Confused old new player

Hi.

I try to return to this game again after 15 years but I'm confused on game state really.
I don't expect of course the same game but economy and items seems like the shadow od what it used to be.
A lot of things like armors simply don't drop anymore and most of items are gone. Things that were common are now super rare or don't exist at all.

I wanted to start with some small, basic hunt. I was looking for mobs to kill and I remember Snableshots. I even found some old blog post ( http://entropia-universe-mmorpg.blogspot.com/2011/05/hunting-snablesnot-with-isis-cb5-l-at.html?m=1 hope it's not breaking any rules to paste it here) and just look at possible loot there. Pixies, Goblin armors, some chips etc. but when I went to Wiki to check, now it's just shrapnels and some hide.
It's very similar for other mobs too..

I don't expect to really earn money on that game. That was never target for me because I just treat it like casino but in casino you always have this feeling that there is tiny chance that you will hit something unusual and bigger. And that was a case in old times for EU also.
Now I checked several mobs, beginner and more advanced and most of them just drops shrapnels and some items you can sell with small MU but that's all.
Not sure if this is really the scenario now (I think this is main question of this topic) but honestly this made me wonder if I want to go back to game.
If all that there is for new player is to hunt mobs with expected outcome of 95% and struggling with break even with MU then the main thrill is gone for me.
Please say I'm wrong.

Please say I'm wrong.
Can't sorry.
UL loot pools are pretty much dried up. Nothing compared to your day. Unless you cycle a million a month you'll likely not get anything unless extremely lucky. Don't even factor UL drops into your markup calculations, their effect on returns ends up very negligible.

New meta. You will want to read up on Loot 2.0. There are numerous official posts as well as good analysis by Zho (and a few others, like John Black Knight/JBK).

Then you will understand that new L Armatrix guns are on par or even better than many 1.0 UL weapons (better DPP, DPS and efficiency). High-end L armors have low MU, medium armors very low MU (if you play casual).

You can get hold of very good UL guns and armors, but they are now part of a large mission chain (e.g. check out Cyrene's Imperium armor with evade+crit dmg bonus and stats better than Angel armor on highest upgrades), or part of the Mayhem system (3 mayhems per year where you can farm Mayhem tokens that are tradeable for very nice weapons).

Also, during TWEN, UL high end guns drop from Longtooth, Eomon and most other mobs, so this is a perfect time to get back into the game imo... TWEN armor drops this year as well (UL high end).

Last: State of the game = never better. Top weapons now go for 30k USD, and if you look at MA financial reports they're looking promising.

Welcome back, Your wrong, do more research then ask more questions, good luck. :)

Edit : Added smiley face

They days where we tt'd A101-A103 with glee are gone i am afraid.

Welcome to the age of shrapenl, oils and low end (l) stuff sometimes . (you are not wrong, game is different beast these days but that is progress i guess)

There are mobs still around with workable mark up at low range but i would look not on caly at this time.

:)

I guess Shakespeare, Hamlet!

is it correct or we not playing this game?

There are a lot of opportunities for players at different levels to go + or even hit a big jackpot. If you look at the same items that were common back in the old days, some drop more often and some less frequently. I looted nemesis harness (F) just the other day on a Caperon - something I could never dream of back in 2004. But if you compare the chance of looting a Mod fap today to pregold, then yeah - it is pretty dry (but has been since 2004). There are plenty choices on different planets to offset the TT loss - I think the game has never been in a better shape than it is now. Compared to 15 years ago information is vastly more accessible now and people are more prone to share advice. Welcome back!

But in all seriousness you can go hunt Paneleon or something they drop item, it's still the same you just have to know where to go. And that is research kept close to the chest by many.

Not hunted them in a while but jori on Arkadia seemed ok last time, hides, orange/olive paint but not sure current mu you would have to check.
Also Tiarak on ark hides used to have good mark up.
Is same as past, check EUwiki for loot tables and possible mu, then see of enough to cover the house rake with best eff/dpp you have.

As for mining the snow bit on ark had cave sap @200% or so but lbml link below will show mats per area.
None lootable pvp east of Fort Argus has Pyrite now could be worth a go.

I would really love to become a material crafter of all the different leathers and skins. But not enough of them drop for there to even be a market. A whole section of crafting completely useless. clothing, textures, coloring. if they just added more skins to loot, this stuff would gain value.

It's not a secret, it's just hard to notice the information because too many 50k skill points avatar owners are being smart and over spamming posts with dumb opinions.

Galer the OP last played in time pre CE2, i think pre EU back in Project Entropia when were no planets etc.

I just pointed out is not the same as back then when we tt'd A101-A103, Sync chips, electro chips tp1 chips, game was a different beast back then. Many weaps were non SIB, for a time Opalo and A106 was king (back then any amp on any weapon) :)
No vehicles and planets

To OP.

These days use only maxed weapons, look to get best efficiency and dpp you can, also look at some of items you have the old tt weapons sell for a bit along with A10 series amps.

Loot distribution now is smoother, less disaster runs than in old days and less highs but works better i think.

If you not done yet, get a good oldschool mentor who can adise you and go through chages etc, when you finish descipleship will get adj pixie or whatever planet you qualify on armour type ( is ok armour).

Codex is a nice touch now, as you complete stages get skill rewards you can claim, finish 5 and get a meta gain which is main attributes

Loot return now based on efficiency and looter profession level, there is a thread on pcf kindly done with plotted expected returns per each.

Buffs from pills, rings and some items to increase dps/reload/health regen/taming chances.

Instances/wave events and lot of new cool stuff

Game is same to some extent, but different in many ways, in most better now :)

Hope helps :)

Thank you all for replies.

Sole fact that there are different opinions in topic is really good.
I think I finished mentorship long time ago so that path is closed for me (when it comes to reward) but I will do more research and probably deposit small amount to taste the waters.
I will start fresh since I sold my skills back then but with old character.
Cheers!

You want items? Well to each their own. UL items don't drop that much now a days, rarer but not completely gone.
I mean I just love playing EU knowing I am free to play and can do whatever I want to do ingame to make peds.

Hunting, check. Lots of low level mobs can be profitable.
Mining, given! Grab an F-105 and go nuts on Arkadia.
Crafting, investment required, both time and money but plenty of profitable BPs ingame from different planets might I add.

The universe is your oyster! You make the game what you want out of it.

No idea what deposit level you're playing with, but if you go with 100 USD, you will survive and most probably profit, and also skill up nicely by hunting 20 HP Vixen on Rocktropia. The gears they drop are used in mining amp crafting and have 350-400% MU, steady.

For about the same budget 80 HP paneleon Weak on Cyrene are also decent, since they can drop paneleon pristine worth 2-300 ped MU. Lots of other opportunities around if you do some research.

I cannot find Vixens with 20hp. Did you mean this 10hp mob? http://rocktropia.entropiawiki.com/Info.aspx?chart=Mob&id=158
Seems bit too small. I'll probably will go with Barbarella and amp from gold package so that's one shot kill. Was thinking about exos or combibos (second one might be too big).
Use that amp on the tt pistol (M2100a), it's the best possible low level combo (unless you specificially want to stick with rifles).

I have been playing since 2017 and would love the opportunity to be your mentor on all the new things, and maybe you can tell me some good stories on the old things.

The game is still the same you wont get anywhere with hunting snablesnots

Many people play the game 10 years + active every day and Still fail to reach lvl 100 because theyr mind is Stuck on snablesnots, then they complain that they get no items ....

Since 2.0/looter skills
The most importent stats are
Efficiency
Looter skill
Dpp
Dps

And as allways hunt biger mobs to get better loot i talk about warlocks, elite drones, daspletor that kind of HP

I just used Snableshots as an example on how possible loot has changed.
Of course I don't want to hunt weakest mobs for years and it's obvious that better loot drops from better mobs but also mob needs to go hand in hand with bankroll, skills and eq so I will not start with big mobs because variance would kill me.

I did not mean to attack you or something :)

Bankroll is kinda complicated

I can tell you that this is directly linked to
Effi,looter,dpp,dps

A high effi weapon will enable you to use a lower Bankroll, but this also depends on the Planet ur on

For example caly got more shrp loot you can convert to 101 universal amo
While on arkadia or other planet you get more oils, so you need a biger bankroll untill you sell the stuff but this is a impact of dpp, while effi and looter desides the amount of total loot you get

I can runn 10k on calypso with a bp 70 for days
While on ark or cyrene i wuld have to travle every second day back to caly in order to sell stuff to the auction

In the end it comes down to this :
Effi and looter impact the amount of loot
Dpp and dps will impact what type of loot

High effi weapons are underrated , the down swing gets "shorter" thats what allows you to use a lower bank roll

Looter skill is something you gain over time, wuldnt be the best idea to use a low effi weapon to skill looter

Dps is importent because it allows you to hunt more mobs , and decrease the amount of Regeneration

Dpp directly impacts the loot table
Like Bad dpp 2 ped shrp 1 ped oil
Good dpp 1 ped shrp 2 ped oil
Its a diference if you Hit a global with 105% mu or 101%

Oh and the most importent , the game is a wave system means you get valueable loot only during waves but its nearly impossible to track/predict the waves if you dont got one of those secret little Programms some people use.

Prices did increase a little compared to the old entropia but also decreased

I can give you a short idea about the paywall

Bgh setup will cost you around 90 k ped to get everything like weapon armor and the best rings thats around 70-75effi and 3.2 or 3.5 dpp i cant temember
But you need a big bankroll

If you want a 85%+ setup your in the 200k ballpark weapons alone cost from 130-220k (its a lot of money but worth it compared to the other weapons)

You can buy cheaper stuff and runn a 20k setup but i rly dont recommend you doing this , unless your happy with just playing the game for funn

Me for example i'm not happy if i loose , i am forced to be in the 200k ballpark in order to be ok.

Oh yeah and if your like "i want to be uber" count in 325k for the weapon.

Over the years the game turned a little more complicated but thats good because we got stuff like pets who buff you, or rings. Stuff like that

If you take a trip to Monria and use the Tp there to teleport to DSEC9 then you go right from tp and hug the wall, you will find some MOB it's called DSEC Talus Prototype, these things rain items like it's no tomorrow. I don't think it's possible to lose money in that spot tbh.

This is also IMO one of the best location to get skill in the game. On a small budget.

in short, space sucks and new players without bankroll should avoid it at any cost since the only working economy is on caly. With a big bankroll it can open some opportunities but for most it’s a loss and not worth the hassle.

It's funny how in this single thread there are so different opinions :)
Go to Rockropia, only Caly, go to Monria, all planets not worth etc.
But I guess it's fine and shows that game can be different for different players.

There are many ways to Rome. The rocktropia idea is fine if you want to play at that level forever but for most players it gets pretty boring after an hour or two and with the income lower than the power cost to power your computer it doesn’t make sense.

Monria can work since you can TP back but all this space nonsense ruins it for players on low budget since the cost of traveling will kill your profit margin and be an added cost of gameplay. For people with big bankroll it does open some opportunities like I said but for the masses space only sucks and is an added cost.
