Personal Storage Terminals...

Public storage terminals have been introduced to CND.

Personally I think storage terminals on CND will encourage more people to go there to hunt and mine...

Public storage is planet-specific, and you will only get access to items placed in storage on that particular planet. If you are at Club Neverdie, you will not have access to items in storage on Calypso, and vice versa.


So 'public access' storage terminals only allow us to add or remove items either at CND or on Calypso... That seems reasonable...

Items placed in estates have been moved to storage. To simplify the re-furnishing process, estate owners receive personal storage terminals in their storage. These can be placed on the estate and used like regular storage terminals.

So here's the point of my thread...

If, pre VU10, I owned one apartment on Calypso and one at CND, I would now have 2 x 'personal storage terminals' in storage (waiting for apartments to be reopend so they can be used)...

If I placed my Calypso apartment related 'personal storage terminal' in my CND apartment and did the opposite with my CND apartment 'personal storage terminal' would I then have access to CND items on Calypso and vice versa?

To clarify, I mine on CND and place my ores into the PUBLIC storage terminal on CND... Then I fly to Calypso and go to my apartment and access my PERSONAL storage terminal, (the one given to me by FPC that relates to my CND apartment) will I then be able to access those ores?

If this theory works I know this would mean that items placed in 'public storage' on CND would not be accessable from my 'personal storage' in my CND apartment.

This assumes that the 'personal storage terminal' is simply a convenience gift that FPC has given us to allow storage general storage access in the comfort of our own apartments. But this FPC statement implies this to be true...

These can be placed on the estate and used like regular storage terminals.

Sorry if it is confusing, but it is the best way I could describe my thoughts

Personal storage is just a link to the storage terminal, so how it should work, is a personal storage put on CND will link to storage on CND, on Calypso link to storage on Calypso. So, it would not link between planetary bodies, such as CND and Calypso, only on the planet/moon itsself.

I think you are also confusing the personal storage terminal and the resettlement boxes.

You get a resettlement box for each apartment with the items in it.

The personal storage terminal is a separate device.

i dont really get why we have personal storage terminals? all my stuff is in resettlement boxes yeah, so when i take it all out and re place it all in the apartements what am i going to need to store in a personal storage terminal?

As there will be storage on CND now why would i bother going upto my apartment to use a personal storage terminal? I just dont get the need.

So i would like to swap both of mine for a personal crafting terminal please

OnTarget I am not confusing the two because both of my apartments were completely empty, therefore I did not get a resettlement box with my stuff in it, but I did get two personal storage terminals...

You actualy answered that yourself.

Its a personal storage, so only you (deed holder) can use it.

To bad its a (L) item, this would be a great adition for a shop.
No need to run around checking stock and refilling it.

The personal storage terminal is provided as a service. As you know, the appartments are a lot further from the storage-terminals as before. So, yes, you could take the settlement boxes, and walk slowly, very slowly over to your appartment every time you wanted something from them, or take items out from them and take your items to appartment, nobody is stopping you.

However, most people do not like to walk, and prefer to run. So, what they have done, is give you the storage terminal, so you can take that, run to your appartment, put it down, and click it like the normal storage terminal to get all your items from your resettlement boxes.

Remember, the personal storage terminal is not a seperate storage-area such as your inventory is. It is only a link to the storage terminal you already use every day in the various settlements of Calypso. This means, when you click it, you will get the same window on your screen as you get when you click the storage terminal in a service center.

Just like you can put a personal crafting terminal or mannequin or shopkeeper in your appartment, which everybody can use, the personal storage terminal can also be used by everyone.

Since it is just a link to the regular storage-terminal, they will see their own storage, when they click it. And, it will of course decay with usage as well.
