Hello all, i did start a thread telling all that i was wanting to start out crafting, but it whent nowhere, and besides, i was too eager, so im starting a new thread:

can any crafter give me an explenation as to what crafting "tools" and "equipment" does for me please - i know what you get when you craft weapons, but not these:

also, i do not want to skill up by buying resources, and shoving them in the machine, pressing the button and hoping - i wish to buy the skills. now, what are the general skills i need to be able to have a 50% chance in crafting somethind (lvl 1(ish)).

if my perspective of crafting mechanics are wrong, please correct me.

I'll tell you for 1000 peds.

First of all I would put this PECalc goy on your ignore list.

So back to your question.

Crafting tools is crafting items like ore finder, refiner or a fap.

Attachments (equipment) are things you can add to your weapon etc. to improve it for example "E-amp 13".

Skills you need to have a decent COS are (only the one i'm sure):
- Engeneering
- Under construction in the desired category (for example lwt if you want to craft laser weapons)

for more wait for real crafters to answer or make a search on this forum.

Okay, first decide what you want to craft.
If you'll only do Level 1 you don't really have to decide, since 1 full engineering chip would give you a decent CoS on all Level 1 BP's.
But in the end you'll get bored doing this low-end stuff, so pick a category (doing all categories will get VERY expensive!).

Say you picked weapons:
- Buy 2 full engineering implants (~2.5k ped each)
- In order to unlock BPC, buy 1 full Manufacture Mechanical implant (~1k ped)
- After the BPC unlock, buy 1 full BPC implant (~3k)

That's the basic skills you need, you now have ~2.4k engineering, ~1.8k BPC and ~1.8k manufacture mechanical equip.
In order to get a decent CoS on level 2 and higher BP's you need to chip the skills for that specific region (fe. Manufacture Weapons, Manufacture Tools, etc.) and also the right Technology skills (fe. Weapons Technology, Tools Technology).

A full Weapon Technology implant costs ~7k ped, a full Manufacture Weapons implant ~6k ped and both are hard to get.
Same goes for tools, armor, attachments, just with different prices (not cheaper).
After you have chipped these your CoS will rise pretty good for Level 2-4 BPs (i don't know HOW good, cause i never got this far).

Good luck becoming a crafter! :D

you will never have 50%.
max is 42% +/-3%

as for skill , engineering and bpc for general , plus , skill of your specialisation.
still buying skill dont give you the atribute , and nowaday , atribute is a big part of the things.

Etopia is right about the CoS, that would be 42% max.
I also calculated the RoI (return of investment), it's quit instable, but around 75-85% ...

cheers guys

ok so basically ur sayin i have to sell my soul to become an instant crafter, ok, fair enough, its still cheaper IMO. im just gonna have to wait a while, do dont wanna put that kind of money into PE (yet ;) ) - all in due time (unless i uber HoF   )

i recon im gonna craft armour, all these people sayin how rare crafted armour is - i recon this is the best for selling high - obviously im gonna look into wether the armours i can craft would be worth crafting - if there are enough, im in - if not, back to square one.

this 42 +/- 3% business - so that progress bar - when its at max, thats 42%??? why? why can i neve become so good at crafting, i have like 70% chance of vrafting anything?

cheers for the help, + reps all round

ask to MA :)
but i guess MA need to make money.
and 42%+/-3% is real COS , we speak here about crafted item , the TT you guet back can be more than 100%

First of all Ouch BruuD! i guess thats why you left crafting :p

secondly, instead of buying the skills, you could go into a different region of crafting and skill craft on mechanical equipment, it takes ages (months & months) but you get those skills (engineering and BPC) cheaper than buying the chips.

Once you have got those skills, then you can move into crafting weapons and equipment.

Darky.

are you sure? can you give me some numbers? cos to me it may look like a small amount if you do it in small sessions, but if u add em up im guessin it would be more expensive. i think this because buying the chips you learn the skills 100% no problem, but if you skill by crafting, (espesially at the beginning) you hardly ever succeed, so you lose money there, and also, you may or may not gain skills- that is, you may not gain skills every time you click (im guessing it doesnt matter if you dont succeed, you still get the skills, like in hunting if you miss you still may get hunting skills like aim etc.)

as for skill , engineering and bpc for general , plus , skill of your specialisation.

i forgot to ask about this in my last post. are you sure you dont gain attributes when you chip skill? because you sure as hell lose them when you put skills ONTO the chip. can anyone confirm this?

attributes meaning strength, intelligence and agility. Only hitpoints is skill related.
