This is semi-related to skill levels.. As I think what you hear depends on your skill levels

Anyone enter an SC lately and hear voices?

I hear voices.. I always thought it was people scanning auctioneers or other avatars, because its always something 'murmur murmur professional! murmur'

what does everyone else hear?

Let's see, when I first logged on after Vu7.3, it told me "You have the gift to be a great miner" or something like that.
I've heard, "You are very generous" & one other that I can't remember.

I'm very curious to see what evryone else has heard.
 
Mediocre is on all the lists as starting at 70, but actually you get mediocre at 67 ;)

at least i have on every skill thats reached it... same with other avatars, mediocre starts at 67

yes, i know what you mean, i noticed it last night. i usually listen to music with winamp, but my audio stream lost connection, so i heard what youre talking about. but its not just voices, its music too, which is totally annoying. its subliminal messaging crap... i heard a couple different things, most of them encouraging you to spend more ped. things like 'you are a gifted crafter, go craft something' then some nice techno music, then its gone, then it comes back after like 5 mins.

please turn this crap off! very annoying for people listening to music with winamp! i have the music turned down for a reason, i dont want to have to turn off the sound effects too!!!
 
I thought this was a joke at first, but now when more and more people began to talk about it, I had to look it up. I never noticed anything as I'm usually playing without sounds.
But take a look at the audio files from 493744.wav to 493767.wav.
It's a total of 23 of these wierd audio files, they're basicly telling you everything, here's a few of the 23 sound files.

"You are generous, adopt a newbie or two."
"You are amazing, you can build the best guns."
"Be one of the best hunters, use Fire Forge weapons."
"You are interesting, chat with me."
"You are curious, learn to construct items."
"You have the gift, be the best miner."
"You love a challenge that counts, find out more about our space travelling."

You can always disable the techno music, etc, by removing the sound files from the sounds directory, either that or replacing it with an empty file.
Just a small tip if you really find it anoying.

Thanks Recoda....that's good to know that i'm not insane.....so yeah, these are ways to convince us to spend more money. It almost worked on me lol...but I'm poor. :tongue2:

Without having gone ingame to check, it seems to me this list is not up-to-date?
i think you get specialist on 4100 now, for a start, and not 4000?
Some of the rank numbers i think got changed with VU 7.4...
Its a good list regardless, but id love to know if its updated and confirmed after the skillsystem changes..

i think theres another slowdown in the 1.7k vicinity...
id rep you for this one, but since you were neither the one who wrote it, nor the one who gathered the info, i find it hard to justify doing so....


as for the sounds... i have never heard these, i play with no volume... good to hear people talking about this sort of stuff, because id never know otherwise :D too funny, lol...

And just exactly HOW did you get that from the PE database you said?

The only way to be able to get info like that from the PE database is to "tamper with the client or server/client communication" and its againste the EULA.
If its the data that was retrieved by some other guy that hacked the DB a couple of years ago, it might be outdated, thats also why I asked Shadow-ale if he had confirmed his list after the skill system changes in the last couple of V.Us..

I have specialist in some skills having less then 4.1k.
I think specialist still come when you get 4k.

Yeah, I think most of the lists are outdated now... mine is older than VU 7,4. But I never really heard about any other change than Mediocre at lvl-67.

I just stumbled across this list, and yes, I have to agree with this :)
Mediocre starts at 67, not at 70 like all the lists say.

Sorry for taking this OT again, but +rep for this :D I joined at the start of 7.4 so not known anythnig different. In game music went off almost straight away, but bloody annoying that i have to have winamp off if im trading at auction with the backgroud music, and annoying voice telling me im a sucker... spend more ped!

Im now thinking of changing all the .wma music files to Kaiser Chiefs - Every day I love you less and less just to reverse the subliminal rubbish my brain has had to absorb in the past few months ;)

10k is not max, but skills are very slow until 10k and also after 10k.

I am not sure what the most skilled person has as max skill atm, but I think it is near 13k or so, if I am not wrong about it.
