Logged in this morning and were like WTF when i saw nr. 2 and 3 on hunting hofs! som dude had a 8723 argo and 8501 argo within 12 houers! so i had to look him up on tracker and he only had a total loot in hunting globals/hofs before the 2 loots on 485 peds! com on MA! just did the argo mission a few weeks ago same time as a soc m8 and our biggest loots were 153(Mine) and i think his were 158 peds! WTF MA
 
A person getting it good does not entail that a system is not fair - after all there is this thing called luck.

To say that someone is lucky, therefore the system being used is not fair would be an unwarranted jump.

Consider any lottery, every winner of them is certainly a lucky bastard, but is a lottery system "unfair". Of course not, everyone has an equal chance. Similarly, now and again we will expect to see someone get several good loots in a row from many fair systems.

In fact, as unlikely as it sounds, you would expect to see someone get more than 2 good loots long before you would expect to see yourself get 1 good loot.

If i was a new guy hitting that...hell id tell all my friends to come and try this new game ...ITS AWSOME !!! Then again if i been around a while, i can just tell all my friends in game chat :silly2: You get it, it helps :yup:
 
So you do want a non random loot distribution?

Do you know if this guy/girl hunts in teams a lot or not, do you know how much this person deposits?

until anyone can answer this for any avatar, i wish everyone would stop crying about loot and go hunt or mine or whatever and you might get some....

The guy got a 16k uber in 2 parts.

What is the problem exactly? Don't like new players having a chance to get a serious kickstart?

lol someone are getting mad=) well when you look at his globals before i don't think he hunt bigger maby in teams but who knows! allso just because he have deposited 100k peds and have it all on his ped card don't say why he should get 2 big argo ubers within a few houers! allso when ppl say it's random it looks verry strange for a person to get 2 big loots like that and nothing elles! don't think he only soloed 2 mobs within that time!

Like it or hate it, this is exactly the sort of thing a random system will produce from time to time. If nobody ever got two big HoFs in a day, that would be pretty solid proof the system isn't random.

The occasional fluke event doesn't make the system biased. To show that you'd have to do a proper statistical analysis comparing how often (ie. how much PED cycled) new players get HoFs compared to how often experienced players get HoFs. Data on Entropia Tracker could help.

I assume you want to go from unlucky to lucky. That's easy, you just need to get lucky ;)

(although I'd advise not playing for HoFs and playing for markup instead, and let the HoFs come to you when they come)

PS I know of two occassions when someone won the jackpot in the national lottery twice. And the lottery is pretty damn random. And the example above isnt even an ATH when they are put together

Not only that, but I'm guessing the national lottery is a much bigger payout than this.
 
I'am slightly disappointed that Argo's dropped 2 ubers in the space of just 12 hours. I'm very disappointed that it could not of been me while I was out hunting argo days/nights on end trying to finish the iron challenge. But you know what, I'm not dissappointed that one person got all the loot, because I know if it can happen for one avatar it can most certainly happen to me as well, in which case I congratulate the looter Hylander. Top Game Man... no hard feelings here, if I should start resenting the game for the way it pays out its loots then I'm sure I'll be bitter always and leave soon. I don't want that to happen. Grats Again HYLANDER!
 
It's happened before and the chance of it happening again is huge, almost certain - the chance of it happening to you (or me) is very, very small.

Tracker is evil when used as judge of merit, and like any evil, it poisons those who fall under its spell.

I'd be more accepting of that likelihood if within 24 hours there hadn't also been a 99k levi to a guy with 22k ped total globals.

But it sure isn't the first time...

This morning when i opened the HOFlist i was wondering how long it will take for this thread to appear ... well just like rl EU is not fair / is fair depending on your point of view. Anyway gz to the looters of the Argo and the Levi. Deserved ? Who cares ? - Disappointed ? Yes as usual because i want all the loot for me anyway gnargnar ( j/k ofc )
 
Should just say grats to these people and let it go. You can't accurately judge how much a person has deposited or not by the tracker, or how many peds they cycled. I know how quick someone was to throw me into the fire when I hit the ATH, simply because I was barely on the tracker. Note that 95% of my hunting was done with my good friend Silver with all sorts of different team names, which doesn't show up on my personal tracker. Also that I've deposited well over what I received and have been playing since late 01.

Even so, say for instance it was his very first day in game and he deposited $20, it's still no reason to make a fuss. Like someone mentioned it's like the lottery, everyone has a fair and equal chance to hit it big. You could also very well walk into casino and hit the jackpot on a slot machine, while other people there sitting beside you play them day in and day out hoping to hit it big.

The only problem I see is for MA in the long term with their weird loot distribution is it may just scare of the people who can only afford to put 50-100$ a month (or less). Compounded by other factors like the skill nerf, mob regen etc. If they could find a way to keep paying out hofs like that and still make it playable for the average person, they'd be a lot better off.

Big gz to the lucky looters ;)

Just to be clear, I'm not saying the system definitely doesn't favour newcomers. I'm just saying that these loots don't prove it does.

For instance, how many other guys are there out there with 22k PED globals and no fairly big HoFs? I'd wager quite a large number. How many guys with 220k PED globals and no fairly big HoFs? I'd wager very few.
 
If he wouldn't have gotten that Exa global I probably wouldn't have thought as much. I still don't know what I think, but just know the loot comes off looking very wacked.
Best is to not look at it for too long and do what you enjoy doing in game.
I agree with one poster, I find it easy to gratz someone when i'm doing ok, and get pissed when I'm doing bad. So there is always that, but doesn't change the fact that 2 ubers from same mob on same avatar seems wack. I've seen "worse"

I guess it's just good old DYNAMICS!!

There are probably more than you think... There really are "unlucky" avatars.
One example I'm thinking of ... 240K ped loot - highest loot 7,675. http://entropiatracker.com/player.asp?mode=viewPlayer&PlayerID=176207

My life would be easier if that "highest loot" number went up ;)

Edit: Also, gz to the looter. I've had my moan about occurances like this before. It's been happening for a very long time and will continue to happen for the rest of the games' existence. Shit happens.
