My loot theory

mhm very interesting

Auction fees to?

Good question. I don't have an answer to that. Shall we guess?

1) Go towards someone's next uber loot
2) Go towards your own uber loot
3) Go towards MA / SDS

I don't know, but somebody does, and they aren't telling. :)

hmm... MA changed their website...

http://planetcalypso.eu/en/node/71 used to say
How does it work ?
So, how does an affiliate program look like on a game concept that's basically free, with no download fee or monthly subscription fees ? How does the operator actually earn money ?

Each tool, weapon, clothes, basically everything a player can utilize has a specific basic value. This base decreases by a certain preset amount every time an object is used until it reaches almost zero value and has to be "repaired".

The correlating amount of the in-game currency PED and therefor 10:1 US-Dollars of what the item decays gets distributed 50:50 between Mindark PE AB as operator of the Entropia Universe and the planet partner where the participant has the account registered and pursuing its activities, in our case First Planet Company and Planet Calypso.

Another source of income are fees and commissions attached to the in-game auction and player's shops. Every sale on the auction and shops produces a sales commission that also gets shared 50:50 between Mindark and the Planet Partner.

the url the 50/50 quote is from isn't there anymore???

cache:
http://webcache.googleusercontent.c...&gl=us&client=firefox-a&source=www.google.com

suspect they changed it after reading https://www.planetcalypsoforum.com/...t-Partners-!&p=2684568&viewfull=1#post2684568

I guess #3, I hope #2.

If totally #3) MA/PP Loves resellers.
If totally #1) Players should love resellers
If totally #2) ... Depends on your understanding economics...

Mastermesh quoting MA said:
...a sales commission that also gets shared 50:50 between Mindark and the Planet Partner.
The sales commission could still be less than the total fee. (Say, 90% to Player(s), 10% to MA/PP)

One thing I do love Colbey Kal, is your avatar.

The rest, I've no idea about. :)

Link fixed.

SDS, let us use animated images!:whip:

Sorry, I was a bit annoyed while reading the thread so far! .............probably coz I had higher expectations!

1. Nothing new to me. (some agreed, some disagreed, while others unknown)

2. Was hard to follow few responses as some were answering without quoting the original comment.

3. Some of the discusions, for example "Regen", did not get clarifications ..... (Regen is actually very important when one is trying to hunt a high hp mob with under power gun)

Probably the best point in your OP is this (especially for the newcomers):

14) You are paying for entertainment, no subscription. Cinemas, pubs, nightclubs & casinos don't offer refunds.

EU is a game for entertainment.
... and one has to pay for it! And a minority would make some money out of your fun.
.... and one can be one of those minority with proper knowledge, skills and patientce.

You do very well mining (you got how much narc today? 2000 ish? ) I doubt you understand people losing hunting any more.

Not a criticism but just how it is. You do seem to have had your empathy glad removed at birth though - and this is from someone who saw you landed at Swamp Camp in 2008 and a former friend.

No, don't just make a comment like that. If you're attempting to say something, please just say it. Don't tell someone to go and do a large task and then attempt to understand what it is that you're hinting at.

Explain what you're trying to say, don't give hints and suggestions.

I'm perfectly aware of the regen rates on both mobs, in fact, if you see my stat tracking thread you'll see that I just 20 seconds ago posted the actual regen stats for furor.

Could be my mistake. I miss read above that mikeemoo didn't see regen affect on loot. Health regen in my opinion is a way ma wanted to cause it to cost more to play. I don't know what theory everyone subscribes to, but I think the game records kill count, click count (craft), bomb/probe dropped, not just ped cycled. If it cost you 5 peds for 1000 hp non regen mob but 8 peds for a 1000 hp regen mob your going to have a difference in cost and need more peds to cycle through to see normal loot whatever that is.

Thats what I was trying to say.

I dont agree with your theory, starting from item #1.

However, the point of this post isnt to discuss your therory but to discuss about who state it: you. :p

You are a very specific kind of player, and your experience of EU is so particular that you shouldnt even try to present any loot therory. (Dont take it bad, its not an attack...) IMO a theory should be based on observation of the largest generic sample, and not one exception.

Lets take the next president election in any country. Surveys are done on 1000+ average people, not one particular one.

Im also 5 years in EU, connecting daily, and none of your point match my own experience. ;)

None of it?

That is why its a theory and not fact.

5 years of observation. Some will agree, some will disagree. Stay friends no matter what.

I reserve the right to edit any and all of it should the need arise.

np i will copy and paste it later on then it wasn't important and its completely off topic. .. and i hate the 200 email limit too..

Does visitor messages work ? I've ranted over and over about the 200 email limit. If emails existed in game like with Eve, there wouldnt be bloody problem but roll on 2012 eh ?

In the end I shout it out loud and copy the person in, probably not the best way but then ah well eh?

After almost 2 years ive seen this . Remember this is for my AVA so dont neg rep me whatever for this .

Grind and Whine and loose , But remember u get skills wich I dont .

My approach is in and out fast , the Global always occur on the first 5-10 mobs , if not I just turn around and do something else , or just soc chat ,clean storage , sort my stuff in my flat or anything else that needs to be done

I dont just logg in and grind , i try to think a bit and guess where my ava is having the best shot ,or drop

And Perc works whatever u all think :wise:

Go towards MA / SDS (or NDS / NI), as evidence by the pages that were talking about Calypso referal program and NI presentation to investors.

Very interesting, i've totally opposite views!

So I have been thinkg about hese lines:

1) Everything you lose in Entropia is noted, and recorded for future reference.
2) When your losses are paid back is random.
3) Entropia attempts to repay / stop you losing more than 90% of TT value over the long term.

(Im hunter only, so I will discuss about this only proffesion.)

Unless I read them wrong, the above lines say that whatever the way I hunt, anybody will get 90% sooner or later.
So hunting with a eco (maxed) or uneco (unmaxed old weapon) will result to the same result on long term.
This is scaring because it means that eco is worthless.
If eco is worthless, an ImK.II should not be valued more than a regular one.
Also it would mean that markup would be totally based on wrong assumptions
The whole EU economy would be wrong, with MU icons on items and Auction, all this being fake?
I simply cant belive this.

My question is:
- Do you hunt with unmaxed weapon and uneco gear ?

If you answer no, then you dont believe in the lines 1 - 3 of your theory.

regarding nr3 if MA wants to repay me to 90% i'd be a very happy man lol but i'm not staying up waiting for it... in a few years who knows then maybe

Did you see point 15) ?

I've only used hunting equipment I've maxed, although I may try out a Justifier Mk2 I've had for years at some point - before I reach level 100.

No I didnt. But now I read it :
15) Are you using equipment that you can use at 100% efficiency? Dont complain about losses if not.
And now I'm even more confused. It is consistent with lines 1 to 3?

Come on, tell the truth, you were drunk when starting the thread, right? :p
:beerchug:

I believe his point was that the 90% return is from TT vs TT with the most eco setup you can use. As you use unmaxed weapons and weapons with less eco you can see that 90% return drop.

but... i have no proof :)

Thanks Hotei, that may be a better explanation.

It's a theory thread, and subject to constant revision. I've had to junk many things I've thought were true, as they failed to happen. :)

If they contradict each other then something may need to be altered, although I dont see what is wrong with 2)

This is a major change.

Because if we now consider the "most eco setup" to be the basis for the average 90% return, we finally arrive to... a fixed (average) loot per mob.

Which means that the system doesnt need to track the decay, but only pays a loot for each mob killed, whatever the cost of the kill was. This is the condition for the Eco and the uber Markup of uvber eco gear.

This modified therory makes more sense IMO, but the average loot is far above 90% of minimum cost, considering the average 5% of overkill every player pays. Probably MA/FPC takes 1%, or more probably it is a fixed amount taken eevry month from loot pool to pay the salaries, charges, etc...

Damage per second and range absolutely come at a premium. The faster you can kill something, the less armor and fap costs you incur, which in turn, is being eco.

If misses are not included in the cost returned, then having better skills and using maxed equipment still would provide a better return.
