It can happen only at the cost of any further update to the "modern" one :D

I would like back mobs that would attack each other.
I would like to be able to put down my items outside my apartment.
I would like to be able to sit/lay down on floor.
I would like to be able to see my loots total TT value in team chat
I would like to have back the trade animation when you accept or deny a deal.
I would like actual MU in loot and explosive projectiles bps gone or changed so the nanocubes are crafted from resources from mining/hunting.
I would like to see 10k atrox young or equivilant mob happen once every week.
I would like for MA to remove all planetery auctions and just have one universal auction for all planets. Also remove transfer fee from selling/buying stuff in this global auction.
I probably would like too see a lot more stuff but this is all could think of at this time.

During my visit at MA for the workshop in october 2018, I brought up the fact that there are people, including myself, that would be willing to pay money to just walk around in a pre-VU 9 version of the game. No RCE needed, just a virtual universe to remind us of the good old days.

Some MA people took a note, some raised an eyebrow, some gave a blank stare.

Don't hold your breath waiting....

I am totally nostalgic about Torque looks. Never really understood why they switched to CryEngine barbie bs. For the game itself, yes and no, it had loads of issues.

They should have 2 variants of entropia universe

1: the current rce model
2: pre cry engine no rce subscription based

Play which ever suits you...it can be done I'm aure...as they still have the old source code just need to load it up on to separate servers make some amendments and presto.

The only thing that can prevent it from happening is the money greed which ma has alot of...it even worries the devil himself... these people are something else if I must say...and not the desire of fun and stability and a place and name in the gaming world.

Indeed, the nostalgic VU is different for every player. 5 years ago? 10 years ago? 15 years ago?
The time of the Opalo and Korrs 400 (L)? Years before that when you still had a sweat cap?

Ohh but wait! There would be people complaining about missing their melee and MF amps. And not having their rings. And they would have to use old weapons again that they haven't maxed.

Yeah! We got PEDs in loot back!! :yay:
Boohoo!! PEDs got zero markup, shame on you MA!

Nostalgia is a bitch. Some things have been improved, others gotten worse. But in the end EU has gone forward imo.

[anal mode] It was Gamebryo pre-CE2, not Torque :)

If nothing else, the switch to CE2 was a great PR stunt that brought a lot of players. And I do like the old EU more but suspect that it's a nostalgia for simpler times.

RESULT OF THE TEST ( Scenario Prediction based on my understanding of people and the game, both of which can be grossly incorrect as well)

1. The same people will still play the RCE with the hope to win. And ofcourse complain when loot is bad.
2. Will be empty after an initial tryout by 10-20% of the population who will then realise that the RCE is why people are playing EU else there are plenty other games to play.

Play which ever suits you...it can be done I'm aure...as they still have the old source code just need to load it up on to separate servers make some amendments and presto.
It can be done for sure but who will pay for this destined to fail experiment. If you are so sure and are willing to risk, take a proposal to MA with people who are ready to fund this experiment. I am sure MA will work out the details and all would be solved.

The only thing that can prevent it from happening is the money greed which ma has alot of...it even worries the devil himself... these people are something else if I must say...and not the desire of fun and stability and a place and name in the gaming world.
I would say the only thing preventing is the greed of the playerbase who wants the possibility to win without understanding the risks involved in a closed loot rce game. There is a reason noone else besides MA have actually run an RCE successfully and that simple reason is that this is probably the least profitable type of game with the maximum headache involved.

Its really easy to diss on others work and I can bet my house on the fact that noone here has it in them to make a game even 10% of what EU currently is. Period. If you disagree lets make that wager.

I'd honestly play EU without RCE. Make it a subscription-based, I don't care. There are so many things in EU I want to try, but cannot due to lack of $$$.

This :wise:

Don't know why people want to remove RCE part of EU lately..
Yes my loot sux too..
Then RCE is truly a curse. When MA knows that people only play there due to RCE, there's no incentive to make the game as good as MMOs nowadays. The "new" mission system is laughable compared to other MMOs'. MA can just throw some events here and there, and the fanbois will eat it up

Heck, even the webshop (the fucking easiest part of the game to expand) sells the same fucking things each year

Would be fun to hop back in time briefly, I wonder if a sort of time portal within the game would be possible. Rather than 2 separate entities. Could be a great story, a portal has opened in space, ripping time to shreds, entering the portal will transport you back to how the universe was x years ago.

About old PE, why not.
Nostalgia is inescapable as we getting older.. :wise:

But about the few people that would like EU not to be a RCE anymore.
I don't get your logic guys..

There is on the market probably thousands games that are not RCE, and about 1 that is a RCE.
Why in the world are you playing the only one that is a RCE if you want a subscription based game ? :scratch2:

You don't like the RCE part ?
Don't play the only 1 that is RCE and go try few of the thousands others.. Simple as that.

even 200% is fine, really. No real money involved aside from your subscription fee anyway

if you can find me a game that really looks like EU without the RCE with better gameplay, I'd jump in a heartbeat

There's almost no sci-fi MMO out there with traditional RPG mechanics and avatar customization. Most of them revolves only around space battles where you spend your whole game time inside a spaceship.

you serious?

Indeed, you wont find many games that looks like entropia.
Most of the games indeed dont look so crappy.

Also you like the entropia gameplay?
What gameplay?
You mean autofire endless herds of respawning mobs?

EVERY other game out there will outshine entropia in ALL aspects.
Except the RCE part.
The only part that makes entropia special.
Take that away and it will be gone in no time.

I said with better gameplay.

Damn so I am the only one who likes the complexity of the game (without the RCE)? I guess it's true that most people here are in it for the money. Sad times

First of all, yes, money rules the world, sorry if you just found out.
I find it sad too, but that's how it is, you won't change the world and neither will I... :dunno:

But if it's true, in my opinion, that most people come to try EU for the RCE part, it is far from being the only aspect for which they stay and keep playing afterwards.

If people were only interested in the gambling side, then they would rather play poker, bet, play casino, etc...

There are many interesting aspects in EU, including as you say, the complexity of the game, or the maturity of the community, and many others...

But it must be understood that these aspects are directly related to the fact that it is a RCE.

The main reason why EU is complex and not easy to play, is precisely that it's an RCE.

You know, if MA offers a choice to scrap all the graphics and fancy stuff from EU and make it a text-based MMO in return for higher loots, I'm pretty much sure most of the players will want it.

I guarantee you lot that loading up an ancient version of the game won't be nostalgic, but more like uuuuugggghhh! It'll be so ugly that you'll be thankful for the progress that has been made technologically.

I remember loading up project entropia for the first time circa 2004 and being shocked at how shit it was. I was playing Half Life 2 around that time iirc. Night and day. :)

... still didn't stop me playing

I am partially with you on this one. Not all but a good portion would remain. I personally don't think I would though. The ones remaining would be 100x more then the ones who would remain if the RCE is gone :-D

Could not have said it better myself

I will concur with you. I don't see what the fascination people have with loading up ancient version of the game. I am a 2010 debutante to the game and there is no way in hell that I would want to go back to that version of the game. From a beginners perspective, the game now is so much better (hearsay based on newbie stories) now that I can't imagine anyone wanting to go back in time to relive the game from that period.

The one and only thing that i do feel was better back then was the absence of vehicles which lead to some awesome trips and gave a nice bonding experience to newbies and veterans alike. That is probably the only aspect of EU that i feel got stripped off with the introduction of vehicles and lead to less cooperative and more self reliant model of EU.

Also, I have not been around during the period of "Marco" but in my 9+ years of experience for the first time i feel the team @ HQ is working on a job with dedication rather then a hobby. That alone is important enough for me to not want to go back to an earlier period.

Marco without quotes. He's a real person, was also in charge with the (awful) community communication. He's now with Paradox, worked in the Imperator: Rome.

That being said, if you started in 2010, you're already out of touch with the respective thing. Technically the current game is better. Looks is subjective, the old one looked dated but has personality, current one is not distinguishable from other Cry iterations.

However as gameplay there are so many points incident, that is hard to make a call. We had no missions back then, but everybody was playing. If you take out missions now, what would motivate a good part of the playerbase? Progression was more obvious then, evade meant something, with all mobs hitting faster and always for max dmg and decay being very expensive. Double-edged swords everywhere.

No, you dont get it.

You like entropia. Fair enough.
But you can't say you like entropia without the RCE.
Because without the RCE, there would not be an entropia.

Yes, the complexity is nice.
But it's this complex DUE TO the RCE part.
Otherwise it would just be a point and click game.
Good luck, keeping that up for 15 years.

The RCE part is the glue that keeps everything together.
It's the main ingredient of the game!

The lack of storylines, purpose, etc is compensated by the RCE part.

Entropia = RCE = Unique.

I would love Entropia without the RCE party, because the RCE part is not just Entropia Universe. :wise:

Entropia Universe has a lot more to offer: boring hunting, boring construction items that nobody needs, boring space, boring quests that not even make sense, boring weapons that costs a lot of money and dont forget the content that not even get finish, like boring housing, dead shops, dead planets, dead space stations, dead compet fight pet aktion and and and...

But if i think.....hmm you right Entropia is really the RCE part, nobody woud play something like this without the gambling part and the chance to win money. Your really right wizz :):wise:
