strange stones mission

I got the mission and the waypoint added to map, but when I go there nothing is happening.
Am I missing something here or is mission just not working

The three stones mission requires you to collect samples from 3 "Mysterious" stones. Just double-click on the stone when you find it to collect the sample or right-click and choose "Operate". Return to the NPC you got the mission from to collect the reward.

the mission I was refering to the one from tommy collins " Investigate the giant stone circle "
I cant interact with the stones in any way

All I did was teleport right into the middle of the stones and with in 2 seconds the mission updated automaticly. Then I proceeded to die with grace. It took me two attempts to do this but it did update automaticly.
