FYI: Whining's Profitable Hunting Log Q2 2015

This is a good dialogue to have and the comments have been good. It bears thinking about. Why do you hunt? What's your goal? I have definitely been through similar thought experiments and concluded every time that chipping in to reach some arbitrary skill with my imk2 or a specific unlock wasn't really consistent with my supposed reasons for doing it. For a lot of people into RPGs, the journey is the draw, even if its motivated by an obsession/compulsion to reach some measure of uberness. In EU there's the added component of efficiency and the dream of profit, but there's no doubt it was brilliant to base the only RCE game on the RPG model.

That's about all i have to say on the subject as far as advice goes because it's personal in the end. But ask yourself, if you chipped to 65/65 and bought the imk2, what would your expectations and goals become at that point?

Incidentally i sold my imk2 (which i bought in 2006) when i was at level 69.4ish Hit and 66 damage... i thought some big changes were coming that would reduce my time to play and i had sort of run out of steam, even so close to Commando (as can be said at any level, if you think it's slow going earlier (in this case late 50/early 60s), just wait for later (in this case that last grind from 69 to 70!)). The expected changes didn't really materialize and the loss of the carbine actually created some new interest for me and i've been grinding small mob missions lately and re-evaluating my equipment. The change in setup has actually proved liberating in some ways, although i've found i'm more dedicated to skilling laser sniper and damage more exclusively than i would have thought would be the case if i sold my imk2.

The catch is what does your play style dictate you need to become successful.

If you are a grinder... you get an imk2 or high efficiency weapon.

If you are hof chaser... a lower dpp but high dps maxed weapon is better.

If you are part time hunter or mix.. you get somewhere in between but use L weapons.

I'm proof that getting an imk2 at a lower level doesn't mean rainbows will fly out of my ass and suddenly peace exists in the middle east. It just allows you to grind at a higher edge than others.
 
My intents are to be able to grind at breakeven waiting for big ones, much like I have done so far (with a fair bit of luck).

I'll just keep grinding a while and reevaluate the situation later on. It's just that I've been lucky enough in here to advance too fast. The next step is a huge leap.

I just realized. I've been grinding hard for the reward program and just hit the goal. That's what's bugging me. Fekk. I'll be back on track as soon as the new event launches and there is a leaderboard to follow.

As a min/maxer, you always want to tweak it to get better and better results. But sometimes, it is best to leave it alone.. compile valuable data (such as I have), and enjoy the journey. Incrementalism is a model for success. Constantly tweaking and changing is called slot machine management.. a model doomed to fail.

I personally in your shoes would just play to farm markup and let the MARKUP pay for your future gear. If you are hell bent on chipping.. then have the esis you loot filled With your skill of choice for as long as you don't need the esi mu to break even.

Will be quite a big update tonight since I was too tired last night. It will most likely be quite red, but not devastating. My first thousand ped cycled last night was 110% but then I joined shared loot in a downswing.

Will update the skills tonight as well since there will be no hunting tomorrow. I need to get some business done on Caly in order to hopefully raise my average DPP further.

This month will end up really nice though. Unless any major catastrophe happens I'm looking at roughly 2500 profit in TT, another 1500 in markup and about 4,500 ped in event prizes and rewards, making the total around a very green 8,500 ped. It is, however, not over until the fat lady sings.

Before the shared you were 2500 tt plus, then lost 2900 tt, 90% avg anyone?

I was +3.6k, don't feed the trolls :silly2:

On top of which; If anyone thinks MA would nerf the loot for 100 people to drag my returns down to 90%, then... yeah. Hmm...

+ 3600 was with MU right?

I always do good on shared when ive had bad loot prior to the shared event, and always had bad returns after coming from a good period prior to the shared :)

MY last shared was a good one, so I shouldn't complain. It really is a gamble.

99.65% is not a bad TT return. I just wish I would not have screwed it up with the shared loot. However, would we have hit a bigass ATH, then I wouldn't be complaining. It is a pure gamble and will probably even out during future events.

Low average markup for the month it seems. I'll need to take a look in storage and see what kind of stacks I can find lying around. I know I have at least one ESI and Arso chip that hasn't sold yet. Head start for June.

Misc:
I didn't manage to realize the potential of events and such until late. But thanks for bringing it to my attention.

At the time of writing, the progressive adds up to 1453.50 PED but that might change any second. The value goes up, while a big hof could knock me down.

5$ Reward program: 1720.00.

Will update this post in the morning once the bonuses have been calculated. At the very worst, we are looking at a grand total of +4300 PED for May and at best +5500.

Thanks for setting me straight, shouting at me when needed and giving me helpful advice.

I would also like to say thanks for all the positive comments through pm's here and in game. I've noticed I often forget to answer them or don't finish the conversations properly. I'm sorry for that, I have a ton of stuff going on all the time and sometimes random PMs goes missing as I click X out of habit.

Will be doing a trip to Caly for a weapon upgrade (T8 Vincent). Will also sell all my damage enhancers and conclude the deal on my shop. Hopefully I will have the PED left for that crit scope I have been wanting, otherwise I'll just hope for continued good returns so that I might be able to buy it mid month.

Even making +5000 is decent for a mid level player, that's better than most can do.

So back to grinding now and see if I can repeat it. Two months with good TT return. I would like to say that I am doing something right, but it really has been luck. We'll give it more time and see what happens.

Not sure if I have reached mid-level yet though. ;)
