GOTHENBURG, SWEDEN and FRANKFURT, GERMANY -- Entropia Universe, the safest virtual world utilizing a real cash economy, has signed a license agreement to use the stunning high-tech game engine CryENGINE 2®, from German developer Crytek, creators of "Far Cry®" and upcoming "Crysis®." note, this will be after the upcoming re-implementation of the graphics.

On the other hand crytek's engine is superb, if a little graphics card hungry, so EU+CryEngine will look fantastic. Good decision MA imo :)

good.. woohoo i got a excuse to buy a new computer.
bad.. o no i gotta buy a new computer.

Tbh upgrading graphics is a thing that was way due, hope it works out well :)

Sounds great!!! I'm excited!! Can't wait to see how everything looks:yay:

OMFG! Oh please, please dont say i gotta go buy a new comp AGAIN tho....

Ive read the game Crysis will require Vista.

However Marco has explicitly stated we wont need Vista (at least in the short term)

So I'm not cheering just yet - graphics look good though.

MA is suppossed to learn the proper use of GameBryo first of all imho...

lol you beat me too it, no point having the best engine avail if your using crappy models etc. BUT I do have some hope that MA are gonna prove me wrong in 9.0 :)

now considering i've upgraded my PC for cysis capability I can see ALOT of PCs not coping with this engine :)

cant wait to be able to dmg tree's I'll be 1st out there removing all the bushes and trees in the phasm LG ;)

Oh my F*** God ... This is amazing ...

Save for a new PC though... You will need some Fast graphics...

hehe maybe its just me but the CryEngine instantly made me think "cry more" lol

anyway apart from the name it looks pretty damn awsome, i just hope its a less abrasive implementation than the physX

so completion in mid 08, that would be very cool :) i just hope this isnt a "2 lg's per year" type statement

 Those are mighty impressive screenies!! Time to start planning my next hardware upgrade, methinks.

Rock on MA!

Edit: Oh! ...and : Sunrise! Sunset!! Sweet!

If THAT is how good Entropia will be i demand i'd be digitized and uploaded to Calypso Pronto!
I'm quitting my dayjob!
:jawdrop:

Its looking likly that Direct X 10 will be implemented for XP after all, so this wont be an issue for many years to come.

Have you got a source for that aridash? I'd like to see M$ having to backtrack.

so when can i drive a tank thru a biodome?

this could be very cool, if your bored download the farcry demo and take a look at the water - its pretty amazing.
Don't think this will require vista- the past farcry was DX9 . No word on the new one. the requirement for vista is only if a developer uses direct X10 i believe.
For some people a video card upgrade may be in order, and a little ram.

That could be some amazing news where did you hear that?

crysis will not require vista and will not required DX10

it will run fine in XP and DX9 just the additional DX10 features will be unavailable

:duh: Super Nice.... for the people who have cutting edge-graphics capability in their top of the line supercomputers. :nana:

The rest of us? :lam:

I for one am not in the position to go buy a several-thousand dollar new computer to play a game that sucks my money away in the first place... :broke:

Are you?
:dunno:

It's becoming more & more clear who their intended customer base is.

Well, from the screenshots anyway, it looks really really nice.

What's the video about ( I can't get it here at work)? Does it show any Calypso mobs with the new Graffix??

Would anyone be able to guess what the minimum requirements would be for this becuase I don't want to buy a new pc now and find its not good enough

you can still play in okish quality on crappy old hardware, i'm a member on ALOT of crysis forums and belive me its all been discussed before.

Doesn't need vista :). Ii's supposed to look much better with vista though.

Well if the implementation of the engine is done mid 2008 AND the textures and models are completly reworked then EU will change a lot. Crytek2 Engine is one of the best on the market atm. But you will need a good gfx card for sure...

i went OMGWTF? when i read it...seconds later i went oooooh crap...

gonna need to upgrade my pc again...

Only speculation at the moment, but the Inquirer is usually on the money with these things. Basically, in a nutshell, Nvidea can implement virtualised memory so MS are pulling that requirement of DX10. with this not part of the spec, theres no technical reason for MS not to release DX10 for XP.

other than that, Vista adoption is very poor and i think they'll be under pressure to back peddle in order to break the chicken/egg cycle: DX10 wont drive vista sales until there are alot of games, and there wont be lots of games until theres wide adoption of Vista.

Thats the CryEngine 1 two is gunna be much better, BUT argh the lagggg...

Ok thanks for that.

FarCry was one of my favourite FPS and I cant believe it came out 3 years ago.

A cautious welcome then for the new engine - looks fantastic. :wtg:
