Team Portugal

Hello Team Portugal

Rules and Info Update:

Elected Captains and their Main Team lists (of up to 12) need to be PM'd to me no later than March 5th. I would prefer them sooner.

Moblists will be posted in their own Sticky Threads here, at least 1 week before each hunt, hopefully the day after the previous Hunt weekend.

Each Hunt starts and finishes at a location given at least 1 week before the day of the Hunt. Some will have facilities, some will not. Most will not be near a TP. Details and Co-Ords will be posted along with the Moblists.

Main Team and Hunt Team:

The members of a Main Team who hunt in any given match are referred to as the Hunt Team. Any Main Team members not in that match's Hunt Team can act as Support.

Availability allowing, all Hunt Teams will have an embedded Judge. You will be told your designated Judge at the Meet n' Greet.

Meet n' Greet and MIA (Missing in Action)

Meet n' Greet: The Hunt Teams taking part in each match must meet with the Judge before and after each match. Try to show up early. If members of a Main Team are late for the start, they can join the hunt ONLY by turning up at the Start/Finish point and personally informing the Judges. This can happen at any time during the match. They can only use whatever time is left in that match to score (i.e. they forfeit any time they have missed)
The meet n' greet is when the judge confirms and records the names of the Hunt Team for each country taking part in that match, and joins the team as an embedded Judge.
When this is not possible, Captains will add one of the other Team's Judges to their Friends List and confirm Globals "The Old way". I will do my best to cycle through the teams so no one ends up doing it the old way more than others.
The Old Way is to pm a "got it?" or similar to the judge after each global, who replies with "got it" or similar. This helps make sure no globals are missed. If Captains forget to pm, their scores will still be recorded, but mistakes can be made... (and sometimes globals have shown up in some chat and not in others).

MIA: Any Hunt Team avatar not present within 10 minutes of the end of the match in question will cost a penalty of 10 Points to that Team's score, for being Missing In Action.[/B] This rule serves to keep the Tournament running tight and smooth. If server problems affect people from more than one team (i.e. mass ctd) then this will be waived in favour of the Mass CTD rule.

Mass CTD: If members from more than one team and/or judges are drastically affected by server, or other difficulties the Mass CTD may be declared by Judges still present/on their relog. The time of the incident will be logged, rounded down to the nearest 10 minutes, scores at the time of CTD recorded also, and the remainder of the match will be played when all have recovered, or at a later date if another match is waiting to start and there are insufficient Judges.

Those who sign for a Main Team can only change to another Main Team if they have not yet hunted in the Tournament as a Main Team member.

Captains wishing to change their Main Team must present evidence explaining why. Those who have hunted in the Tournament as part of the Main Team can only be dropped or changed with mutual consent of the Captain and the Avatar being dropped, or by a majority vote within the 12 members of the Main Team.

Support:
This year, to give more hope to the smaller teams, there will be CAPS (limits) on Support scoring. If Support Team leaders contact the Judge of their match they will be able to find out if they have reached their cap.

For the Qualifiers, the maximum Support score is 100 Points.

For Stages 3 and 4, the maximum Support score is 150 Points

For Stage 5, maximum Support score is 200 Points

For the Final, Support scores are unlimited. (By this time, teams are expected to have gathered larger support than they had at the start)

The Support Mobs will be slightly tougher in general, to reflect the amazing work done last year, with the occasional "Uber" mob to encourage teamwork.

The Support Teams can still be of any size and number, as long as their team names contain the word "Support" and the country name they are supporting. Support teams do not have to be present at the start or finish of the match and can join in when they like.

Kill-Stealing is viewed as hostile and against the spirit of the Tournament. Repeated accusations will lead to investigation and possible action against the perpetrators.

If any team fail to show for a match they are in, their score will be recorded as 0. Their opponents will still hunt as each stage needs a score for the records.

I, as organiser reserve the right to pass judgement in undecided matters related to the Tournament. If my actions are seen as unjust I will allow a vote from the team, or teams involved to affect my decisions.

I also reserve the right to add a few rules before the start if it turns out I forgot them:)

Other details:

You are all invited to the WoF 2009 LAUNCH PARTY on the Secret Island (see thread in stickies).

The best of luck to all of you... you're about to enter hell!

Hello Team Portugal!

It is time to ready yourself to take the sheer unwavering brunt of the WoF. You will enter the first of 2 matches against the rest of the World. Scores will be taken and used as the basis for seeding Group Stage 3.

Stages (with matches per team) are:

1. Qualifier A: Blue Dawn (1 match against world)
2. Qualifier B: Island Intensity (1 match against world)
3. Group Stage A: The Wild Bunch (3 one-on-one matches)
4. Group Stage B: From Out of Nowhere (3 one-on -one matches)
5: Semi-Finals: OMG (1 one on one match)
6: Final: Thunderdome 3-Way
:)

TimeSlot Choices For

Qualifier A: Blue Dawn

All slots are 3 hours.

Entry Level: Any National Team.

The Hunting Slots:

Slot A: 12:00 Saturday 7th March

Slot B: 16:00 Saturday 7th March

Slot C: 20:00 Saturday 7th March

Slot D: 00:00 Sunday 8th March

Slot E: 06:00 Sunday 8th March

I don't really want more than 8 teams in any one slot (for the sake of the judges sanity) so I will ask the last to apply to change slots if overcrowding occurs.

Applications for chosen TimeSlots should be sent by PM to me as soon as possible. Please keep re-thinks to a minimum as my PM box fills up at this time every year:)

***Rule Update***

The Bonus Mob now counts for an independent score to be added at the end of the match, and does NOT count towards the Support Team's scoring Cap.

***Scoring for 2009 Update***

Note* Killed when used in the scoring terms means Globalled On.

Each Moblist will have 4 Mobs for the Main Team, 2 for Support and a Bonus that either (but not both) can score on once per match.

Main Team score availability is 5-6-7-8-9-10 (+possible Bonus/Boost)

Support Team score availability is 2-3-4 (+possible Bonus/Boost)

Bonus Mob: 25

HoF: Scores that kill as Double.

ATH: Double Entire Final Score.

Main Team Variety Boost:

1 Species killed= 0

2 Species killed= 10

3 Species killed= 25

4 Species killed= 50

Main Team/Support Team "Sweep" Boost (new!)

All Scoring Categories (Species and Maturity Groups, Main AND Support) killed= 25

Loot Boost: Highest TT Value of scored (globalled) loot per Match= 15

Susan 113 Bonus:

Any Global or HoF of 113 PED scores double points for that kill.

Beware, if you are more than 10 minutes late for the Slot you choose, the match will Start without you and you will either have to hunt in a shortened TimeSlot or try to reschedule, so organisation is the key here.

Here is, therefore, a very useful item; (copied from another thread)

Lorfat, i wish you all the best as Team Captain and its a shame i have been away for so long from this game due to personal reasons regarding my future in careers

However, after being absent from the game i have been training to be an officer in our glorious Armada, and one of the things i have learnt so far is, and I hope this helps you with your time problems:

A leader should NEVER take decisions by himself without consulting the ones who surround him- make all of the team members participate in your decisions, giving as much input to the subject as possible;

Try to solve the problems that might occur with team mates or with your leadership - This is natural to happen in a team environment as can be seen by the previous posts that i read (yes i read the whole thread xD).

Delegate tasks to those you see fit for them - This is a very important tool for the leader because it allows you to take some of the tasks off yourself and onto others who have less to do in the team's environment. Please note that you should not abuse of it for the reasons pointed out in the second paragraph. This is a very good tool for all leaders that is most of the times neglected. Why is it a good tool? because not only are you freeing some time for you to think more clearly on other matters, but it also makes the other team members feel involved in the action ahead and thus improve the overall morale of the team.

Dont be afraid to criticize someone - It is also natural for a leader to see members not following orders correctly and thus there is a need to repremend them, however never make DESTRUCTIVE criticism, noone likes that, and it will create scenarios for paragraph two to happen. So as a rule of thumbs, always criticize someone constructively, by correcting their stance or explaining how to function in the given task.

Give the example - If one of your teammates is having trouble resolving an issue or is having a hard time figuring how the tactics work, show them a possible scenario or explain to him how you would do it, it might give them a wave of inspiration and leading you to paragraph one.

Stay cool under fire - This resorts to the previous paragraph. No one likes to see the leader of the team lose his temper when found in a pressured environment. And there will most likely be times in this competition in which you will find yourself pressured over something, in which case youll resort to paragraph one and two.

Never say Never - I read around the thread that our team had no chances of winning WoF. Going to a competition with a negative attitude assures you will lose. It is only over when it is over. This is a competition and as such we will give our best shot, no matter what. The only way to revert this is for you to motivate the team members.

Dont be a hero - All heroes are dead. You dont need to be the best or show the best example to be a good leader, just give it your maximum effort, no one expect better from you than your best.

Im sorry if it a long post, but i hope you take the time to read it a bit. Id like to point out im not telling you how to do your job, im just trying to help you organise yourself, and i also suggest all those who are not participating to help aswell, because this is our team, and as such needs as much support as it can get.

It is true that Portugal is the underdog in the competition, but that is just a mere detail that doesn't mean anything, as you can see from all the RL competition such as the Olympics. We're small, but we're proud of our size, no matter what.

I hope you show everyone in the EU community that Portugal is a force to be reckoned, regardless of our numbers in this game, small but proud.

A PATRIA HONRAI, QUE A PATRIA VOS CONTEMPLA. This is the Navies Warcry, the portuguese warcry. Many have fallen for it, but never fallen without pride nor honour.

A constructive post with good advice!

First of all, I’d like to thank you for your post! I really appreciate your constructive input!

We have created our own WoF Portugal private forum where we (as a group) discuss all WoF related issues. Although there might be the need to have someone to point the way, I can assure you that all our decisions referring to WoF are being shared with the whole group who is always invited to actively participate.

I have invited to our private forum all the Portuguese players that I know and managed to find a way to get in contact with (ofc its possible that some are missing).

I reckon you are absent from the game and it came to me as a good surprise to see you are active here in EF.

I enjoyed reading your post and believe that our team has been inline with your suggestions! (and no, we ‘Never say Never’… we’re just taking it easy ;))

I invite you to check it out for yourself (I will be sending you a PM with the instructions to join our forum) as your contribution with ideas/suggestions will be most appreciated and welcomed for its added value!

Thank You!

P.S. 'A PATRIA HONRAI, QUE A PATRIA VOS CONTEMPLA!' will be our Warcry for this year’s competition.

Greetings Team Portugal.

The Tournament for you begins at your chosen Timeslot of:

16:00 Slot B Saturday 7th March

The Rules at the beginning of the WoF Rules and Info Thread have now been comprehensively updated and should include all you need to know.

The Hunt Team (Scoring Members of the Main Team) for this Stage will be a maximum of 4 members.

Please show up at least 10 minutes before the start and get all the team-forming out of the way in good time for a clean start.

Confirmed Hunt Timeslots so far:

Slot A:

Australia, Sweden, Italy

Slot B:

Portugal, England, Finland, Denmark

Slot C:

Poland, Romania, Norway, America, Scotland, Wales, France, Ireland, Estonia, Slovenia, Amethera

Slot D:

Canada

Slot E: No-one yet.

Teams yet to confirm: China, Eudoria, Netherlands, Greece, Czech Republic

Any teams yet to choose should note that Slot C is now closed. Please PM me as soon as possible with your decisions.

As a final note, in case anyone missed it; the Big Bulks are expected to land at an undisclosed location East of Twin Peaks on the days of the Hunts.

Looking forward to another great day out in EU:)

Good luck people and god speed :wtg:

Hello there Team Portugal

You have faced the first Stage and Scores have been posted in the:
***WoF WarSheet***
Thread, in the Sub-Forum.

The Stage 2: Island Intensity Qualifier B Moblist is also up to view.

Your next TimeSlots to choose from:

Please Note Slot E has moved back two hours from last time (not enough judges available)

Slot A: Saturday 21st March: 12:00

Slot B: Saturday 21st March: 16:00

Slot C: Saturday 21st March: 20:00

Slot D: Sunday 22nd March: 00:00

Slot E: Sunday 22nd March: 04:00

Please PM me your TimeSlot Choices as soon as possible.

Please also send SECOND Choices, as slots WILL be policed this time and no more than 8 will be allowed to hunt at once, on a first-come, first serve basis. If you have a genuine reason for only being available at one time it had better be a pretty good one to account for 4 people from a 12-Man team:)

This Stage looks to be high scoring; I wish you the best of luck:)

Hurrikane

Hi Team Portugal, you have been Confirmed to Hunt in

Slot D: 00:00 Sunday

The Start/Finish Point for this Stage is NOT on TI,
it is to the north.....

Amethera
15351, 33533, 511

With TI's regular customers there too it made sense to keep with the WoF tradition of highlighting remote locations.

See you there and Good Luck:)

Hurrikane

Well, gratz to alll of us. We did ok in this round ;).

Hello Team Portugal

Welcome to Stage 3 of the WoF.

The Groups have been drawn and the reults posted in the Stickies.

Round One:

Your first Match will be against China.

Please contact them via the Forum to arrange a suitable Time Slot, and a second one if at all possible!

TimeSlots remain the same as last Stage:

Slot A: Saturday 4th April: 12:00

Slot B: Saturday 4th April: 16:00

Slot C: Saturday 4th April: 20:00

Slot D: Sunday 5th April: 00:00

Slot E: Sunday 5th April: 04:00

Please PM me your TimeSlot Choices as soon as possible.

Round Two:

Round 2 uses two weekends, with the 12 matches to be held on any of the following days:

Saturday 11th April, Sunday 12th April
Saturday 25th April, Sunday 26th April

These Timeslots can also be used for your Round Three match.

The Timeslots will be the same each time and your adversaries that Round will be Slovenia. Feel free to sort out a TimeSlot early on and let me know.

Round Three

Round Three is also different. The official dates are:

Saturday 2nd May, Sunday 3rd May

However, if these dates are not suitable, Matches can be arranged on any of the days allotted to Round Two beforehand (11th, 12th, 25th +26th April) as long as the order of play is maintained (i.e. the teams meet when they should, not the wrong way round).

Your opponents for this Match will be Australia. Again, feel free to arrange the times early and get them to me by PM.

Start Point: Not half as bad as the last one, this one's South of Nymphtown on the way to the Rig:

EUD: 25055, 9725, 151

It's the old sweater's camp if you're wondering:)

The Start Point is the same for ALL 3 ROUNDS.

Spawn Information:

MindArk tell me the Spawns will be adjusted on the Friday before each weekend in the folowing areas:

Malcruentor: Where they are now

Hispidus: In the "blue area" west of Hadesheim

Scaboreas/Tezlapod: North of PvP 1

Molisk: North of Troy and East of Argus

I am delighted to welcome Entropia Investment Fund (EiF) as our latest sponsor, and also EntropiaBay.com. Both have contributed towards a nice array of Support Team Prizes for the SCAR award in the Semi-Finals which will see 36 avatars recognised for their efforts:)

EiF announce they have set their Molisk and Ambulimax Spawns to meet the needs of WoF hunters, with two mid-level Molisk DNA's and one set high in LA 44, and tucked away to provide quieter small Ambu's to rack up those six-pointers will be two low-maturity spawns in LA 24.

NeverDie has told me there will be a good amount of young Phasms from now and throughout the Stage.

It's on.

Thanks for your hard work so far, and good luck getting through to Stage 4:)

Hurrikane

Hi to all Teams.

Great work by everyone last weekend; even low scores take a lot of work in the WoF:)

Some News: The proposed Extra Sunday TimeSlots are not happening until Round 3 (Not regularly anyway), as there are 4 whole days with which to arrange your next Match, using the existing Time-Slots.

PLEASE think about your opponents when choosing Time Slots and PLEASE offer more than one to them!

There are many reasons why team members cannot/don't want to turn up at any given time; THIS IS WHY YOUR MAIN TEAM IS 12 BUT ONLY NEEDS 4 TO HUNT!

I have already had to offer a slot on the intervening Weekend (18th April)... MY WEEKEND OFF.... and there's NO WAY IN THE WORLD I'm going to over-lap slots again.

So here it is: In cases of Time-Slots being difficult to arrange, the decision will go to the Team who shows the most flexibility! This means if they have submitted 4 times to you, and you submit 1 that isn't any of them.... without any good reason why, the Match will go ahead at a time they have chosen that is closest to your own preferred time.

I appreciate there's a lot of people with a lot of different lives, which is precisely the reason for the TimeSlots in the first place, and for the large range of options presented. I have yet to see a valid reason for 4 out of 12 avatars not being available on a weekend.

Those who take their time deciding may also find the Match to be confirmed for a time they don't like; the other Teams need to plan and prepare, which they can't do if they don't know when they are playing.

So get on the case, be flexible, and prioritise; you fight for your Country's Honour!

PM me with your Slot decisions....AFTER agreeing them with your opponents.

Hurrikane

P.S. Scores all checked and sent to J Boy for him to work his graphical magic, should be here tomorrow.

Hi team Portugal.

Sry for the late reply, i had some rl issues. Members of team Slovenia agreed that April 25th/26th is the weekend for us ;)

Time slots prefered in order are:
Slot B: 16:00Saturday April 25th
Slot F: 12:00 Sunday April 26th
Slot C: 20:00 Saturday April 25th

Ok a lot of time to arrange this...... GL

Slot C: 20:00 Saturday April 25th

Just spoken to Hurri on the phone.

He has asked me to announce that it IS now too late for the 20:00 matches to go ahead either, so All Saturday matches will need re-arranging...

There are many options for this : There are mid-week possibilities if both teams are in agreement. Also remember that WoF matches have been, and are, every 2 weeks in general, so we also have every other weekend...

The main thing is that each pair of teams Must compete at the same time, ie under the same loot conditions.

Sorry I'm sorry folks, it's a pain in the Ass, but you need to work out a few times when you will be available for a re-match, using ANY of your main 12 team members.... please come up with several possible times to give everyone as much chance to meet you as possible...

Liase with your opponents in this round and come to an agreement, then please let myself or Hurrikane know as soon as possible.

Hopefully we can work it all out as smoothly as possible.

ThanX

kewl. going for beers :D.

Hi Mac :)

As already informed to you via PM, we were supposed to have played our 2nd Round last Saturday at 20hrs (against Slovenia), but it was not possible due to the fact that EU was down at that time.

We now have a bit of a situation here, where we still need to rearrange a new time Slot against Slovenia which will most probably take place during this next weekend too (and I'm not sure if we will even manage to play 2 WoF rounds during the same weekend).

Please also understand that first we will need to get the new time slot fixed with Slovenia. Thanks for your pacience and understanding!

I'll come back to you as soon as possible.

Cheers!
- Lorfat
