so did I ;) and see what I ended up with ... and you for that sake .... :scratch2:

no kids ... 26 here

hey im 26 too, but I got 4 :) . They don't play though, they prefer the kid games. They do refer to this game as "playin the E" I think due to the E icon on the desktop :)

I have 2 kids, 8 and 13 and both have avi and plays from time to time. But atm we have only 1 computer that can run entropia so it's a fight over it some times. and what do you do then? you give them some money and tell them to go to the store and buy some icecream ;) so i can get the computer by my self hehe..

But before the gxf gard broke we did some hunts together. But i think the 8 year old plays more then the 13 year.

How about a ingame kindergarten, for our kids to play togheter sometime?

:yay: :smash:  :hammer: :painter:

Gratz Pepper

Me neither... but working hard on changing that :)

Skilling for making kids is actually quite nice practice ;)

And thx Macce :)

Not to turn this Into a Should-kids-play-MMORPGs thread, but I agree. MMORPG Is the alternative for those who can't be arsed to leave the house after work to socialise :yay:

Kids however, should be outside ;)

I agree , EU is no place for a child.

It isnt really, my daughter is 10, and I have let her play to satisfy her curiosity, as she sees me play.
There were rules, one was she was not allowed to talk to anyone, this was to avoid random trades/chats/scams by other people.
She is an innocent child though, and quite a nice one too, so it didnt go down well when she tried to 'help' people kill a mob.. obviously they saw it as an attempt at ks'ing, or just being a nuisance.
Me explaining the wasted axe decay was lost on her.
Someone once said to her 'go away noob' and she was upset.. do not ask me how I kept my temper
When it is your child someone has been mean to, it does make your blood boil.
I discouraged her from playing, by simply not spoiling her in game anymore, I told her to go sweat to earn money, I did this because I knew she would soon bore of it, she did, and now hasnt played for months.
Its not the best place for a child I have discoverd.

p.s She met some very kind people also, I know who they were, because I was looking over her shoulder, watch your behaviour, you never can be certain who is watching ;)

Not only is it a blatant violation of EULA to have children under 13 playing PE, but it is disrespectful IMO to the adult players who play this game knowing that people need to be 13+ (or hopefully 18+) to play.

I am not a "kid" person .. I don't have them, don't want them, and I prefer to not be around them. I'm sure there are great learning opportunities for children in games like PE, but surely there is an option more suited to their age.

To me, it seems sort of like taking your 10 year old to a night club where only 18-21+ are usually allowed -- they are bound to see something, hear something, or experience something that just is not meant for them at that age, and it is nobody's fault but your own for providing the exposure. There is a reason the rules are in place.

I've had interactions with some players who were clearly in the pre-teen age-bracket (at least mentally) .. not only is it annoying as hell, but it is obvious that they are not getting enough supervision in an adult environment. Even kids who I know are being watched closely by their PE-playing-parent, I've experienced a number of ackward situations from these kids. Examples: 12 year old boy who constantly ran up and stood as close as possible staring at my pixel-chest (LOL - I actually put on more layers of clothing it was ackward), 13 year old boy with potty-mouth worse than mine yelling at me because I wouldn't give him something free and it wasn't fair, and various kids being scammed/taken advantage of in unfair trade deals because they were too trusting and don't truly understand business and economics (let alone math).

Plus, all these accounts for children are how we get into those well-known conspiracy theories about certain players brothers, sons, cousins, uncles, dogs, and cats who conveniently follow them around to fap all day.

Bottom line, obey the EULA ... and keep your kids away from adult-only environments.

I'm sorry, Fliss, while I certainly agree with you in theory and such, a game that is intended for 13 years and older is still from an "adult only environment". 13 years olds, at their extremely hormonal states, are more inclined to act like 3 year-olds than most 5 or 6 year-olds would even know how to be.

Sure what I just said might sound confusing, but think about for a minute. My daughter doesn't know how to be a pervert and stare at the chest of a female avatar. To her the game is about running around with her daddy having fun.

She sees avatars in their underwear and she giggles because she thinks it is silly that they run around "half nekkid", as she calls it.

I am very careful to not let her interact with other avatars in trades and chat. Now and then, on rare occassion, she slips a local chat comment of
"asbwelkhjdsflkwermnca e fk.nwerouv" past my watchful eye, but 99% of the time, people don't ever get a chance to interact with her, or vice versa because I log her in, I get her where she can hunt, or shop, and then I let her drive just enough to have fun for an hour.

As for the avatar that was created, that was an avatar that was created by an adult female for use by the adult female who shortly thereafter decided she had no interest in the EU. My daughter of course did have interest, so the avatar is still active for her occassional use.

I'm sure there are influences that would be less than desireable for my daughter to be exposed to and that is precisely why I control very closely what and who she is allowed to interact with. As soon as I see her venturing into unauthorized areas, she is shut down and she is done. She respects the rules I have put on her and is far more "mature" in her actions and accountability in the EU than a lot of the "adults" that participate.

At least in my opinion.

;)

I hear you here ... I'm the same way with my 5 year old!

I agree with that ... But my issues were focussed on that teenage group since they are currently allowed in the game. Children below that are a blatant violation of the EULA so I didn't feel it necessary to address that group any further.

Personally would be happy with an 18-or-older rule and remove the teenager provision in the EULA. I wouldn't say the game is INTENDED for 13 years and older -- I read the EULA to mean that PE is intended for 18+, however they are willing to accomodate players as young as 13 if their parent deems it appropriate.

The ones I have had issue with were probably "legal" per the EULA -- the teenage mouthy little brats who clearly do not have enough parental involvement in a variety of aspects of their life. And I resent their parents using PE as yet another means of babysitting their misbehaving children.

While I recognize that many of the children mentioned in this thread clearly do not fit into this category, I do believe that the EULA needs to be respected ... if for no other reason than because it is the rule (even though I still feel the age restriction is in place for a good reason). Acceptance of violation of the EULA opens the door to precident for others. And while your daughter might be legitimately playing, someone else's son might be auto-following him with a fap. Also, others might not watch their kids as well as you do, and I CBA to babysit. :)

I realize that I'm probably overly sensitive to the presence of kids. I purposely chose where and when I go to avoid them (both Online and RL), so I resent it when I'm forced to put up with them anyway. :) One of the things I like about PE is the older average-age of the players, it provides an environment where I feel far more comfortable than other online arenas full of kids. Personally, I'd like to keep it that way. :)

Do you really think we can hide playing from our kids?

Here we have strict rules, they are not allowed to play EU.
But they solved it in their own way.

Hmmm... it depends on what you mean by "child". I think Entropia is an excellent tool for learning how a society actually works and how the market works. You learn to have a budget and how % works. It takes mature people to be there as a bounce wall to explain and discuss the things that may occeur in the game - but I can't really see any harm in kids playing EU.

But I totally agree that kids should be out and play more - if possible...

But sometimes it's just better to play inside...

SHouldnt there be a a a choice of:

I dont have kids ... and I am between 20-45 years old :scratch2:

I can understand that but...

you have to look at it from the other side, when we are running around in EU all av's look the same age, we have no idea if the person on the other end is a 10yo girl or a 50yo guy and some people get frustrated, after cashing in US$100 and ending up with a few peds a couple of hours later, which they take out on someone else

I'm sure most people would be more tolerant if they knew who was really behind the av (except of course other kids)

after browsing this thread I for one will no longer berate people for acting like a dumb ass kid, or having a mob train land on my ass while mining because chances are they are just kids who are only having 'fun'

I often wondered why so many people were so immature...

I don't necessarily agree with young kids playing but it's a fact of EU life and something that needs to be 'lived with'

oh, and dj, I would never swear or shout at your daughter irl (or anybody elses kids) but I may have done in EU unknowingly in the past for which I apologise

Misty

p.s. if I ever shouted at a 'grown-up' well, they know what they can do and where to do it ;)

Kid's and their Lego... I'm just glad they keep themselves occupied for a while with something creative. :)
