OT: Caoryn, my reaction was the same :)

Back on topic, this thread is awesome!
Great work!

Thanks Zabler :)

Just testing :D

/me smells a copy-paste at work...
But I have to admit I am impressed by this effort of yours (as I wuv statistics), impressed enough that I shall +rep you, actually. :)

Lwt

LWT

The chip - 16.63 PED

The skills

I could only see rises in the pro standings that i've posted below - if you don't believe me I can post the rest of the screenies, but it seems logical to conclude that only these would be affected. On a side note I can now use the m4a a hell of a lot better now :)

Before LWT chip

After LWT chip

Thanks again for working it out for me :)

Thanks ano...14% on the nose for (Hit)...thats a better one for the pro-standing thread :D

Hiatus

OK, rather lousy loot recently for Jimmy so I decided to have a break from hunting and crack on with the chipping project...unfortunately due to VU bug, I can't insert the chips at the moment

To avoid ano (or others) duplicating, I currently have the following implants ready to insert:

Powerfist
Scan Human
Zoology
Animal Taming
Analysis

Scan Human Summary

Scan Human chip bought: 0.42 PED priced at 15 PED
Cost to insert: 2 PED
Total cost so far: 260 PED
Total skill gain so far: 1493.68
Total profession gain so far: 7.83

Scan Human before: 138.6
Scan Human after: 347.7
Change in Scan Human: 209.2

Humanoid Investigator profession level change: 1.040
Impact of Scan Human = 1.040*100/209.2 = 0.4973 = 50% (bit of rounding there )

Maximum possible error = 0.39%

All other profession level changes: 0

Effect of Metallurgy on mining professions.

OK, have wanted to test this for a while but the skill is pretty pricy. However, immediately after the screenshots above were taken I did a fair bit of crafting, and nothing else.

My only skill gains were:

Manufacture Metal Components: 1-->155 = +154
Metallurgy: 1-->54 = +53
Engineering: 370-->415 = +45

If metallurgy has an effect of more than 1.5% on any of the mining professions it would have triggered a change on the pro screen. The following screen shows my mining professions after the crafting:

Comparing with the relevant screenshot in the post above, we see that neither Prospector nor Surveyor have been altered by the gain in metallurgy.

The Miner and Driller professions have taken a very small gain. As you gain engineering occasionally whilst drilling and mining I would suggest that Engineering contributes maybe 2 or 3% to these professions (skill gain was too low to get an accurate figure). It looks very much the case to me that Metallurgy doesn't affect mining professions at all. This is consistent with opinion that only skills that you gain whilst doing the activity affect it. But not consistent with what many miners appear to believe about metallurgy.

Powerfist Summary

Powerfist chip bought: 0.99 PED priced at 41 PED
Cost to insert: 2 PED
Total cost so far: 303 PED
Total skill gain so far: 1761.68
Total profession gain so far: 9.64

Powerfist before: 541.24
Powerfist after: 809.29
Change in Powerfist: 268.1

Brawler (Dmg) profession level change: 0.6694
Impact of Powerfist = 0.6694*100/268.1 = 0.2497 = 25%
Brawler (Hit) profession level change: 1.0403
Impact of Powerfist = 1.0403*100/268.1 = 0.3880 = 39%
Correction
Brawler (Hit) profession level change: 0.9677
Impact of Powerfist = 0.9677*100/268.1 = 0.3610 = 36%

Powerfist Engineer profession level change: 0.1048
Impact of Powerfist = 0.1048*100/268.1 = 0.0391 = 4%

Maximum possible error = 0.30%

All other profession level changes: 0

Completely correct. Think of it this way, Mechanics is used in Mechanical Equipment Manufacturing, Electronics is used in Electronical Equipment Manufacturing and Metalurgy is used in Metal Equipment Manufacturing. To sum up, MA messed up and put Metalurgy in Mining instead of crafting.

Next time I chip i'll add my results to this post, keep up the good work :)

Ok, since this is the most vibrant of the skill talk, and Jimmy B seems to know much about them, what raises HA the most? Pistol/Rifle, LWT/BLP, Aim, Anatomy, etc?

I want to buy a chip to get me to about 5.0 HA, and want to know what has the highest % in HA...

Oh, is HA connected to laser pistoleer/BLP pistoleer (etc), or Ranged Laser/Ranged BLP (etc...) Im guessing the pistoleer (etc) proffesion will have a larger impact on HA...

;) Pele :newbie:

I am almost positive HG is 40%, Anatomy and LWT (or BLP) are next best, then other stuff.

I am close to 5.0 as well, thinking of chipping up to get CS, and actually wondering if CS has an impact on min damage, as I am close to wounding as well...

Wiki check or search would save an awful lot of trash in every thread in this subforum.

Anatomy has exactly 0 affect on HA.
