some time soon. Am working on a list of resellers. I thought I gathered some data already but lack the screenies. Prolly forgot to start Fraps.






 
Another chart that may be quite useful might be one showing items that are NOT available from places like tt, or specialty shops and how much over tt value you should expect to pay for said items (if anything). Just a thought. I'm still only about a month in so I'm still trying to learn the ins and outs myself. I've been scammed a couple times already (paid tt+10 for my first a103 and I had to repair it before I could even get it to work) so such a chart could prove to be pretty handy. Just my 2 pecs on the subject.

Clifton, the prices keep changing, and there are sites out there that are updated accordingly - have you tried any of these?

I visit mytwopecs on occassion but they don't list everything. I'll check out the other site though. :)

+rep for VFalls. I almost fell victim to this when I wanted to buy the Aa Neo Psion implant. I did not see it in the TT because you have to scroll down to see the surgical tools. :duh:
Fortunately for me, somebody outbid me and by that time one of my friends told me that it is available from TT. :)
