The wind howled through the trees. FireW0lf sighed as he checked his personal radar, and again saw no path to safety. The attack had been fierce and unexpected. There had not been time to warn ultimababe and she was in a bad way. Her breath came in ragged, painful gasps as she looked up at him, determination still glinting in her eyes

A quick check of his first aid pack proved what he already knew. He could make his life companion more comfortable, but they were not going to hold out much longer

While administering fast aid, FireW0lf's thoughts drifted back to the previous day, where things had been so much different...

They were sprinting across the barren deserts east of Twin Peaks. FireW0lf's spirits soared. The hunt was on, and he was among good friends, warriors all.

FireW0lf took a moment to look around at his companions: phatal, long time comrade and frequent hunting partner, striking in orange and black armour gleaming in the late afternoon sun; Crys in matching armour. Neither FireW0lf nor ultimababe had hunted with her before, but knew by reputation that she would be the first to head into the most fearsome predators. And Kalashi. She was an enigma to most of the people that FireW0lf knew on Calypso. She was an eye catching figure with a ready laugh. She found humour in any situation, however dire it might seem. But she was frequently trouble and had a fiery temper: FireW0lf knew by bitter experience that one wrong word and she would turn on him and any of his companions instantly, and think nothing of leaving them dead or dying. She was all the more dangerous in that she never wore armour of any kind, yet still bested everything she came across. FireW0lf made a mental note to look into her past to try and fathom out why she was this way

"Enemy spotted!" came a cry from phatal. FireW0lf checked his radar, and sure enough a blinking red spot had appeared far to the south east. phatal instantly veered off towards it, yelling "Attack!" in a fierce voice

The team charged across the sparse plains, drawing their weapons as one and moving into battle formation while still moving. All were seasoned warriors and nobody needed to be told where to position themselves for optimal attack force

As the red dot grew closer on his radar, FireW0lf scoured the landscape, trying to determine what awaited them. As his eyes lighted on a glint reflecting from the waning sun, he paused for a split second at what he saw

"Warrior Gen 3" he warned to his team mates though the intercom, hoping to have chance to get into a slightly better position for attack on this particular type of robot

Kalashi continued at a fast sprint, her black and orange clothes seemingly mocking the Nemesis armour that so many warriors favoured. FireW0lf saw her aim and fire in one smooth motion, uncaring whether her companions were ready or not

As the mob turned and headed towards them FireW0lf raised his own weapon to his shoulder, hearing shots simultaneously from both sides: The ozone blast of laser fire, and the rat-a-tat of a high calibre BLP. FireW0lf fired himself and was rewarded with seeing the health of the robot reduce on his monitor

The battle was violent but short. A mere few shots more from each of the team members and the foe was a smouldering pile of metal fragments. FireW0lf saw Kalashi step up to inspect the remains, and heard a shout of triumph as she returned holding a large orange object in both hands. A grin split here face wide as she declared "That'll do nicely... Should fetch a pretty penny for a Nemesis harness, especially a male one"

Soon after, the team disbanded, with a promise to meet up later to divide the spoils

If only every day was as good as this one...

ultimababe stood up, looked herself over, and said quite simply "Bitch." FireW0lf smiled. she was nothing if not succinct. "Right, we gonna try and get out of this mess, or we gonna sit and have a tea party?" At that she checked her own radar, looked around to see which mob was closer, grabbed her gun and leaped forward

FireW0lf cursed even as he raced after her, his own weapon coming naturally into his hands. "Getting low on ammo here" he called after checking his cell pack

"Same here, but unless we wanna wake up dead tomorrow, we better make the most of it" she growled as she put her eye to her weapon sight and fired

FireW0lf thought even as he fired his own gun, damn these Atrox seemed so much tougher. It was almost as if a change were taking place in them. Before, it had been almost laughably easy to wipe the seeming smile from the face of the Atroxes. Visually they had not changed, yet they seemed so much stronger, more difficult to kill

Suddenly FireW0lf grinned, and thought "Well, this is good a way of dying as any. If we go, we go as warriors, and will be welcomed by Lootius and given our rightful place." Pain ripped through his arm as the Atrox Old bit through his armour and its teeth embedded in his flesh. FireW0lf gritted his teeth, growled in anger, and continued to fire

The fight seemed to last an eternity. Every time they bested one creature, another seemed almost instantly to take its place. One, two, five, ten, thirty. FireW0lf had long stopped counting, having only the time to concentrate on aiming his next shot, and checking his own and ultimababes health

Blood was everywhere. Both their armours were covered, and the ground about them littered with tattered remnants of shredded flesh. Who knew if the blood was their own, or that of the monsters they were fighting?

"Out of ammo" he informed ultimababe as yet another predator descended upon them. He grabbed his fast aid pack and grunted as he saw the few small medical items remaining in it. They were not going to make it

"Catch!" FireW0lf instinctively reached up and caught the pack of cells and jammed them into his gun in a smooth motion, continuing around to raise weapon, aim, and fire in one precise movement. While the gun reloaded, he looked down at the pack she had given to him. Less than a hundred rounds. Better make every shot count, he warned himself

As he saw ultimababe taking damage, he charged forward, stepping in front of her to try and take the damage himself. Protect her for as long as he could was the last thing he could do for her. He laughed loudly as she cursed him for getting in her way, but didn't care. If they were to die, he wanted to die first, as he couldn't bear the thought of watching her get torn apart by these savage monsters

"There's a gap north" ultimababe yelled heatedly, while side-stepping around to re-aim her weapon. "I'm down to less than fifty shots left, so it's now or never"

FireW0lf landed harshly as another Atrox smashed into his bruised and battered body. "I'm out. All I can do is fap you." He wearily raised himself to his feet and stepped behind ultimababe, wincing every time he saw the creature take a lunge at her. "That's my fap away too. You better do this girl!"

ultimababe yelled out a yell of triumph as her last shot burned through the damaged skull of the Atrox, sending it crashing dead to the ground, shaking the earth around them

"Now!" he cried, and headed for the small opening that was thankfully still there on his radar

"Not until I've checked this swine over. It might have eaten a nice rich merchant for it's lunch" She stooped over the corpse, blood pouring freely from her side and leg, She swiftly cut open it's stomach and shoved both hands in, deftly feeling for the stomach. As her hands landed on a hard irregular lump she again let out a cry of pleasure, as she raised aloft a large leather bag of gold. "Nearly ninety PED here! Should keep up going a while longer"

With that she raced up to FireW0lf, paused to kiss him passionately, and with a cheeky grin on her pretty face asked "Same again tomorrow then?" and ran north, heading for Fort Ithaca, and at last, safety

Words of the month

"Malarky"

"Gibbering nonsense"

Use them often :D

It was a bright breezy morning in the village of ComeBoobAlot, and Bertie decided that it was time for a picnic with his pal Freddy the Frog

Bertie took some cold boiled eggs out of the microwave, and set about filling his basket with an assortment of goodies, including chips and custard sandwiches, and a few family-sized meat pies to nibble on the way in case he got peckish

After telephoning Freddy to demand that he turn up instantly to drive them to the countryside, Bertie went into the bathroom and gave his toes a damn good scrubbing. He then proceeded to whittle a pig out of his own buttock, whilst whistling discontentedly

Freddy finally arrived, and soon whisked then both away, after a sound thrashing about the elbows by Bertie

As they sped along, Bertie amused himself by pelting random passers-by with rampantly fetid sandwiches which still remained on the back seat from the previous picnic

Bertie loved picnics, and was thoroughly looking forward to it. He absently nibbled a frozen pizza, while imagining all the fun they were going to have

Then an Atrox Stalker came by and ate Bertie, Freddy, and the car

The End

<Sigh>

So this is an actual diary entry, rather than the drivel I put in here before

We've been on broadband with this particular ISP (Tesco.net) since we moved into this flat - about 8-9 months ago

Not long after we got it, we started having problems, falling offline for a couplo hours here there and everywhere - sometime 2 or 3 times a day

We phoned the technical support number (50p a minute...) and got it sorted in about a week or so

Well, kinda. The ADSL still continued to go offline for 5-10 minutes, still at the same frequency. Not too big a deal, we'd just grab a coffe and wait

Then 6th of June it went off. Period. Nothing.

So, again we phoned tech sup (50p/min remember). They go thru the usual scripted help (have you checked your cables/settings etc) to drag the call out for as long as possible.

A week passes (Tesco.net state that they have a 3 day response time from BT (the phone company who own the line that the ADSL uses) ) and..... nothing

So we phone back. Daily. Half of the calls we make, when we speak them the next time, they have no record of - basically the PFY at the other end of the phone has just done the "Yeah", "No", "Okay" thing on us

Nearly a month later, we finally get a BT engineer, who replaces the line from the cab upto the exchange. voila. We have broadband back :D

......for 6 days :(

It's now the 6th of July (see a pattern emerging?) and yup - ADSL is back off again. Tesco.net state that they have no server issues, and that our account is fine. BT state that they have no exchange issues

Looks like we'll be waiting another month for broadband to return. How many more phonecalls will we be making?

Last month the phonecalls came to over £50 - that's $87USD or Є73 Euros

Kinda expensive business this...

I'll keep you updated on how long it takes us this time to get back online (using a 56k modem right now - NOT fun)

Been a long time since I posted anything in here...

Anyway, Skam created https://www.planetcalypsoforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55791, which really got me thinking. And cos it was also Valentines day yesterday, it also made me think how our feelings affect how we see things at any given time...

This lot then fell out of my fingers (and no - I'm not an emo tard - just being creative :D )

---

As he awoke and opened his eyes, he looked out of his window, and was dazzled by the clean, clear, warm azure blueness of the morning sky. The sea shimmered with soft foamy whitetops, beckoning all to enter

He turned around to view an even greater vision of loveliness: Her face in repose was so gentle, so relaxed, that he couldn't help but smile. Gently he reached over to tease away a renegade lock of hair that had draped itself across her face. Unable to help himself, he leaned across and softly kissed the side of her mouth, and again smiled at the sleepy frown that momentarily appeared on her visage

As he got out of bed, he was careful not to disturb her - it had after all been an extremely late night for both of them

After switching on the shower to warm up, he went into the kitchen and started to prepare things for breakfast

Back in the bathroom, he stepped under the shower and closed his eyes, letting the scalding hot water ease his aching muscles as he recalled the previous evening

They were a little tipsy when they got back, and talk had moved from general subjects, to something more intimate. The undressing had started gently enough; buttons being carefully unfastened while the talk continued, but rapidly the kisses had become harder, more wanton, and in turn the undressing became a hurried tearing off of clothing that appeared to be doing its best to hamper them

He grinned at the memory as he rubbed his body down. Then, wrapping the towel around his waist, he returned to the kitchen to cook breakfast. As the smell of bacon permeated the air, he stepped through to the lounge to pick a rose out of the vase to place on the tray, and the smell again made him think of the smell they created the night before

The night had seemed to pass in a frenzy. Their bodies melded together, pressed tight against each other, as their breathing got faster and shorter. Again and again they had reached out to one another until, finally exhausted, they collapsed into a deep contented sleep with his arms wrapped firmly around her, her back snugly against his chest

He made up the tray, and walked into the bedroom. Placing the tray on the bedside table, he sat on the edge of the bed, leaned forward, and gave her a long slow kiss to rouse her from her slumber. As her eyes opened and met his, he was interrupted by a loud buzzing sound...

As he awoke to the noise of the alarm clock, he reached across to switch it off, and looked out of his window. The clear sky, with its cold, uninviting blueness seemed to echo his mood. The sea, waving with frothy whiteness looked a barren desolate field

He stood under the shower for a long time, trying to let the hot water wash away the lonely ache that seemed to permeate throughout his body, as he contemplated the mundane day he had ahead of him

She was so very far from him, but why did his thoughts constantly return to her? To her eyes, her smile, the way she never said what she felt or thought... Would he ever get the chance for his dream to become a reality?

He smiled as he towelled himself dry. Nothing is impossible, he thought to himself. If he was that attracted to her, then only he could make it happen
