PLANET CALYPSO CONTENT RELEASE 2010.6
2010-11-09

***PLEASE READ THIS DOCUMENT IF YOU FIND SOMETHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY IN PLANET CALYPSO! IT MIGHT PROVIDE THE INFO YOU NEED BEFORE CONTACTING THE SUPPORT DEPARTMENT!***

RESETTLEMENT UPDATE

Recent attacks by Steelbirds, the new flying robot model, proved only to be the beginning. We can now reveal that the robots in utmost secrecy have refitted and retooled the wreckage of the War Titan Typhon that crashed into Hadesheim six years ago into a base for their operations.

Satellite surveillance was blanked momentarily by electro-magnetic pulses from Hadesheim, and as they came back online, infrared photography revealed new structures under the cloud cover of the crater. Some of them were active, launching objects in suborbital mid-range trajectories on Eudoria.

Colonel Briers in Port Atlantis has confirmed that CDF and CFA will cooperate to take the fight to the Steelbirds. He also hinted that CDF is developing a strategy to investigate the crater and the mysterious drops over Eudoria, but as they are unfinished, CDF does not want to reveal them at the moment.

NEW FEATURES

Hadesheim crater redesigned: We’ve redesigned the Hadesheim crater for the event. You will experience an entirely new crater, including Camp Phoenix and the outpost north of the crater. Most of the story related missions are centered around the crater.

New missions: We have 17 new missions for this release, among them a seasonal Iron Challenge, a permanent Iron Challenge, a mining challenge and some missions related to the story of the Harbinger event.

All missions will not be available at once. At first there will only be the Iron Challenges. A set of story related missions will open on November 11th, and a few more that concludes the event will open on November 23rd. Some missions (but not all) will close on November 30th as the event closes. If a mission is limited to certain dates, it will be stated clearly in the mission’s description.

Colonel Briers in the needle tower in Port Atlantis is the contact for the Steelbird Iron Challenge and the story missions. Todd Hamlish in Camp Phoenix will hand out the mining challenge, and Fritz Feldgast at Cape Corinth will hand out the Eviscerator Iron Challenge.

Shared loot: We have a new feature that allows us to share loot from event mobs. The feature, if activated, splits loot among everyone that inflicted damage on the mob similarly to the rule “Damage: Stack share”. Team loot rules are ignored for these mobs.

We have activated shared loot on Steel Bird Elite spawns for this event.

FIXED ISSUES

  • Fixed a few terrain issues.
  • Fixed floor numbering of the televator in Port Atlantis Mall
  • Natural creature spawn issues fixed.

Will we still have complaints from noobs that they cant participate in this kind of events???

Now im just wondering on how big a force that is neede to take down that bird :)

lol of course, somone whines about everything on this forum

A workaround is to just do a single click on the mob - then you have it as you use to have. And yes i know this is only a workaround until they fix this bug.

So stop complaining and find a workaround and share the information.

lol - next thing is complaning of not to get the killshoot with the opalo so they can have the kill on there own mission :)

Guess the workaround is to hier someone to hunt and only do the killshot :wise:

We ignored it, because it's code and platform and hence something that only MindArk can do anything about. If MindArk fix it, it should be mentioned in the Platform Release Notes.

Maybe you shouldn't ignore it, rather bug MA incessantly, as many people are frustrated with this bug and some just refuse to hunt.

I think you need to give more information about this, from what I read here we could have a group of ubers taking down an elite mob with the best gear ingame and a noob shoots it a few times with opalo and gets a share of loot.

Now, this may sound fine but look at this possible outcome:

Team 'ubers' killed a Steel Bird Elite and gained loot worth 571ped

Jenna Star Mecury recieved 10 brain oil worth 190ped
Lindan the Chosen Avery recieved 10 brain oil worth 190ped
Neo the Famous Trader Sharp recieved 10 brain oil worth 190ped
unknown noob recieved Supremacy Harness(M) worth 1ped
Sounds like a load of BS to me.

I know the workaround, but complaining in the hope they start to take these bugs serious.

As next year they will start to PR this game, but with these bugs around, those can create bad rep for
the game. So they might actually damage the games reputation, and that will be harder to correct.
And this bug is hard to miss. I do not complain because I hate the game, lol I would just leave then.
But because I want them to do thier best and make an 1000% efford to get things done right.

Unless I missed and update, sadly, this hasn't been fixed, still the same ingame.
I think it's account related and not something in the engine, as my daughter does not have this bug.
However I do, and tested this one both our systems, on both I have the bug, she doesn't.

It´s a good thought though...
During events like these there´s alot of players not getting anything but help alot. I know i have wasted a shitload of ammo before but not got any loot because someone else did more dmg...

Oil is good :)

Yep, that's the first thing I thought of when I saw that.

I have the bug too and it is annoying especially when you hunt with max speed.

The bug was gone for some time for me - but now i have it back. Havnt found out yet how to put the bug On/Off :(

it sucks that you ignored it but the fact you admitted you ignored it means something to me.

Why? Whoever ends up buying it would probably be able to haggle a lower price from the n00bster than from any of those others. :D

Seriously though, once you factor in the trick that some missions can only be unlocked after completing the initial missions, then I'd say MA/FPC just came up with a BRILLIANT way of getting tons of ubers to all kill the next ultra-big, nasty "mission mob" and keep everyone happy regarding loot.

Think about it.....

(I'm just hoping this is how FPC is actually doing it.)

Shared loot is fine if everyone recieves the same type of loot (although a bit boring) but when you have low tt items with +10k markup, esi worth 550%, components worth 3500% etc then it's totaly insane to give shared loot.

Players with no armour and tt weapons can shoot until something kills them then sit at revive waiting for the swirlies and maybe a jackpot loot for doing a virtualy insignificant amount of damage on the mob.

Yeah, you got a point.. It all depends on if it´s normal loot or special event loot.
Maybe its all stackables loot...

One thing that realy anoyed the crap out of me with the last event is Uber socs coming along thinking they own every single mob. More then 70% of all mobs I started shooting at first was kill stealed by some of the highest ranked socs ingame. When complaining that I started shooting it first and that it was standing at me 100M away from them already arround 75% HP I just got snotty replies that I must do more damage to it to claim it. I meen WTF who do they think they are saying I must out damage thier team to claim the mob I started shooting at first. It also seemed that after complaining they went out of their way to ensure I can not get a single loot.

This shared loot BS is worse than I though.

I just seen Star global on an elite solo. So he can be out there hunting and anyone can just run up and start shooting the mob he is killing to get some of the loot.

@fopsie, yes that's a problem but creating another problem to fix a current problem isn't the way to go. It doesn't even fix your problem properly anway.

Exactly - the new Loot Rule only works if all the loot is stackables.

Perhaps MA forgot to say this.

Maybe you shouldn't ignore it, rather bug MA incessantly, as many people are frustrated with this bug and some just refuse to hunt.

Better clarify that one: we ignored it in context of the release notes. FPCs release notes only contain things that we at FPC have been working at.

Maybe Hanne (or Pioneer etc) can clarify this for us, all loot on elite event mobs or just stackables?

The rule seems clearly an attempt to make this event 'different', to address the years of complaints that only ubers can kill event mobs and/or ubers get all the good event loot etc. It is also addressing all the complaints of ksing during events as well, by effectively making that somewhat 'legal' on elite event mobs. Sort of understand the idea but can see the flood of complaints anyway, especially if the 'shared loot' is all loot and not just stackables (ie 'uber' items).

(watch out Star I got my opalo, all your itamz belong to me )

Auto hunt team seems to work - but no one registers any kills on Steelbird elites for Missions in or out of team?!! Bugged?

I share the point from Slither... was thinking on the same, but i hope there is an use for that force thing added last VU so loot will be splited betwen those that are in the force and infilcted the most dmg... adn split betwen them.... or do i get it wrong ... any1 who shots get something?

From a cK team this morning - in team and then seperately - Looks like anyone who shoots gets something - except for kill recognition for Missions (in or out :()..
