The thrill of a global and hof deminished?

It's interesting what you are saying but in the same time useless, why?

Because you can get a HOF with 50 ped also, so that will hurt even bandly than a 50 ped global

That ideea of your that you could set the amount needed for the swirlies to come up is nice, that I agree, I personally would set a hof value of at least 1000:)

Its because its rambling :D

99% of time I you FPS so I don't care relay. But a hof below 1000 ped is boring in my opinion so that choice I would welcome :)

The auto-return to 1st person after pulling back to see the swirlies is great.

3rd person players should have the same thing - auto-return the camera to it's previous position (or is that what it used to do - I can't recall).

Optional is good, too.

What we need is a way to adjust zoom besides just the mouse wheel.
I play on a laptop w/out a mouse alot of the time and its frustrating not being able to set zoom. (before or after globals)
(I haven't been hunting much and just mining in 3rd person so not sure about the zoom out and in)

Not what I hoped to hear personally, but thanks for the reply Kim :D

For the globals i understand that the zoom in/out could be annoying sometimes. But for hofs would be nice to keep the zoom in/out.

Just my opinion.

One day I hope I get so many globals that I'd be annoyed by it.

I like the new system better, I hunt in first person most of the time and its more fun now since i don't have to zoom back in after a global.

You should stop listening to some people and start listening to most people.

And study psychology, that zooming is part of the pavlovian effect.

The what goes where o_O?

whats next? remove the global sound because some ppl think its annoying?
this change has affected my game experience
pls give us back zoomimg

Place an option in the settings to enable or disable the zoom effect after getting a global. Taking this out of the game without asking or polling the community was a poor choice made by someone who probably doesn't play the game. I've asked around those on my friendslist and it seems unanimous with those I know that they miss the zoom effect.

Globals feel flat now. Like drinking soda without carbonation.

Please add a check box to be clicked allowing the user to enable/disable the zoom effect. Don't just take something like this out of the game and then say it was because a few people didn't like it--When I know a LOT of people miss it and didn't find it annoying whatsoever.

You have my vote to add this feature back into the game, and I will sign a petition to add it back to the game if needs be :)

I feel as though this was a critical part of the excitement that goes hand in hand with getting a global or a HOF.

and i bet most people loved it,i know i do....and i do global a lot each day,now i dont get that "thrill" anymore

This was an intended change, some people found it annoying to have the camera zoom out.

For the record - I find no looters and/or nova in my loot window annoying.

I bet I can find more people willing to say that is annoying - Will that be removed too?

maybe we should write supportcase of what we love instead of what we dont so that they don't get removed

Adding my tuppence worth to this discussion...

I liked the zoom-in on global.

I generally play in third person at full pan so the swirly and fanfare are barely perceptible now.

Grinding 5000 atrox is dull enough. The momentary break caused by the zoom and the loud fanfare felt like an additional intangible reward, aside from the loot amount.

I suspect this is cynical economics from MA. Time spent by players enjoying the glory, then re-panning and starting shooting again, is time not spent burning ammo. It all adds up over thousands of globals per day.

Then weasel words "some people found it annoying" to justify the change!

How many people? Which people? What is "annoyance"? Where is this vast body of disgruntled players threatening to leave the game unless the global zooming was removed?

Meh.. it's an insult to our intelligence.

MA has shown, time and again over the years, that they will cater to the top ... let's say 2%. (Just a number I pulled out of the air, could be 5%, 10%)

Who do you think sees those zooms the most? The top 2%.

Who has the pull to complain about something and actually get it changed? The top 2%.

NOTE: I could be completely wrong here... but I know how some service based companies work. Anyone who thinks service based companies does NOT cater to the top 2% of their customers (even by changing a product or creating a new one)... well, then you've never worked for one that has done it.... I have. One could even argue that by loyalty and the amount of money spent through a company, they've earned that type of recognition and pull.

I'll say this again, I could be completely wrong here. I'm not trying to start a conspiracy tangent to the thread or attack anyone in particular. I'm not attacking anyone at all actually... I'm simply pointing out how, completely truthfully, Kim could be telling 100% of the truth that "some" people complained. Some, can be a very small number depending on your perception, and if those "some" were the folks that MA actually listens to.....

My goal is to become part of the top 2% anyway, just to see :D

The truth dear friend, not at all surprise me if your hypothesis could be correct, change after change I've been noticing small details in the game trying to increase spending or decay. I do not know if others have noticed, but I did in many things, such as jumps using chips (with unuseful delays that was not existed in old versions), or as silly mobs turning around you while you are shooting them, or as mobs very far from your radar but coming to attack you, when you are killing a mob (before was very less), or as mob respawning inmediately killed but very close to you, or wave events; and now as you had noted in this little detail.

Maybe this is not a bug, and there is an internal competition inside MA to implement all suggestions directed to get more decay or something more spending on everything we do.

Very quick post to say, I really hope that the demise of the zooming in and out thing when you get a global or hof is just a bug.

I have no idea what you're talking about.

So probably the best solution (assuming that the code which handles the zoom was simply commented out, and not deleted), would be to encase that code segment (hopefully a method call) around a boolean to determine if a toggle is set in the options, and give people the simple option of On, or Off. That would be fastest and easiest.

More processing time intensive, but also more encompassing of more user preferences, would be to add in a "zoom limit" to indicate that the zoom should only happen if the event is greater than a given number of PEDs, which could be set also in the Options panel.

It's fairly simple If/Then logic, and it would have the most positive impact on the largest number of players, hopefully giving everyone the option they want.

Just my :twocents:

SOME? so, SOME is more important than MOST? ... Kim please, really i would like to say "thanks for answer us" but I can not. Because an answer like yours do not deserve thats, In what kind of game must to be converted Entropia Universe, a game like an slot machine from a Casino only for Ubers? Or a game for everybody. Watching yellows lights from a Global or Hof, maybe is the only satisfaction for losing peds, for the great mayority of players (*), People who have not a lot of virtual peds like SOME Ubers, but who deposited month by month, REAL USD to the game (Real Flow Cash)....

Why you need to do this? Please, go back to the table of designers and return to us that beautifull characteristic from game, present in Entropia Universe from beginnings.

(*) In support of this, both Ubers as newbies have posted for years their pictures here showing us the beautifull yellow cloud, for everybody to do the ritual of Congratulations (GRATZ .!. BIG GRATZ.!... HOLY SH* GRATZ..! ETC) ... If that is not necessary, only we need to see their names in Tracker, and send them a good and telepathic thought would be enough ...

god if anyone wants to see swirlys then just hunt hin over the shoulder perspective :rolleyes:

Kim could be telling 100% of the truth that "some" people complained. Some, can be a very small number ...

"Some" could actually be just two. And who are these "people"? Are they players or MA accountants?

That is precisely the weasel words and is therefore no justification at all, even if at first glance an unintelligent reader will allow himself to be fobbed off by it.

I am not a fool and I take a dim view of anyone who attempts to treat me as one.

I was not particularly upset by this change until I saw Kim's comment. This "Mindark Official" is clearly in need of a refresher course in diplomacy.

Problem in different perception. I will try to look objectively now:

1. MA is 60-70 person company now, correct? What percent from it is support, QA, programmers, financials, etc? But already it's clearly seen: small. Thousands players vs 70.
2. How many people is on forums from game? Small. Most people just playing.

Somehow, that part of small forum people thinks, that if they whine on forums, some small MA-forces will react on it.
MA reacting on centralized support-ticket system. You can write all stuff which you want, where you want - but MA will pay attention to that support system.
No one capable to browse thru forums and separate whining shit from real problems, it's impossible.
They even did support system ingame.

How many of you, instead of whining here - wrote support tickets? Those who did - MA reacted, and did changes about zooming. How they did it - it's another question.
Because of fucking tango exploiters, and those, who writes support cases - MA "fixed" reload of anything, before you can enter in VTOL now.

That yours "swirlies-zooming" problem? Haha, that reload "fix" completely killed my (and not only my) mining action, most fun of it. I adjusted and adapted to it anyway, I not losing time or profit. I just have more chances to falling asleep. And funny thing, I burning now twice less fuel than before.

I just want to say - want change something? Write support cases.
You can say anything, whine how much you depositing, and how MA suffer from it, cuz you can depo much more if you will be happy (what an excellent piece of bullshit, haha!), also how MA will suffer when you will take away your 20k of bucks, oh, yes - sky is falling from now on. Most fun part of whine of that kind - you are even not seen on a scale of 100% depositors.

Just write support cases, put your opinions in central system, don't force (you simply can't) MA to search forums. Another huge mistake - when you want some dialogue with MA. If MA will start dialogue - who will work on game improvement? You?

Feel free to neg-rep me, or what you can do else.

This would be something for which it would be good to have in game voting booths (again). :wise:

So..... you're whining about people whining?

Also.. that's kind of a funny post, considering there IS a response from MA in the thread, and we're in the "Dev's Corner" section.

Also, for those of us that have been around a while, we know from history that discussions on these very forums HAVE led to (or contributed to the consideration of) changes in Entropia.

I'll see what I can do about bringing this back as an optional feature.

Yes, agree. - But this action worry me more than bother me. (smart people knows why)

Objectively? LOL. :D (Obviously you have failed in your try.)

How many of you, instead of whining here - wrote support tickets? Those who did - MA reacted, and did changes about zooming. How they did it - it's another question.

Have you belong to Support Team? can you show numbers about this hypothetical "support cases"? (<- To be objectively you needs show this)

Really I think people usually writes support cases about other problems (Technical Problems /Abuse / etc)... Frankly, To think that SOME people will writte support cases like this: "Please mindark, i do not wish see my own globals" Thats sounds really ridiculous.. And is more ridiculous to think people writes something like this: "Please Mindark in future never will change zooming of globals"----LOL (Objectively? LOL)

I just want to say - want change something? Write support cases.

Again, Are you belong to Support Team, can you show numbers about this hypothetical "support cases"? Do you know the mechanics of working in such cases?

Feel free to neg-rep me, or what you can do else.

It is not necesary, the best neg-rep or pos+rep are your ideas put in black and white here..
