Home decoration contest :the winner claimed to work for MA !

Hi all.

We all have seen that MindArk has chosen Skalman as the winner of the contest so he won a full Supremacy armor set.
This set value is quite high and might be around the full shadow armor value as its unique at the moment.

So where 's the problem?
His house might be nice,i havenot visited it yet but screenshots dont convince me to.I know a lot of other houses that are more beautiful than Skalman's house.

Well ,how would you feel if you join the contest and then know that the winner claimed he worked for MindArk?

Of course,you didnot know that or very few of us knew.

1 year ago ,Skalman told me things that he probably forgot ...
I decided to keep it for myself as long as Skalman was clean.

But how the beep can he dare to win the Home decoration contest?
(And that might be the visible part of the iceberg.)

So i decided to share my thoughts and my EVIDENCES .

I know many people among you all spent much peds to decorate their own apartments or houses.

We can see 2 things .

First : Skalman claims he works for MindArk by promoting the game, doing boxes for the game(?) , scriptwriting and game-designing.

Second : Skalman talks about the plan.The plan to "take care " of non -depositers. To me it sounds like the plan to make PE worst for everyone .
In fact,in the light of time , we can see that Skalman was totally right and knew about everything coming .Why?
Because in May 2004 ,there was not these features yet :
-
-no loots.
-first slowdown of avatars
-new and bad skill system
-blind radar
-overspawning of mobs
-Skill transfer system
-Second slowdown of avatars when you use tool or weapon
-Removal of the wandering soul.
-Forbidden trapping
-Maximum value of sweat bottles per mob
-Oilrig barracks unclimbable
-20 seconds logout.
-Robots running
etc...etc.....and many others .

He just admitted that he knew what was coming : making PE a place where big Credit Cards have the highest chances to survive..

I dont care what MindArk can say if its true or false since i know ,we know,that i m showing evidences.
Other people already,well known avatars, told me about their thoughts that Skalman was an employee of MA .Though ,i didnot tell them about the screenshots.

But now with the contest result ,i m forced to share the truth .
You can give me bad rep ,or whatever ,but i know that i kept right with myself by sharing the truth.

The main question is :
Did MindArk make Skalman winner because of his actual decoration or because he [claimed] worked for MA?
As you know there was many great houses ...And i cannot accept someone claiming he works for MA winning an MA contest .period.

PS @ MindBuster : I m showing evidences.Therefore there is nothing wrong.
PS @all MA staff : You must notice that i m saying Skalman claimed he worked for MA .
 
I wasnt in the contest so I am pretty non-biased. I dont think any people that work or have worked for MA should be even considered in the contest. Its just not fair for anyone. The judges should go in non-biased. Though I havnt seen his house in game, The screenshots clearly show that it looks like a real house with a rugish look.
 
i like skalman - he was my in-game god. he was the only MIB to actually speak to me when I first strated playing, none of the others would even give me the time of day.

I don't think is a paid-up member of MA's staff, although I must admit I had a conversation with him a loooong time ago and he told me things that made me wonder if he worked for MA - that could have been down to my lack of knowledge though.

With regards to the competition, every competition I have ever seen has always stated that it is not open to employees or relitives of employees of the company running the competition. so I guess unless he has a working contract and is paid by MA then he isn't technically an employee.

I would think ETOPIA knows more about him than most of us and can probably enlighten us all :)

Sorry,i understand why you say this .But since you know Etopia is also a Warants member ,so you know that she is also his advocate.

no, I think ETOPIA is a very truthful and honest person and will say things the way they are without any bullshit.
 
Some players have good relationship to MindArk, some have not...

Some players get landareas as present from MindArk, some not...
Some players get Armor sets as present from MindArk some not...

fair or unfair towards all other heavily deposting PE-junkies?
thats the question...
 
i know etopia for very very long time .
She is truthful yes .But she always defend her business .
Thats why i know she is advocate of Skalman.You will see by yourself if she post ..very subjective answer. no offence to Etopia, we all defend our socs :)

Oh come on now! If MA gives something to someone in-game as a gift for them doing something to help MA (Like marketing, script writing, bug hunting, etc.) then those are completely and totally justified.

BUT if employees, or consultants (Past or present, paid or not) are allowed to enter contests and win prizes or get in-game benefits of ANY kind over paying customers then this is a complete and total travesty.

Sadly though it happens in every game, and there is no way to prove or disprove it at all. Regardless of what folks may say, or be believed to have said, we can't prove anything. Screenshots can be faked (Not saying you did Francine - but they can be.), emails can be spoofed..folks can even :Gasp: lie to someone to make themselves seem more important then they really are. :gasp:

In the end everyone has to look at this and deal with it in their own way. I choose to simply ignore it and go on about my PE life.
 
I thought his house kicked ass... There are others that "could have won" but there is no reason to be suspicouse of his win because, well... it was a damn good submission! Realistic and very clean. :)

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. :wise:

I agree with MA's decision even though I was rooting for others to win.

Grats to him.. no need to rain on his parade. :(
 
That was just a passing suggestion - I don't want anyone to feel they have to validate any other player, there are quite a few people who can talk on Skalman's behalf but maybe someone should invite him to come here and speak for himself.
I do get the impression that even if he did come here and say 'I do not work for MindArk', it wouldn't be enough.

If he works for MA or not?. well he may do, May not,

If he do, He shouldent had won, if he dont work for MA.. Well then he played by the rules...

I agree that his house definately rocked, but I don't think folks are complaining about his entry not being worthy (It most certainly was)...but rather it not being valid if he's working for MA in any capacity.

... this may not be the best decorated home on Calypso. In fact, I was bothered by the lighting from the begining!

But to loss fifth place to an MS Paint "Cartoon," and then to here these rumors, it troubles me to no end :(

Lol..MS paint pics was allowed? BWAHAHAHAHAHA..thats so silly..and yeah,I known Skalman has been affiliated to MA for over 1 year..known about it since Neverdie got revealed as a MA spokesman by a US pr firm mishap :tongue2:
 
The results of this event has led me to distrust the event idea in the game...it will be interesting to see who wins with this thorifoid thing
 
Whether or not there's a point of questionable objectiveness, I still think MA missed an opportunity. Skalmans house is great no doubt, but let's be honest there were/are plenty of houses that could compete, MA picked another uber as winner and I think for the community as a whole and for the reputation of the events it was better if a 'not so uber' won it. All the other events are already kinda bending towards the ubers... It's at least a defendable argument MA does everything to get everyone to deposit as much as possible :yup:

And if Skalman really worked/works or did anything for MA then this wasn't a smart move by them.

Just my :twocents:

First off you didn't "lose" fifth place, but instead didn't get a consolation prize that MA decided to give for some reason...you're entry is nice...but the Artist Rendering entry is simply amazing IMHO.

Not to take away from anyone else of course, beauty IS in the eye of the beholder.
 
it sounds more like skal 'may' have worked as a freelancer...

so winning the price makes it pretty sure he doesnt worka nymore for them..

like others e.g. legion..

so i dont see a problem

..i think some houses like trixies would have been more my choice..

but it really doesnt matter as those ppl with fully decorated houses dont really

need another set of armore me thinks.
 
i think we need an official word from MA on this. Marco where are you...? or would someone submit a support case, and post the results here?

at this point, the evidence is pretty damning. if skalman does work/has worked for MA, be it contractor or whatever, then he should not be eligible, bottom line.

this is another nail in the coffin for PE... if MA doesnt clear this up and give us straight answers, i think im going to be looking elsewhere for gaming goodness.

if its just a rumor, and its not true, then we need to know. if it is true, thats pretty sloppy, and very upsetting.

I really am remaining neutral. Sure, if some1 has been a paid employee of MA they should not be allowed to partake in such competitions. But, as others have stated, we simply do not know with the case of Skalman.

I have a few apartments and delighted in decorating them for my personal enjoyment. However, I did NOT participate in the contest. It was quite simply a way to get ppl to pump money into game to buy furnishings with the hope of winning the grand prize. I do hope that, in order for the event to have been justified, MA tells the community with 100% certainty that the winner has never worked for MA. Otherwise, there will be a great lack of trust by many PE participants.

As a quick side note.... I do feel that Skalman's house was worthy of the prize... not that there were not others equally as worthy but in such a subjective contest there can be only one winner of the grand prize.
 
I really don't see much evidence of anything other than he may have done a bit of freelancing or something similar - certianly not damning evidence.

If he did work as a freelancer/consultant in the past so what?
 
What is amazing to me is that people actually think that MA is so bold and ignorant to give a public prize to someone for any other reason than winning the competition fair and square.

They could just give the armor to anyone for any reason if they wanted to.

I think it is rather immature to suggest that MA awarded the prizes in any other fashion or with any other motives than the stated in the rules or the winning announcement.

Then again, I am not 15 years old so maybe I have an advantage from where my point of view comes.

I for myself was very surprised as I heard I have made 3rd Place on this Event, I never thaught about it and Im hell happy that I had this luck :eek:

I decided very very short time before the taking Part time was over that I want to try to join.

Some people out of my Socy UnB motivated me to take part.

I ever thaught, hell you never will have a chance........ hell....... how many players may take Part on it and have lots and lots of Money in Game or IRL...... and hell you only have a small little beachhouse, nothing really big.....

this all were thaughts I had myself and wich made it very difficult for me to make this step to take part on this Event.

Sure, I know some of Warants Socy, like NEVERDIE, ETOPIA, with Skalman I never talked that much so I cannot say and I did not want to say anything about that he won the Contest because I am a neutral person since I play PE and thats like 3 years now.

but for sure, I was thinking that maybe Deathifier or NEVERDIE will win, or maybe someone out of cK Clan.... I was surprised about that skalman won now and Im not angry about.


and yes oki, I would start to think mad about if he would win next comming Events too..... but this time I only want to say Grats to Skalman.


and I think in a way maybe for everyone if poor or rich will come a good an lucky time inside PE.

Not a thing to be depressive and very angry about, only a thing to try to become a social thinking part of PE and not a Uber and Uber skilled and Uber rich Player......

I think primary PE is a game wich is fun and nice way to meet nice people and have fun inside :grouphug:

Actually you raise a valid argument DD. In the past, MA HAS given out items to players for seemingly no reason (most of us have been around a while and recall those items and the players that have received them... no use in digging up an old grave atm).
But, MA took heat (and rightfully so imo) for doing that. Recall the threads on EP about that? :D So, to play Devil's Advocate DD, perhaps MA is getting more sly now? hehehe....

But really, I am agreeing to a point here. MA can and does give out items.

Do you for one minute believe:

1) They'll tell us.
2) They'll tell us the truth.
3) They'll even bother to comment at all.

The fact of the matter remains that the only people that know the truth are Skalman and MA, and there is NO way they are telling, besides whatever they say someone is BOUND to complain and say they're lying anyway.

It's really a non-issue IMHO. What's done is done. Someone will ALWAYS find something to complain about, this is just another example.
 
im not gonna take sides here.
i dont care why skalman got the house, either for working for it for MA or by buying the stuff w/o ever working for MA. heck, i didnt even take part in the event as i knew some uber would win as always, and i thought that was ok, becouse they will have spend way more on the game then getting with this armor. so everyone cool down, go outside, wait a few minutes and then come back here with a clear mind. Man, i think his house looked cool, and i wished i had it. but, now we have got this thread, and we have got that neverdie thread, and perhaps even more i dont recall, but i think its just yealousie off all of you that did not win. so now quit complaining, Play PE, get more skills, hope for an uber hof, and maybe one day you will win a contest or quest, and be prepared: u will be attacked with all of the stuff you said to people ingame or on the forums.
