I was just wondering since online poker was locked by the feds, if eu would also possibly get locked due to some laws or something about foreign banking and possibly gambling. I know it is a game, but if it has banking licenses, couldnt they say something along the lines of people having a foreign bank account and seizing all assets related to it? Or see this as gambling..

Anyways, I hope this makes sense, im not too good at posting threads but have been a little worried about this.

Thanks for any replies:)

The Mindbank never became a reality.

There's no gambling in EU supported by MindArk, it's not allowed. Proof should be that you can still deposit from America using a common credit card, can you?

I can still deposit via credit card. Im just worried that the government would step in with some FBI logo and lame excuse when I try to log into Eu one day. I created this thread to see if they would have any chance or possible reason to lock EU. Maby some other reasons then the ones I stated in OP.

Anyways thanks for replies and future replies:D

Plus those 3 poker sites were shutdown mainly for fraud and money laundering.

Hmm I wonder how come they cant just legalise it ? wait a minate... are the native american's casino's now also banned?
How does it work ?

Exactly! This a very long and complicated story and I wish people would do a little background research before starting these threads.

MindArk have interacted with the American government on numerous occasions and their activity is accepted as simply a dynamic entertainment game. As long as MindArk walk with them there is no risk from the FBI trying to shut them down. The only thing stopping you from countined play will be.....you.:yup:

@ OP

wasn't the 3 poker sites that were shut down mainly accused and guilty for fraud and money laundering????

Are people missing the main point about the "poker" shut downs that has been in the US recently?

Only reading the topic??? :D

I live in Sweden, never read about the poker and for that matter do not give a flying f*ck about poker :D...
anyway about the shut downs I still understood it as there was something fishy with it...

much bigger concern then the fbi/cia, etc. would be consumer protection groups...

MA has been very careful over the years to make the point that EU is not gambling and doesn't allow gambling. I'm also a firm believer that the reason the removed PED from loot was to remove some of the impression of gambling (put cash in to action.. get cash payout..).

That being said, do I think its possible? Yes, I do, but really MA is a small fish compared to the sites the US govt has gone after, and I doubt it would raise much concern.

didn't we answer this like twice already this week?

MA has been in contact with US government for years Marco back when he worked for MA went to Washington to make sure EU didn't get shut down.

Cool, thank you for the replies. It seems there is nothing to worry about so I wont. Good to know Ma worked with the US to prevent stuff like that happening.

My probably very simplistic understanding is that:

(1) the mushroom growth of online gambling, mostly to the advantage of European based companies, threatened vested interests in the US;
(2) quite a while back such online gambling was declared illegal by the US, causing a huge share collapse in the share price of those European companies (whose main revenues came from the US);
(3) the assumption was that this US ruling would eventually be overturned, once Americans caught up with the technology and worked out a way to profit from it;
(4) most European online gambling companies withdrew from the US market, not wishing to be accused of illegal acts, waiting for the law to be changed;
(5) some remained. These were taking a big (and, as it turned out, foolish) risk, but they attracted big US high rollers who wanted to play with their world-wide peers;
(6) the sudden crackdown on these three companies has been taken as a signal that online gamling is about to be permitted again under a new regulated environment. That's why the shares of those companies that had withdrwan immediately shot up in value.

The main reason those 3 poker companies were targeted is they had methods of hiding deposits coming from American users by making them look like legitimate online purchases (but no goods were ever delivered).
MindArk is not hiding were the money is going or what it is being used for, so there is nothing to worry about (with respect to the poker site crackdowns).

BTW, did you know that the .COM sites have been released back to the companies by the FBI and any American customer of said poker sites will be able to withdraw their money?

I did not know the .com was released back. Last time I checked (yesterday) they were still locked. It is good to know tho since I happen to have had some funds tied up in there.
Thank you for replies:)
This has eased my mind with this issue and am grateful to have serious, knowledgeable responsesfrom a great community of people.

Fooky Fandango.

People sometimes complain that withdrawals from EU takes long time. In my opinion it a good think if they have some rules that makes the withdrawals a bit "slow/bothersome", just because it will make it a bit more difficult to use EU as a system to transfer "black money", gambling or similar operations.

Limits on how much you can deposite and withdraw each month is a good thing i believe. I don't know if they have a limit on the withdrawals today?

there are 141 domain names(different poker and casino sites) that fell under closer inspection of your goverment.
Last time i checked MindArk is not on the list.
But ofcourse, with virtual reality evolving on daily bases we can expect some strict guidelines being set in the future by most goverments.

I think that you mean years ago.

And even if MA contacted them was last week it doesn't matter.
You don't realize the US government is full of self serving idiots and criminals who would throw their own mother under a bus to make a dime.

I think one of the main reasons for moving from ped in loot to oils, etc. was for this very reason.
