Since the beginning of mankind, man has battled man in order to determine who would be dominant.
As time grew over the ages, the common trend was shifting away
from physical strength and more to intellectual capabilities.
In the future, pure wit, teamwork, and amazing strategy
will determine who will reign. Therefore, an event to determine
who would be able to claim this title will be held soon.

As we do spend our time in a universe that is way ahead of our time, we have felt to freely extrapolate this, and come to the ultimate event;

The real-life chess event

This is not an event we will allow any average Joe to participate in though.
We expect this event to be an event that will draw massive amounts of
people to both compete and watch. A few rules have been created:

1) Your team contains exactly 16 people (please list full names and their society).
2) TWO of your people own Sombreros.
3) TWO of your people own Top Rex Hats.
4) TWO of your people own berets.
5) ONE of your people owns a Rancher hat (male).
6) ONE of your people owns a Bowler hat (female).

Sign up your team in advance, and battle the others.
There will be competent judges overlooking the battle.
The winners walk away with eternal fame, and a prize of currently
250 PED (any donations will be very welcome).
The amount will be increased, depending on the exposure and
participation the event gets.

A random drawing will select two teams from all of those who signed up.
The latest time to submit your team will be

Friday March 24, 23:59:59 MA time.
The event itself will take place

Saturday March 25, at 20:00:00 MA time
sharp in the Main Complex Area of Club NEVERDIE.

Your avatars will act as chess pieces, and a single player on your team
will tell the judges their team’s next move.
To ensure the event will not last an eternity, the maximum amount of time
per move is 1 (one) minute.

To ensure no chess rules will be broken, Lykke and ViagraFalls will judge/oversee
the event, with several tools at their disposal.

First of all a real chessboard (let’s face it, the masters prefer this approach too),
and second of all by using one or more chess program simulators on their laptops,
which will allow them to move pieces for both teams and receive feedback
from the game whether there is a chess situation, or when an invalid
move was conducted (even the masters will loose track at times).

Suggestions for decent programs are welcome :)

The judges will both okay the move in teamchat
(which will be the teamleaders and the judges)
and then call out the appropriate person to make the move.
When that happened, your move has been made, and you are no
longer allowed to undo it. The avatar in question moves, and the
opponent takes a turn.

OMG Lykke and Viagra, this is just masterfully cool. Too bad I will not be able to participate (weekends are for the girl :))

You're aware that even with a max of 1 min per move, a chess play can last quite some time, aren't you ? :silly2:

Anyway, nice idea of event ! Hope you'll have enough ppl :)

Great idea, gives me some ideas too.. like what if the players that moved had to fight it out.. ;)

just an idea

lol...president of my HS chess club..this would be easy... :D

Chess man, that is kool. I love the game. Wish I could be there.

As an answer on Realityport, I will quote ViagraFalls:

The pawns will be players. As for debatable rules, we'll select a set of rules, and stick to those. If a rule used is not in that set of rules, it's not a valid rule

As for lag, we'll see. Please do keep in mind the primary target of the event is aimed at fun.

People, set up your teams. The teamleader should be a person who knows about the game and moves. When you have a fully team, pm us with the names or post here. If you are looking for a team, you are welcome to post here aswell!

:D

I like this event idea. Very creative!

Great idea , i might take out my dusty chessgame and start working on my moves :D

Start working on a team too then :D

THIS IS A BUMP

... and its nearly free - except for those who reads this.
You HAVE to set up a team for this awesome
and very funny tiny event :D

GOME ON PEOPLE

...there must be some real nerds out there,
who knows how to rock wit da chess-pieces

:dunno:

Nerds yes...transportation is an issue for some...

Just a friendly reminder.

So far no teams have been signed up. If we get no teams, we will be forced to cancel the event and spend the 250 PED on cheap booze and lottery tickets...
