Question: Incentive to new players?

I agree like when i started the game someone called Aandar gave me a few ped and a gun to get me started. Newbies need something to glue them into the game.

To hook new players you could increase the avg loot for low level mobs but reduce the % of globals and HoFs. In essence make it easier to break even on low level mobs.

Then scale the payout so that by the time you get to high level mobs the avg loot is lower but the global and HoFs rate is higher thereby rewarding players who turn over a large amount of PEDs.

ain it already like that?

I think the starting phase of this game is one of the weakest points of the game.

Getting more people that try the game to actually stay in the game should be one of the key objectives for FPC.

Now the starting phase of the game is more or less a big turn off.

And we need more players if we want this game to survive, more players means more players/personel, means less money needed to per player to keep this game going, meaning the game gets cheaper, meaning maybe one day it´ll be possible to play for 15 usd/month :)

I had a suggestion for a new start a while back, you can find it here.

Problem I see:
If they can loot something with ammo for free, farmers would generate new avatars all the time. That would be stupid for MA and also stupid for other players.

while i agree that if done COMPLETELY carelessly, it's possible to open the system up to exploitation, I don't think that JUST the possibility of getting something for nothing will lead neccesarily to EU becoming a viable buisness oppritunity for exploiters...

casinos, for example give away free chips all the time and still manage to get out ahead... I don't think EU could give out TOO much, but simply giving out 10-20 ped worth of starter equipment could probably be done fairly easily...

either a: make it an activity that would be enjoyable and informative to a gamer but tedious for a botter.. like a tutorial that involves TP running and talking to different NPC

b: make a provision which requires all but one account associated with a given IP to be linked to a unique valid credit card... perhaps allowing for people to file a support case if this is a genuine hardship...

i'm sure there are SOME drawbacks to this, but I don't think it would break the bank...

I say blow off all
the long term oldtimer
beggers and whiners
and go for the future
:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:
Yep, let's blow off the people who spend way more than they withdraw from this game.

There will be many more to come... and they won't be loaded down with all the baggage of pre VU10.2... of ancient complaints and ego driven exaggerations of false senses of entitlement... beside it would be nice to see some new posters on the forum... rather than usual MA sucks.... I'm always leaving... but I'm still here... crowd

As a brand new player here, 2-3 days. i have not made a deposit. very sorry, but i do love this game alot. and i am thinking of quitting Eve, I gotmy 1st PED's from tips from reading tarot cards to three indiviuals. 7 ped from one person, and some clothing 14 ped worth, that right there set me off in a hunting profession, i hunted and sold my loot, bought more ammo rinse and repeat. i hit a global outin the swamp, and got hooked. meet someone from Angels of help Society, and he has been feeding me ammo to build up skills. I in a short time playing have made novice sniper laser lvl 1. full set of pixie armor and kobold thighs, will i deposit, i want to but money troubles IRL. i am not even supposed to be paying my monthly subscription to eve to be honest.

But i do have an interesting idea if you want new players to get the addictive feel, you need to provide them work, Such as

I am an employer i employ noobie hunters to go hunt for me. i provide them a gun and ammo. when they kill something and there is loot. they loot it and I receive 90% of that loot automaticaly no matter where i am. they keep 10% of this for personal use.
Based on their loot gathering abilitys i am giving a screen that asks me how much can go for ammo to this person via allotment screen, also any item provided by me cannot be sold to TT, by my employee or traded.

Why would you want to offer work to someone new to the game, Living off the work of another is one thing, and payin them a fraction of the gains. If they have a feel for the game and like it an wish to be the Employer obviously they need to deposit some money or take thier pay from working under me and try to make it in the world.

There just needs to be a failsafe programed in by the programers that protect the employer. if the noob does not use the ammo in said amount of days or the noob isnt proforming well. you can fire him, and the money invested in this player to proform tasks for you is transfered back to you.

I have no clue how this would work programing wise, but there is the idea. Entice new players by a job system where you get paid more for their work with out them having the ability to steal from you. they keep 10% for the real time work they put in for you. and they will probly spend it and recycle the money back to the market in some way. and you get a chance at them getting lucky and getting a global 90% of a global for sitting around doing nothing sounds nice.

Also to further this a new termanal can be placed by the camps for jobs, wherea employer can go and deposit x amount of PED to fund a employee, and can logout, log back in and have the job complete with results of what loot dropped, who the employee was, he picks up the loot at that termanal, this wouldnt have to be a noobie thing, you could have the termanals be individual to the areas it covers, so a termanal out in some high lvl zone can only cater to those high lvl players, in the event some old school player cant make a deposit. its kinda win win imo.

But forgive me i just started playing this game. i could just be some random moron. but i am new and this is what you guys are talking about, nd here is a proposed solution from a non depositer/new player. just enriching your community one word at a time :D

And if any one wants a Tarot Card Reading let me know in game, i will be in the noob zones. and i work for tips only. and it is for entertainment purposes only, but there might be some truth to it you just got to try it :D

First off, welcome to Calypso! You seem like a great player who will make a fine addition to the world.

I love this idea. I'm not sure if it's been mentioned here or not but some kind of structured and secured player-based employment system would be a fantastic way to provide incentives for new players and give them a feel for the game.

You'd think it would be at least feasible to set up such a system to provide security for the employer as well as benefits for the employee. If MA/FPC isn't working on this already, hopefully they'll take notice.

But forgive me i just started playing this game. i could just be some random moron. but i am new and this is what you guys are talking about, nd here is a proposed solution from a non depositer/new player. just enriching your community one word at a time :D

You're doing great, right out of the starting gate. You keep doing what you're doing and good luck in your endeavors.

Thank you Kuber for your support of my idea. (2 posts above)
i have had a few additinal thoughts on this idea and wanted to take it a step further. That this Employment method could also be a skill also, with every contract issued for employment skill can be gained, the the results of this skill increase could be a larger take of the loot, so a noobie employer can only take 60% and as skills increase they gradualy move twards a 90% maximum. along with cheeper ammo costs to offset the employee's skill lvl. to provide extraprofit.

Also a upside for MA they can tax some of the emplyment contracts as another way to take our money. lol. hey we got to make them happy also ya know. but this in all honesty could help new playersstep into the game insted of logging in and be like " OMG what do i do, why do i have to depositmoney to play" In other games you take off running, in this game you cant. and some people just dont like putting money into a game they havent tried. socializing isnt the main reason most people play mmo's.

Sure you guys do have a way of giving free gifts to brand new players but that really isnt lettin a new player experience the game. free gifts sometimes isnt the way, if something is free it is not he same kind of fun as earning it. even if they "won it in an Event"

So employment has to be the answer, and not just employment but secure forms of employment that protects both all three partys involved, The employer, employee, and MA.

:D

Big ? Maybe.

Detailed ? lol, didnt you mean "Dead Empty" ?!

Well, detailed in comparison to other F2P MMO's.

U are right about being empty - it does feel like it when you are walking around in certain areas. But you cannot deny its detailed in its fauna and flora.

And that's what i meant actually. It really feels like you walk into another planet. An empty one at times nonetheless...
