A friend told me about this game and I am in the process of downloading it but...it all sounds to good to be true...I don't mean to nay say or anything against the game at all, I would just like to know how this works because it seems a little fishy to me...

My first question is, do i ever have to give any personal information (SSN, Bank account, credit card number etc.) if i only want to play and make PED's or real life cash? I understand i have to give my credit card if i use the direct deposit style thing, and if i want to buy in game PED's, but im curious if anything else requires it.

My second question is, whats up with the Cash Card? Did i obtain one when i filled out the account application? Or do i have to fill something else out in order to recieve it?

Im just going to kind of list them from here.. lol...

Does the cash card automatically update with the in-game currency i have?

Is there a 'catch' or anything with this cash card?

Are there hidden fees when processing between real life currency and in game currency?

Is it possible to just download this game today, not give any more information than i gave in the application process, and make real life money?

Like i said, i am really not trying to be a nay sayer, this all just sounds fishy to me (like a scam somewhat) and id like to find out what this is really all about. Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you for your answers.

1st Question - You only have to give bank details for a withdrawal, i think minimum is 1k ped (100 USD), withdrawals take some time - up to three months and there are transfer charges levied.

2nd Question- The cash card hasn't been working for a long time now, so in essence does not exist at this current time.

Finally yes it is possible to make money here, but will be extremely slow without a big investment or a lotta luck (think lottery) - it is a lot of fun though, and i would treat the game as a hobby more than a profit venture unless you have a large amount to deposit to work from.
It costs nothing to try though - so give it a go, but be warned this is a slow game kinda like a virtual life - don't expect to be a maxed out wizard, priest or whatever in 3 months - aint gonna happen .

All the best Norb :)

PS check this thread - first post is a good summary of the game

You may be a bit confused. The cash card has nothing to do with gameplay and is not necessary. The cash card program has a history of bugs and delays.
If you put you real information in your account when you signed up, and in the unlikely event you make a nice profit, you can withdraw the funds through your account interface and MA will send you a check.

IN game play, you will have a pedcard but that is strictly for in-game transactions.
But the game is fun, give it a go. Read the guides on this forum thoroughly.

Thank you very much for your responses...i've been trying to find a new game like this to consume my time and i really hope this is it. I've been reading through the forums and checking out all i can...its helping me understand so far. Thanks again.

it is a game. it uses real money.it is just like other mmorpg games except instead of paying regular amounts monthly, you pay what you want, when you want. also, unlike other mmorpgs you have a chance to recoup your playing costs.

if you intend on taking your peds out of the game and back in your pocket then you will have to have created you avatar with real info day one.

if you think this is all about making money aned a surefire way to get ahead, it is a game. you can make money , but you probally won't.

however, you will find some people are able to play without deposits and do just fine. pure profit. it just depends on your level of interest in the actual game

if you want to play this game to make "real life money", dont even bother downloading it.

if you dont mind investing some "real life money" into something virtual, for having fun, this is your place.

your first mistake is wanting to play the game for money....

Play it as a game, for that is what it is. and if you do really well, consider money a secondary bonus. But if you play this game soley for moneys sake, honestly....you will not have any fun.

Anyways, gl with your adventures,
Tamn

if you want to make money by playing a game check out online poker.

if you want to be a hero in a sci-fi world - welcome to the show.

Argh...its not that i just want to play for real life cash, that part of it just stumped me. I played WoW for almost five years now and its...well lets just say im not fond of it anymore...at all. I have truly been looking for a new game that will hold my interest and gives me something new (and yes some grinding...old stuff) to do everyday. Hopefully it will be this game that catches me up again.

Didnt mean to come off as 'i just want to play for money', sorry if i gave that impression. like i said, that certain part just threw me off hehe.

I don't mean to be a nay sayer but from what I am reading in your post this is NOT the game for you.

In all honesty there is a 90% chance that you will not make a cent and will lose most of what you deposit. That is just reality and it sounds like you intend to "make money" on this without depositing which means there is pretty much a ZERO chance that you will achieve what you intend to achieve.

Sorry to sound negative but I think one of the primary reasons this game has so many short time players is because they have expectations that are NOT in line with reality.

A good for instance is the fact that it is not uncommon to find people who have deposited over $10,000.00 USD in this game.

Go for it and have fun. Don't accept a mentor unless you get some recommendations on him. Find a good entry-level soc and join that, you will get lots of support (shameless plug for NBK Legion).
Welcome to the future.

here's the thing. remember raiding in a dungeon and an uber item drops and you use your DKP to buy that item?

well, in Entropia no items bind on pickup and everything is tradeable. so you can sell that uber item and withdraw the value.

that's the difference.

There is plenty of grind here for you - there is no level 80 cap but the slope gets steeper as your points rack up in your chosen profession.

You will find it very different to your previous MMO, but theres a wealth of info here - check out the guides available.

Welcome. :)

Well if you're used to playing wow then I suggest taking this approach

1st. Play for free DON't Deposit for at least a couple weeks to a month. Just LEARN LEARN LEARN. Get someone like ME a mentor to teach you how to do everything.

2nd Deposit montly your usual amount you would be paying for WoW so like 15$ a month. And have fun play smart and gets skills Efficiently

3rd the Thing is If you play for just that 15$ a month forever it still cost less then WoW cause you didn't have to buy the game initially or all the extra add-on/upgrades EU upgrades and software are always free.

4th After a year of playing at that budget you'll have at least some skills and some equipment that are worth money unlike in WoW where it's illigal to sell your stuff and you can't trade your aquired skills

5th SKILLING IS NEVER ENDING there is tons of stuff to do you've got guys here playing since before WoW and they are still skilling and NOBODY will every catch up to them. There is always going to be bigger weapons and bigger mobs to go after and with the addionn of new planets you will have just more and more stuff to do always.

lol that actually helps a lot. And thank you all again for your posts, it is helping me understand this new style :p

DOH To bad you have not been playing this game for the last 5 years. If you had been you would be Uber and surly be one of the few that can play the game without Depositing. If you have dreams of making RL Money playing this game you better be ready to max out your credit cards otherwise it will cost you cash to play on a regular basis. Remember Ma runs the game to make money not give it away, So if someone can earn money here many more need to loose it.

My advice Trust no one in the game unless you trust them in RL. There are scammers everywhere. GL and Have Fun ;)

Give me a pm if you need help, ill be more than happy to help you.

I believe most of previous post already covered the basic aspect of the game. But I would like to point out a few things for you to consider when you want to commit into this game .....

1. Even though downloading this game is free, this can be a very expensive game depending on your play style and your goal. Depositing USD15 a month would barely cover your ingame cost as you progress higher in any of the profesion. If you got the money to spare and enjoy the challenge then this game might be for you.

2. Read up all you can from the forum/guide, get a GOOD MENTOR and join a good Soc. I stress a good mentor because there are people out there farming new player to get the "mentor edition" gift. But there good mentor out there. Ask your soc member for mentor (if you manage to join one of the good soc)

3. Everything had value in this game thus there are scammer out there scamming your hard earn PED. If a deal appear too good to be true, it most probably is. But there are also alot of good samaritan out there as well. Just becareful.

4. Forget about earning money. You'll basically lose more than you earn in this game. This game behave more like a casino than most people like to admit. Control your spending by putting limit to your activities. (all the fun stuff cost money). Also for the same reason this game can be very addictive.

5. Good things about this game is that at the end of the day, if you want to quit, you can still recover back some of the money you deposited by selling your items, skill and assets. If you lucky enough to get a uber stuff, well, you might even profited.

6. Another good thing about this game is that because of the cost and RCE, most of the player here are mature player. You'll unlikely to encounter snooby teenager and immature player in this game which would make the game more enjoyable.

If after considering all this point and you still like to join the Entropia community, I heartily welcome you.:yay:

Well if you want your ava to look like the one you had in WOW be prepaired to pay thousands of dollars! This IS the most expensive game to play online period! But you can get lucky sometimes:) So tell me punk "do you feel lucky" :) GL
