Seems that as part of the taming mystery MA has made several skills that do not have a clear tie contribute to taming. Some make sense, some don't.

A number of the generals do, but that was obvious for a while since they skill up when taming.

Unexpextedly, whip has quite a large percent (and yes I am still looking for it, those of you who are curious at what level 6 pets open or if there are any hidden taming skills - this is your best to find out, sell me some whip:).

Combat sense has a weird contribution only to animal tamer, no effect on animal handler.

And as I understand scientist does as well, don’t have that yet (hoping to unlock through taming actually). Can someone who has that unlock let us know how much of effect this skill has.

Surprisingly, xenobiology has no effect whatsoever, although it would make sense that it actually would...

Anyone else notice any peripheral skills that contribute to taming?

I chiped some whip lately..and found it only to inflict on my Taming proffession...

Now this is interesting! So using a whip actually DOES contribute to the Animal Tamer profession!

Back in December 2006 there was a thread about this assumption. We didn't know for sure then, but now we know! Thanks for sharing Miggobar!

I think Animal Tamer is more related to whip skills...
Not really no, pet handler and animal tamer are the professions, have nothing to do with whip skills as far as I can tell.

Animal Taming + Whip = Main influence to "Animal Tamer" profession.

It was why some people could do daiki stalkers as soon as taming was possible - they already have 2+ k in whip and decent general skills.
