How to setup Entropia for Oculus/Meta VR?

Greetings Entropians. I have seen a thread or two asking if the VR works but I have never seen how to actually set it up. I recently purchased an Meta Quest 2 and I want to make a YouTube video about Entropia with VR. However, there doesn't appear to be details on setting it up. Hopefully the new UI also improved or made this easier.
I believe that figuring out how to integrate VR with our game is essential for the future and I want to showcase it.

Even mindless fishing or bowling games are fun in Virtual reality. Imagine being a miner feeling like you are actually on the planet drilling resources.
Also, the fitness aspect too of getting our players off the chair and moving in an immersive environment. If Entropia isn't a prime candidate to push into the VR scene then I don't know of one.

Action Library - Toggle VR Mode

Mind you it was never fully implemented, and I have no idea if it even works at all. When I try it all I get is "Cannot enter virtual reality" but then I do not have a VR headset :p

Let us know if it works! :)

Still looking for information on the setup process if anyone has one. Clicking the VR button in game just brings up a prompt that says "can't enter virtual reality". Can anyone at Mindark explain the setup process or link a guide by chance? @Ludvig|MindArk

I found a thread that was nearly 10 years old mentioning using a program called Vorpx. I am unsure if this is still the route to get Entropia working on an Oculus. I would like to know before I buy a program that costs 400 peds equivalent.

again,

it was never fully implemented

plus VR is completely different than what it was 10 years ago... i highly, highly doubt that any meaningful VR development has taken place for EU and I would strongly suggest you save those 400 PEDs for something else :)

Im almost sure someone managed to run EU on VR headset and there was a vid somwhere here. But it was terrible, i dont think he was able to do anything except looking around.

It was one of those things that Mindark likes to do for PR; but then never bothered to implement it... just try to capitalize on SEO.

still no proper VR support?

they decided to make eu realistic by introducing those clumsy new npc first.
vr comes somewhat later…

You could try Desktop to VR, but there won’t be any movement with the controllers. For that, you might want to use a joystick-to-keyboard app. I’ve already tested my Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog, gamepad, JetPad, and VR. After trying all those combinations, I have to say that the Simshaker JetPad is the most immersive addition to the game, as it rumbles when shooting and goes crazy when hitting a HoF.
To be fair, using my VR headset isn’t very fun, except when driving a car or using a quad. The combination of the Hotas and JetPad, in my opinion, is the best setup, but it’s tricky to configure and quite expensive.
The best setup I’ve managed so far has been with the Mad Catz S.T.R.I.K.E. 7 keyboard with a display, though I have no idea if you can still find one since the company stopped making them. Even the pictures I uploaded are gone.

Virtual desktop supports using the controls that follow the Meta Quest 3 in games. The issue is that I can't get VR working so the game is running just as a big screen and then I'd rather play on my screen :p

This is sad to hear that people can't get it working. Was hoping to try it on the new computer when I work out how to do PC VR via the Quest2 on wifi.

Historically I got CryTopia "working" in VR using the DK2 with some of the older drivers (when it was still a "screen" rather than a device I think) and something called m2bs3d (meant to be seen 3d) I forget what their (free) program was called... something like vireo IIRC. It only worked on DX9 games, For example Dear Esther was nice except for the ending which was vomitous. They were working on a version of vireo that supported DX10 and beyond but it vapourwared AFAIK.

Seeing Entropia in VR was pretty awesome but CE2 at least how MA had it didn't handle you moving laterally up and down very well as regards shadows, so you had to hold your head at just the right position if you wanted stuff to look right.

At the time I was in the newbie starting map with a new to the game friend. I was able to log myself in and then log in to VR using his account and got to "meet" my own avatar in game haha I was taller than I thought I was XD.

One of my favourite bits was seeing a spaceship hangar in VR. It was frikkin huge! The scale just doesn't come over on screen. Would defo look forward to being able to see Entropia in VR again some day but I do wonder if MA will ever put resource behind making it very playable.

Unfortunately VR isn't just something you can slap onto an existing game. Sure maybe to walk around a bit but as for UI's/interaction... you basically have to re think everthing or at least make it bigger!
