Question: Do we really need proof of each little success story?

This is in direct relation to a recent "I profited" thread. Almost immediately, the OP was up against posts requesting proof, screenshots of withdrawals, etc. I'm quite sure bank account receipts were next on the list of demands. And I for one can't understand it at all. :scratch2:

So that I wouldn't take the other thread off-topic, I'm asking here: When someone says they succeeded (defined as profited for this case) in this game, why is it some folks feel the desire to find any little nugget of doubt?

If he succeeded, great for him. If not, only they and their bank account know.

But in either case, it doesn't affect me personally, nor anyone else that I can see. If you're unable to profit in this game, it's not due to some random person's success.

Hopefully most of us understand only a very few can truly make long term profit in this game. That's the way it's supposed to be. MA is a for-profit private business, not some bizarre online charity where every bloke w/ a ped card is supposed to get their bills paid.

But yeah, why is it when someone says "I profited" some others feel compelled to prove them wrong? :confused:
 
I don't see the reason why anybody would lie about their profits...
 
Well, I guess in alot of cases it's because they lack a similar experience. This makes it hard for them to believe it and gives rise to envy.

Like that time someone blew a fuse in a ATH thread about not getting anything nice himself despite valuable efforts. :dunce: We all know how it feels when the guys next to you hofs, but you don't start ranting about it in the ATH thread.
 
In the instance you link, when someone who has been a forum member for almost 6 years but with less than 3 posts a year posts, it is fair for people to check he or she isn't a stooge / alt / employee.

I think the poster is perfectly legit. I also think it is fair to quiz them to check for veracity and for hints and tips. ;)

Well that I understand perfectly. It's simply an attempt to get accolades. The fact they didn't profit a dime and lied through their teeth seems to mean nothing to them.

But even considering those cases, I see no reason to tear at every single success story to prove them all wrong. Now lies in an attempt to avoid punishment for, say, stealing, that I am happy to pursue, because the reward for finding the truth means the possible punishment of a criminal, either by law, or public ridicule, hopefully both.

But poo-pooing a thread where someone claims profit? Way too much effort. No benefit to me at all.

couple years ago i posted that i profited around 400k ped hunting with an 1 time depo only of 2000 ped
some people did not believe me,so i posted screenys of all my withdrawls,screeny of storagelist of 85k ped tt and screenys of empty deposits

they didnt apoligize for calling me an liar,they just didnt react anymore,most people that react that way when some1 say they profit in this game are simply not able to do it them selfs so they reason that if they cannot do it no1 can

It's very simple...
1. I think people started to lose faith...on the system/MA

2. And the way the poster presented his info! His account is not new, but he was not active in the forum! Since 2006 he has a total of 15 posts. On tracker he has only 154k crafting globals loot and nothing in hunting or mining.

3 His 320k peds for 320 CLD unlikely from crafting profits!

4. Also the timing of the thread.... when most are losing peds, and CLD sales are going down!

Putting all these together it sounds really fishy.

As for the evidence, I dont' think he needs to prove anything here.
If it's true he simply can laugh at us! and have more fun!

Finally, assuming he is telling the truth, then a plausible explanation for his motivation to post his success story (ingame since 2006) now is reflected in these 2 posts:

Also, after going through his forum posts (15 in total since 2006) i was surprised by his interest on things.... those are not particularly linked to a crafter... and that's making me more paranoid!

I would say that people chime in wanting proof for many different reasons.

1) they had the opposite experience (ever only lost a lot of peds)
2) they want to warn new players that it is not be as easy as OP made it sound
3) they do not know the player personally and assume that anyone who has profited that much should be a famous player
4) they want the OP to reveal his secrets
5) some people are simply skeptical by nature and want more info before they'll believe anything, especially if it goes against "common knowledge"... "screenshots or it didn't happen"

and many others, I'm sure.

1) So why did you loose faith? I did not. Otherwise I just would withdraw my money. Why don't you just withdraw your money if you already lost faith?

2) Because the tracker don't exists long enough. Anyway As I wrote the profit was coming from crafting not from mining nor hunting. You can make profits there as well, but I didn't played long enough in those professions to be in a position to proof anything.

3) How do you know that? Are you a mentalist? :laugh:

4) At all time most people are loosing peds, because they just want to do the things that are fun and don't want to think about making money. Keep in mind that this is just a game. They play it for fun. ... And of course "CLD sales are going down", because people already bought their CLDs with the money they had available. Now they would have to deposit, makeing new profits or waiting for the incoming of their CLDs to reinvest. This is a much slower process.

Now than, I dont know about you or others John, but people having doubts in someone who has 16 posts in 6 years of history on pcf, coming here with a "farytale" how theyve profited xxx peds, without themselves shoving proof is completly inplace imo.

On other hand i do agree with you it is irellevant for you and me if its true or not.

For the master profiter, i doubt very much what you are claiming as many things dont speak in your favour, beside them 320 cld you got, which couldev been obtained in many diffrent ways.

Also to the master profiter, you have no tracker stats in hunting or mining, have you ever actualy tried it? Should i just take your word on it aswell, you can profit and all that...?

So yeah John, questioning such claims is absolutly inplace
 
It's just jealousy, natural feeling for humans:) and the need to justify the jealousy if it's true or not

I think some people won't believe anything no matter how much proof you give them, but I think most of us would like a little bit of proof. Especially since for every story of someone who made a lot there's 100 people who lost a lot.

Strictly on-topic answer:

Those "others" who failed to "profit", have self-excuse - "I did all what I can, there is impossible to do that. It's a casino, all random, MA hate me".
And they living with that "mantra" perfectly, smoothly whining on forums, but still have "hope" to "hit jackpot". It's their "area of comfort".

Until someone will not appear and show that it's possible to "profit". Then there such state triggered: "I am wrong or he just lie." As I said before - they already in "area of comfort", they will NOT do a shit to move on, since it's doesn't needed. They just CAN'T be wrong.

That means - "he just lie". But "others" must defend their "area of comfort", and thus, "others" must "proove" (for themself!) that "he just lie". "Others" starting asking for "proofs".

When "proofs" appeared - it's even more dangerous for their "area", so - MORE proofs needed. It's never ending story.

More on topic: there are quite a few people profiting, living w/o depositing, never deposited etc. You just don't hear much from them bragging about it. Not everyone can profit, yes, that's true. So it's what you make of it and how smart/dumb you are.

I believe it comes from so many people distrusting Mindark.

The atmosphere permeates every aspect of the game now, which translates to the forums as well.

As far as making money in EU goes, I'm sure if you treat it as a job and don't do it for just for fun, it's very possible.

Globals don't mean shit if you craft items that you can sell for profit.

No 'proof' anyone can present on the internet will ever prove anything.

Not, really.... I know some players ingame who become very jealous when a new player get uber HOF...But I know I dont' have that! It could be from the fact that I myself got Uber HOF as a noob

182,772 peds in globals...


0 mining globals
0 hunting globals..

but the thing i find most impressive... is that your luck index... a thing that compares all your globals to the average global size for the item you crafted is -27k peds..

for example...
player X has 10 globals on atrox for 600 peds... (60 peds average global size)
but the average global size over the history of the game is 100 peds... you luck index is -400 peds...

thus this shows that you could be in for a nice HOF if you still crafted...

based on your tracker stats your numbers dont add up...

but i DO think it is possible to make large amounts of monies in this game if you play it right... and know what your doing

but as i said, in this and other threads... i'm a bit skeptic in nature. When things dont' add up... and linked secrecy, and broken promises.... it's reasonable to become a bit suspicios or paranoid.
Unfortunately, MA has made a lot of players very suspicios about their activities.
So, what you see here is MA's own making.... and Only MA can solve it.... nothing else will do!

I agree with you here, and most players who are making profit won't care to post....including him... never did until his other thread!

May I ask you, what is his motivation to post in the forum now about his success?

That person rely on tracker, thinking that hofs and globs is profit. Also he counting some mystical "turnovers" by it and other shit. He ALWAYS rely on tracker. Enough said.

I just dont' buy into things when you become fanboy of MA.
Having said that, I read your posts where you justify a feature or MA's action.. simply because they give me a logical explanation for other perspective...which I may or may not agree!

He bought 320 CLDs, now he wants to show people that profit is possible to get them to play more so he gets more revenue from those... he is a crafter and crafting materials are heavy? That is the logical explaination :coffee:

While clearly Infinity and I disagree on a few points about this subject, I must remind folks that I can not tolerate personal insults thrown at anyone. Debate the issues, fine. Great. Fantastic. But leave the name calling out please.
