I've said what i always have regarding NFT's and whenever it is mentioned as something people want in EU. Personally, i don't care to much about NFT's themsevels, nor do i mind crypto. But I do care for EU as a game, and want to see the grame grow and expand.
Entropia Universe, is a game, I think we can all agree on that. And this is where I see the issue with introducing NFT's. Yes, addding either NFT's or crypto to EU does make a lot of sense at the end of the day, it fits the game in nuances from not at all to perfectly, overall it just "makes sense".
But, as a game i would love to see EU grow, when i first heard about UE5, that is a huge great thing, even if people largely seem missinformed and worried about needing a new computer, most people just don't know that the current EU engine, is more demanding than UE5 unless you intentionally make it awfull.
I saw it and thought holy heck, this might get the game to gain a lot of attraction, i got friends who was interested in the game because of RCE and it
not involving crypto or NFT's.
And that is the issue, my friends are quite normal gamers, sometimes painfully normal. And the normality in the gamer side of the games industry is what i've said before and people spam dislikes at me for, people, do not, like, NFT's or crypto.
Just googling "NFT and gamers" and you get bombarded with all of the waves of hatred gamers have for NFT's such as (just taking the first google results that aren't ads):
The next chapter of NFT-based gaming is currently being written, and there are limitless possibilities for both disruption and value creation.

Theres countless amounts of it. Call it ignorant sheep or what you want, it is undeniably a issue that there is such a absolute strong distaste for it, especially NFT's.
Another game i play, mentioned the mere word "nft" in a public statement and it was a technology they was keen on trying out. With no mention to any game, or title. but people in FFXIV showed me that, NFT's + games = very not much good.
The company seems to have a habit of diving headfirst into buzzy industry trends without testing the waters.

Again, to be precise i personally dont mind NFT's and do find that stuff interesting, i've wanted to try making my own art into NFT's. But the FFXIV debarkle showed me just how insanely ravaging it could be in a community and what impacts it had on a game.
FFXIV when the statement came, had a mass influx of influencers, youtubers, and streamers, many who did not even mainly play the game, rallying together flooding in purely to shout at square enix for mentioning it. All at the same time driving out a lot of poeple who were playing the game who disagreed so much with the statement they just up and left.
EU, is not a big game, we do not have a lot of people. So having seen just how ravaging introduction of NFT's have been in other games, or just how insane the backlash it can produce or rallying hatred a game can receive for just having its company mentioning it. I saw the NFT iwth a huge concern in "well that just seals the deal on growing with UE5".
Will EU grow, possibly, we'll maybe get a influx of "crypto clowns" (people who just struck rich on crypto, have no idea what is going on or what they are doing, buying the most expensive shit and quitting leaving a lot of valuable items on dormant accounts never to be seen.), lots of crypto gamers, and maybe a handfull of people who are interested in the game.
EU was a RCE game, it will never by any gamer be known as that any more once we do have NFT's in the game, no matter how who or what, it will be known as a NFT game by every "normal" person. and that will at least as it is now, and has been for a while, make it near impossible to attract any normal gamer to come and try the game. Not that there wont be any at all, but the potential drastically went down as the selling point i've seen EU being, is that its a RCE game, sidestepped from Crypto Currencies and so on, no need to worry about that. Can't do that anymore.
also, anyone who think the eggs are it, nah, it will just be the start. and we will likely start to see a lot more NFT's one can buy and god help us that they wont end up abundant and ruin the economy to much. I mean hell, once the eggs "hatch" and pop out minions i'm calling it now, the tezlapod will look like a nusul pet in comparison to what utter beasts those things will be in terms of buffs.
TLDR I was sad and dissapointed to see the NFT news, not because i'm against NFT's but because of how ravaging it can and so far has been for companies who introduce it, and how much it stunts the playerbase growth potential of a game. Time will tell but id personally wish to see a huge influx of normal gamers primarily with maybe crypto gamers inbetween them, instead of primarily seeing a few crypto whales coming to stay, with maybe one or a few normal gamers.
