Wait, bit confused here. Let me make sure I understand things.

  • Person accidentally sold 10 cld for price of 1.
  • Most of us agree that in these cases, the ethical/moral thing for the buyer to do is compensate the seller. Perhaps paying fair price for only 9, as a sort of "idiot tax" without totally ripping someone off.
But...
  • Person says they need that money to pay rent
  • However person has also looted rings
  • Rings only available through strongboxes
  • Strongboxes only available through depositing
  • Therefore, person who needs to pay rent is depositing potential rent money into a game
Why would someone who needs money to pay important bills (even if simply planning for the future) deposit?
Is it poor money management or an immoral lie to guilt trip people?
I live in Las Vegas. Most folks are smart enough not to take their whole paycheck down to the casino. and those that are dumb enough learn a harsh lesson.

So...
  • CLD buyer should act morally and
  • CLD seller should either act morally or learn basic money management

Or am I misunderstanding what's going on here?

Still haven't got in contact with buyer.

Hi everyone!

Thank you for helping me out!
I still haven't found out who is the new owner, due to my stupid ass closing the message of the trade.

Though I have set up a support-case asking for whom the buyer is, just so that I could talk to him/her.

After all..
It's all my fault that I rushed through that sale without even noticing that all 10 deeds went off for 1851PED, but still I'd hope that someone that got lucky and bought them would atleast say;

- "Hey I'm sorry about what happened, I got the CLD's that you sold."

And even if that person wouldn't like to give something back, I'm talking about honesty and reputation here..
The worst thing for me would be if that someone is just sitting there on them, telling me that they didn't get them and just lies me up in the face.

It's the worst case scenario for me, because I'd lose the trust in people in this game...

But.

If the new owner of the deeds would come to me and give something back just as a gesture of kindness.
I honestly would be happy to host an event in honor of that person as a gesture of gratitude.

For me, honesty is everything in this game. I mean, why should we lie to eachother, if we're gonna be playing it together for a long time in the future.

Reputation and kindness is everything and it's not comparable to any currency, what so ever.

So, if the new owner would like to talk to me, just hit me up with a PM in-game and I'd appreciate that.

Hey John.

I totally understand what you're questioning.

I was going to withraw because I will need money for rent/bills in the future 3months as I work during summer and winter and that amount of PED's would've made it easier for me to save up money for a new apartment, as I'm just renting one right now.

Though it is all my fault, as I had no idea of what I was doing when I sold them. I put in 1850PED in the window, and thought that it would be 1850PED for each and one of the deeds. But as it is now, I learned a valuable lesson to not rush through auction-sales like that.

I'm respectfully agreeing to all cases that you've taken up here and I appreciate your interest in the case, that has appeared through my bad knowledge in trading CLD's on auction.

Id be VERY surprised if for those of us who have been playing over 10 years, have not made at least once auction mistake over our career.

This is simply just a very expensive one , and those who have mocked someone in such a position should be ashamed themselves, even more so if his 'luck' of getting a summer ring seems to provide some type of balance for you. God help us if this community starts to become full people who start judging people based on external events they cant control and using them as some type of karma for when accidents happen .

Hope you manage to contact the new owner of the deeds and see what can be done to rectify the situation.

i mean... someone spends his money on strongbox gambling and wins big with 2 summer rings... after spending the money on strongboxes he needs to withdraw again to pay the rent... and then he makes a mistake and loses a third of the won money again... sounds an aweful lot like karma because he shouldnt have gambled on strongboxes in the first place when the money was needed anyway.

and yes i lost around 800 ped through stupid mistakes as well. shit happens but i didnt get lucky to loot items worth several 10k peds.

I bought 10 of each box both times I got the ring, just so you know. and I'm not like the other people buying thousands of boxes.

And to make you understand correctly, I'm not withrawing because I need so. I'm doing it as it's the smartest thing to do.

So before getting on hand on things, know the facts before complaining.

yeah, why would I hide that from anyone, it's a matter of timing and luck. That's it.

And if I have to correct you as you're correcting me all the time, I must say that it actually is 40$ of deposits. but I've deposit alot before that, earlier years.

Why are you questioning him so hard. How or why he deposits or withdraws is irrelevant and none of your business. He has already said it was entirely his fault, I say mindark is guilty too.

This kind of things happen too often, fixing them is as simple as making the orders pay whatever they offer and not what the seller puts as his buyout. Just with that simple change in game logic Arthur would have gotten a fair payment for his items, whatever the order was offering.

The current system is not only unfair but it's a cesspool for auction mistakes and alt avatars who feed on those mistakes. The result can be as severe as people leaving the game completely, as has happened in the past.

Put yourselves in his skin and quit being so self-centered and jealous.

Good luck, I hope you get your stuff back.

Hi again everybody!

I've just got an answer from MindArk about who the buyer of my CLD's was.

26c3116ce0.png

The name is "Lina Tora Luned" and I would just like to see if I can talk to the person who owns that avatar.

If anyone has any good tips or can link me the avatar-link of that player, that would be of much help, as I cannot search for the name in the player-registry. (probably because the player is "incognito")

I just want a chat with the person, so if anyone of you could help me out I'd be very happy!

Very surprised MA named the avatar, though I suppose it is there on the auction message notification.

Good luck getting anything from them though.

Sadly the case, but not always. I once bid 1000ped on a 10ped esi, and ofc the bid receiver could not be contacted.

Yea, most of the time this is a player who has purposely placed an order offering a very low offer on deeds. The order is just sitting there like a spider web, waiting for someone to make a mistake. All of us could do this and try to get each other peds this way but most players don't. I guess this is the same as Space PvP - you're on your own and no rules are broken.

Here are some orders currently in auction just waiting for the next prey :)

I thought the highest order won the bid in cases like this, so it has a higher chance of being a buyer that actually was paying well???

ty you know way more than I do. I see the pending orders al the time and I see this happening all the time so, I figure the orders are getting filled somehow. For this reason I've never bought CLDs - they seem so risky.

the top buyer is only offering more potentially, but if the seller makes a mistake in asking price then that mistake is the price it gets sold at to the top orderer (if the order has enough free volume).

It has been said time and time again that MA need to change the AH functions or at the very least the messaging. Yes, they added a message, but a stupid one that people grow accustomed to ignoring. As deeds are sold differently to other stuff, there really should be a different warning.

As MA refuses to do anything (sensible), is there anything the playerbase can do?
One idea would be to set up some kind of fund/job to try and maintain the best orders and have an agreed 'rescue' rate. However, this would have costs to run and potentially be a BIG hassle, so I'm not surprised that I've not seen anyone else even suggest such an idea.....

complete BS! think before you blame and write such stupidity on PCF, about someone you don't know.
As far as i know, an order was placed for 1600 per deed at the beginning of the year during a whole month and more.
"Supply and demand" is the Keyword in here. If people are willing to sell items for less than 10% of the actual MU, its their choice.

I did such dumb auction too. At that time I lost only one deed with no compensation. In fact if MA should do their job on this topic better. I would support Angel O2 Mercer thread
Maybe some message to the user would be helpful. Like a message "The transaction you create is less than 10% of the current MU!" .

@Lizza-Marklund pls pm ingame for an appointment in game, to get the correct value.

Honestly after reading this thread I was getting worried that the community was going to shit. Least I know who I will and won't do business with. Ever.

Glad to see a positive outcome. Made this work day a little brighter.
