MSR - Athena Spaceport TP Run #5 - 100309

SATURDAY - OCT 3RD - 21:00 IN-WORLD TIME​

MindStar Radio (MSR) is holding its 5th Athena Spaceport TP Run this Saturday at 21:00 in-world time, and is a weekly event. We are also supporting the efforts of the Participant PA Guides to help new players acquire the East Scylla Mountain TP in order to be able to join in one of the Athena Spaceport TP Runs.

This event is open to everyone who either needs the Athena Spaceport TP, or who already have it but would like to join us in the run to help support the effort, and shield those who are less protected ... not to mention all the fun we have along the way. It's a long but adventurous run, and the scenery is just breathtaking. And speaking of scenery ... there is also a photo contest associated with each one of these runs (check below).

We will meet Saturday at 21:00 in-world time at the East Scylla Mountains TP where we will begin our trip. Be prepared to spend a good deal of time on this journey, because it is a long trek with mob encounters along the way, but this will make it an interesting adventure.

PHOTO CONTEST

After reaching our destination at the Athena Spaceport, the group trip will end, and everyone will be on their own to explore this incredible city. During your exploration, be sure to capture photos and select your most unique and/or breathtaking view of the Athena Spaceport city to submit as an entry into the photo contest. There will be one single winner, and determining that winner will be done in a very unique way (see below). The prize for each photo contest is 100 PED.

HERE ARE THE RULES:

• You must be a member of the TP run group to be eligible
• Names of each member present on the trip will be recorded
• You are allowed to post as many photos as you like
• Photos must be taken at Athena Spaceport
• All photos must have a clear screen (no dashboard/icons)

The following screen shot points out in red outline how to achieve a clear screen through utilizing the keyboard mapping function in-world and placing the appropriate icons from your Action Library onto your keyboard.

CHOOSING A WINNER

The winner of each Athena Spaceport TP Run Photo Contest will be chosen using the EuroMillions Draw method. Everyone's eye through the camera lens is subjective, and therefore, worthy of merit for effort and personal composition and creativity.

HERE'S HOW THE DRAW METHOD WORKS:

• Based on EuroMillions Lotto

• Every Friday, this lottery generates 5 numbers + 2 lucky star numbers

• These 7 numbers (with the zeros removed from the lucky star numbers) that are posted at the lotto site the Friday after each photo contest will be used to determine the winner

• The “Modulo” mathematical function will be used to calculate the winning number … you can find information about this function here.

• A number will be assigned to each photo in the order posted
..... beginning with the number zero

• Each entrant’s name, along with designated number will be updated in the original post

• As an example: if there are 25 entries, and the EuroMillion numbers the following Friday after the photo contest are … 9 – 14 – 19 – 21 – 34, with the star numbers being 05 and 07 … the zeros would be removed from the 05 and 07 and the number used with the Modulo function would be: 91419213457 … and the winning photo entry number would then be: 7

• You can test this formula out yourself by activating your Windows calculator (Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Calculator) … enter 91419213457, click on the “Mod” key, then enter 25 and press the equal symbol … and Voila!!​

LIVE COVERAGE

Each Athena Spaceport TP run will be broadcast live on MindStar Radio (MSR). Upbeat music will be played to keep the energy high during our trek to the Athena Spaceport, and each participant is invited to submit their own selections to be included on the playlist.

Each submitted selection will be reviewed to make sure that it is in compliance with standards set not only by MSR, but the EULA and our radio station host as well. Post all song requests in this thread and include full artist name and song title prior to the start of each TP run.

Unfortunately ... no road trip this week Softy, because I'm working on a Wednesday's Who's Who for this coming Wednesday, Oct 7th, and as most know, these are major productions. The profile person was changed at the last minute, so we're scrambling to get everything done. I will probably have one next week to make up for it, and go from there every other week, but ...

For today ... (while I'm waiting on my profile person to get back to me) ... I was thinking we grab some newbies and others who don't have the East Scylla Mtn TP (like Mirko) and do a TP run with them so they can join the Athena Spaceport TP run at 21:00. You up for joining us for that?

To Mirko ... let us know when you're going to be in-world and we can try to meet up with you at Port Atlantis. We like to do the TP runs from there to Swamp Camp, to Billy's, to Camp Phoenix, to Orthos West Mound, to Fort Fury, to Zychion (there are newbie events there), and then on to East Scylla Mtn TP.

Thanks Dragger ... I'm at Eurus, but see that Mirko is on his way to East Scylla, so I'm going to head to PA to see if we can gather up a few people to run TP's with. Kruts is with me now, but could use more MSR Honor Guards in the run like we always have ... I'll check the FL to see who's on. Catch you in-world.

Another great run ... we started off early gathering newbies at Port Atlantis and did a TP run through Swamp Camp, then onto Billy's, Orthos West Mound, through Chug's Hideout, and then onto East Scylla Mountain TP where we met up with the others who were waiting for the Athena Spaceport TP run to begin at 21:00. We made it there with about 5 or 10 minutes to spare. We were going into a night cycle, so we passed out glow sticks (TT swords) at Port Atlantis, and then gave those at East Scylla one who didn't have them. It helps along some of the trails that have barely any light at all ... until the moon is brighter.

And as whisperwind says ... the Athena run was not without a few challenges. That's why a run like this where you have a very large group, you need to exhibit patience, understanding, and caring so that you don't lose people along the way, but ... there will always be those, like Cyber, who have been on these runs from the beginning ... an MSR Ambassador and Honor Guard, and STILL can't stay away from the edges and drop-offs!

Thing is ... any number of obstacles can come into play here ... from computer crashes, to someone experiencing major lag, to testing their skill on a level mob they shouldn't and getting bit a little too hard, and of course, the radio stream going a muck. This was the first time the radio server went down during a run (I think), but I was able to reach 711 on MSN and he was able to get things working again (thank you).

So yes ... we do run into challenges along the way, but everyone is usually understanding, and of course, we have the regular nutbars that come with us each week that keep the troops entertained in chat banter. You have NO idea the kinds of topics that come up on these runs. At one time, I probably could have said that it was all CyberTrash's fault, but I can't do that any more ... well, maybe ... since Cyber has had quite an influence on the other regulars. All in all ... these runs are quite the fun, and despite the minor challenge we might experience along the way now and then, it's all worth it.

I managed to get more photos ... that's because this time, Adam Tau was leading us into the city on a different route than we normally take, so it made it more interesting ... not to mention scenic. Thank you Tau for assisting with this week's run, it's greatly appreciated, and ... yes, it's a full-time focus to keep it going as smoothly as possible, so despite this was your first time with such a large group, you did very nicely my dear.

Also ... I managed to get a bit of film footage as well, so I'll be putting that together as soon as I can and posting a video. Thanks to the regulars who always come out to help, as well as those who were with us for the very first time and did their best to work the route with us to keep it focused ... it's much appreciated ... especially since we always have such a large group with these runs.

Just as a heads up ... MSR will be working with Oleg and his EU World Championship Boxing Event to provide some live coverage as much as possible, so the Athena TP run may be on hold for a bit ... unless we can squeeze it in somewhere ... and perhaps even during the week sometime. Check the MSR sub-forum under the Entropia Radio forum in the Hosted Sites section of EF for updates and any announcements regarding these runs.

In the meantime ... even though mindforce is suppose to be implemented this coming week, some of our new players are unable to acquire the equipment necessary to utilize this feature, so MSR will still be doing regular TP runs, as well as the Athena Spaceport TP runs when we can to help. Also ... my socmate Mac has donated 3 Lesser Teleport Chips that he looted and brought up to full condition to give away as prizes, so MSR will be having a newbie event soon with an opportunity to not only win one of these Lesser TP Chips, but also an implant and an implanter, along with some Mind Essence to set you up for teleporting around Calypso. Stay tuned for an announcement soon.

wow, a particular report as always. Well i wanted to say how I experienced Athena TP run. I was gonna start it with rest of people from East Scylla mountain in 21:00 as scheduled but i had some technical issues and i was late 15-20 mins (late to start of run). As I didn't know which way you all went (same happened me on Friday with Mindstar party Island btw ) I started TP run alone. First problem I came up with is when I crossed water is that I couldn't get to the other side, due to high terrain so i lost another 5-10 mins When i crossed water, after few mins I got DC and ended up on some outpost (north of Eon). As i tried to move south I got killed by all levels of Atrox and I was stuck there for 2 or 3 revival times. Then I met Cappy who said he was on Mindstar Tp run but also got DC and ended at that outpost.. Happy to hear that, because I knew I won't be alone this time, I asked him can I go with him. So we wen't to Eon first, and then we ran to Athena. Along the way we met TP run party, well I got DC again . After all the fun with jumping from platforms, now I was proudly part of TP run afterall, although just for short distance. Next Athena TP run I'll go from beginning just for fun of it, because I missed most of it.

Enjoyed radio station last night was good! to be honest been playing mmorpg`s many years and not done community event that fun in at least 5 years.
