Rocktropia discussed on Mpog.com

By the way, nothing in your troll description mentions how many posts one has to have to not be a troll. I'd suggest this fallacious link to trolling is entirely based on cliques and snobbery. Main reason I haven't joined the site before now is that there's nothing there that applies to me apart from the odd EU article. With hindsight, the attitude and stance of some of those who seem regulars would be another reason to normally avoid it.

Welcome to EF:)

Apparently the popular claim is 10+ posts are needed to not be a troll, however, this number varies and has went as high as 100 in the thread on MMORPG. Under this rule, I hereby instate myself as a troll on these forums and fit the picture as described above. However, only until I reach the post count of 10/100 (to be decided) will I transform into a glorious prince where I will then ride my steed into the sunset in search of my foxy lady friend.

I made my posts over there. I Think it was a good read to be honest. even the guys putting down the game.

I'd say a Troll is someone who lets their personal feelings (failings?) show in posts making wildy innaccurate claims, or those who post as experts when they know very little about the game, causing controversy for the sake of getting some attention. Also those who have nothing useful to say but keep on saying it.

Oh, so you mean half of ef?

Now you're mixing dissatisfied customers with trolls.

Dissatified customers becomes trolls when they start whining everywhere about a game they do not even play anymore (I could give examples but I wont) :silly2:

This post on there by Mongrol ABC was awesome lol, whoever it is this bit made me howl:laugh:.

Yes, on EF I have 6,946 posts, here I have one... big deal. I've been a gamer since 1983 and have found a game I want to stick with. Gotta ask, with the time it takes to skill and progress in MMORPG's, how does anyone find time to play the hundreds of diferent games, including all the new ones, that "qualify" you to be able to talk about gaming here? Or do you rarely truly get into a game, just flit like a magpie fad-whore from one shiny object to another?

i vote for evil

Someone already had the name Hurrikane over there (or I joined years ago on an old e-mail address, not sure...)

...so I sent in one of the ultimate bad-ass problem solvers:)

ABC Warriors FTW!

(My actual favourite is Mek-Quake but Mongrol's got the cooler name:))

I decided to put at least alice's guide in that poor entropia section for the lost souls who ask a question there and get the troll's treatment.

I had a go at some advice myself in a couple of posts, you trumped me though:)

More of us that post there now and then, maybe EU will break out of the hate bin some of our online "comrades" throw it into.

Hurrikane

Tip: Be nice, even in the face of extreme troll-bile. Rational, polite replies encourage rational, polite people to see the haters for what they are and perhaps give EU a try. Sinking to their level will just work against EU.

Agreed.. I have also compiled some free stuff to do in Entropia and made a thread about that. If anybody knows some free events for new players please let me know and I will add them

They actually make more valid points than most of the EF users.
This is my opinion of the back and forth going on in their forum.
I honestly believe that sometimes, the community here is EU's worst marketing enemy, next to the insane cost-to-play.

Furthermore, I think this post, provides some important food for thought.

I'll just be waiting over there (points) for y'all to start bashing me for having an opinion that differs from yours.

I guess all mentioning of Entropia is good even if it's bad mentioning maybe people will see all the fuss and want to check it out for them selfs.

I told myself I would not post on MMORPG.com again, even cancelled my initial account, but what the hell maybe that's the issue with EU players we stick to our game specific forums and don't expose ourselves to outside criticism and dish out that criticism ourselves.

Some posts are valid over there even some of the negative ones, others are just people with a bone to pick for whatever reason they have.

I'm not always 100% positive about EU so I can see both sides but I try be objective if I can. EU is being represented there with all the other MMOs many things need updated and cleared up but I only see that through our participation and Mindark's as well.

If we want EU taken seriously then we should demand that from ourselves and the developer.

Magmanite signing out :D

It isn't that hard to see why these guys hate on EU, it is because too many people (MA included) think of EU as a mmo. Compared to most mmos EU sucks there is very little teamwork (compared to other mmos where you have tanks, medics, rogues, etc), you spend a ton of money to get skills/gear, instead of gaining wealth in game you usually loss it and it costs most people way more then 15 or 20 dollars a month to play.

If people take EU for what it is a casino with a sci-fi mmo theme its not that bad. I know MA says it is skill based so it is an mmo not a casino, but casino games such as poker and blackjack also have a bit of skill involved.

LoL checked my email to get 2 warning notices from Mpog saying I'd broken their rules... seems calling a magpie fad-whore a magpie fad-whore is not the done thing.

Bunch of magpie fad-whores:)

Back to EF where you know where you stand, leave those losers to get their worthless skilling fixes:)

I got a warning AND a tempban.

Are you SERIOUS?!?!?!?!!? :jawdrop:

I got the warning. Figured, fine. I can accept a slap to keep me in line.

But temp banning the guy who the troll attacked? That's just too funny.

Ahhh... got it. In our universe, trolls are one thing. In the thousand-odd games these people have time to play due to their real busy lives, trolls are highly varied and sometimes respected creatures; i.e. there are good trolls and bad trolls. Failure to recognise an evil troll casts you into the dungeon of despair, where only a potion from Slickshit the Wizard can save you.

We were simply the wrong kind of trolls.

It's a bit like some countries who penalise the victims of sexual abuse; if we weren't trolling, we certainly looked like we were.... just gotta understand the customs.

A site for every Mmporg except ours. I think that makes us special:)

Hurrikane

I got a warning too.. advertising.. because I gave somebody some efd and suggested he join the efd growth fund..

No warnings here....yet. Lol I just synced my email I used with that account so something might pop up soon.

Personally I think there a quite a few people who haven't a clue about EU and some who make snap judgements and maybe some sour grapes as well.

I will try to post there once a week from now on just keep the info flow about EU current, in a sense.

EU's lack of exposure and the majority of us sticking to "fan" type forums make us strangers in places like mmorpg.com so its not suprising to get some of the reactions I've seen. We are all gamers of one type or another so maybe there is more common ground over there if you don't get sucked into a troll fest.

I got a warning, not sure why, but I was agreeing with the "others" at MMO, as opposed to agreeing with you guys.
So it's not like they're only warning/banning pro-EU campaigners.
