EBN News: Operation Scarecrow 20 Apr 2005

Randolph Vemlick responsible for public information at RDI (Research & Development Institute) announces Operation Scarecrow.

To all liable and competent citizens of Calypso! There is a need for brave robot hunters. Search and retrieve robot material for research purpose.

Since a couple of months robot activity on Calypso has changed pattern. Calypso authorities states that large scale attacks on cities have stopped. Only scattered robot activities with a few strange big gatherings has been reported for the last months.
A colonial investigation team has been sent out to wellknown robot sites to look for more clues about why the activity has decreased. Clues the team brought back from the expedition was of great concern. According to Randolph Vemlick at RDI the research department reported strange modifications to old wellknown robot techniques indicating large development steps in the robot evolution rather than stagnation.
This information led to intense activity at RDI. Unfortunately the few robot parts brought back from the expeditions rendered more questions than answers. Calypso authorities are speculating what this means, can it be the silence before the storm or is it just one of the ordinary development steps robots tend to take continuously?
To solve this mystery and get more conclusive information RDI are organizing a grand scale search called Operation Scarecrow. Scientists at RDI are interested in a few special parts to advance their investigations. See the item list below for items of interest and a reward corresponding to the item.

RDI Clerk Trob Tedser can be found in Atlas Haven, close to the teleporter on a couple of prescheduled occasions, see the time schedule below. Just initiate a trade with Trob, give him the items and the reward will be delivered.

Holy crap. That item better be cool as hell with those requirements... 10 rugaritz?? That alone is like 765 ped! Why dont they do some quests that an average level player can hope to complete.

I think that nuts. Anyone who completes it let us know what the item is you get! It should be pretty kick ass!

i was quite happy hunting atrox around Ithaca until the last quest - then everyone and their mother turned up and started shooting anything that moved.

what did I do?
Bought salamander +6a's and starting having fun with robots and now this

MA - I might buy viking next and start going after freezing mobs, just so you know in advance

D'Oh... just read the article on the loader. Makes a lot more sense now. I thought that was crazy to have to turn in all that stuff. Format here was just hard on my eyes!

I think these events/missions are good for the community and MA personally. Will I be out tanking one bot after the next? Probably not Evenso, there are many ppl that hunt them and I like the idea that they can get some good payback. Also, these events we've been seeing lately lead me to believe there are more to come .... exciting indeed

MA realized that not only is it fun for the people who are participating.. but they make a shit load of money on ammo and repairs. I would say they would be crazy not to hold these events every couple of weeks.

The more we all put in, the more we all take out!

woot thats like wish granted number 6 for me now. I suggested months ago about quests where you get one item for another looted item.

This is a awesome inititive that MA has done. I see more and more of these quest's comming. This one is realy great because realy mid level and up can participate. Uber players can go solo and weeker ones can team up and even split the rewards if put there Robot Amp's together for the reward.

I was in T-Rex cast and think i saw some of those parts in there i wonder if he'll "cash them in".

this is true.

The other problem with quests is that once word is out everyone is on it. If I bump into SWAT and porn star SW of echidna once more saying "have u seen warlock" I'll scream.

Maybe MA should think about running several quests at the same time - to split up server load and to give different levels of players something to do at the same time.

one target to get shot at while fapping another faps him to help keep him alive. whlie other 4 shoot.

well it's an idea havn't tried it yet but worth a try at least on the smaller bots.

operation scarecrow..

i have some questions regarding this operation scarecrow thing...

it says they want 5 amplifiers.. with a reward of 450 iron ingots... is that per amplifier, or only given if 5 are offered???

this affects the price that i would be willing to buy them at..
if it's each then that's 175.5 ped per amplifier.. but if it's for all 5, then it's only 35.1 per amplifier...

also, is this a first come first served thing, or will everyone with 5 amplifiers or a second entity head etc, get their reward..

obviously the answer to the question is unknown at this point, as the rep hasent appeared yet
