Newbies wanna see oil rig

So I'm a newbie and I'd like to see the oil rig. So do others, I'm sure. My mentor says, and it is written all over the forum, it would be a waste of time and a waste of ammo/repairs etc etc to try.

the way I see it, there are two options, well maybe three...

1. Take 100s of other newbies, maybe one or two make it. It might take multiple tries for me to get there.
2. Bring a lot of people to scare everyone out there. But it would indeed cost a lot of ammo and repairs.
3. Friendly ask everyone who tries to keep us newbies away from there to leave the spot so I can take a look without trouble.

So here are my questions:
1. Are tere about 100 newbies signing up? (Ofcourse everyone can put on that orange suit and look like a newbie. It would work for me.)
2. Are there friendly people there to grant me permission to take a look at the oil rig?
3. Are there enough people to scare everyone away from there?
4. Any other ideas?
 
dont listen to people. Go for it. Just dont expect to actually get any oil. Round up some other newbs, maybe a guide or 2, tp to twin, and just run for it. dont bother with armour or weapons, you want be able to fight back. once your bored of dieing, go round the eatern edge and then north to get Nymphtown TP.

Its a laugh innit, wont cost anything for a couple hours entertainment.

..but I have to tell you... Im sure some will be very happy to see 100 newbies rushing into the rig - will make a nice spree for sure. :) :dunce: :girl:
 
best way is to ask verrry nicely to Noggin and pay for ME and get there in 20 sec WORMHOLE FOREVER

Its better to understand more the world on Entropia and also you can get some TP´s or outposts too. :laugh:
 
Foreman how nice of you to say that, I figured if I died, read was killed, somewhere close to the oil rig I would revive at nymph.... somthing. That would be one of the last tp's I need at that continent. :) Which would be nice too.
 
Indeed, just go for it. You have nothing to loose but time.

Bringing extra noobs as a diversion will not work. You will be exterminated like so many chirpy's.

Bringing in other uber's to aid you might work, but if you knew any, you wouldn't be fishing around here for ways to get to the Rig. You seem to be a bit obsessed by the Rig, I hope you won't be too disappointed once you finally do get there.

Don't be upset when you get killed over and over again, either by Atrox or ubers. Neither will even give you a reason, either.

Based on your comment, Ms. Monk, I believe you might be among those enjoying the killing spree! Nothing like a good bloodbath, I always say!

But I like the OP his comments, thoughts and suggestions. When I get down from CND, I might look for a newbie group to join up with in this endeavor.

I appreciate your reasoning for wanting to go, but:

1) 100 newbies? That's going to lag worse than trying to stream video on a 14.4k connection

2) Perhaps, best bet would be to encourage the people at the rig to tell you when they have just picked up a batch of oil. That leaves a 5-30 minute period where there's not going to be any oil to pick up, so they might be a bit more likely to let you come and have a look without shooting you.

3) A newbie in OJ without armour or weapons isn't scary, it's a free target. 100 newbies in OJ without armour or weapons isn't scary, it's a guaranteed way of getting yourself into the Hall of Fame killing spree list for the day. You won't scare anyone away from the rig, though if there's a hundred of you I guess the server could die, in which case you force everyone out of there.

4) Ask around and see if a competent PKer would be willing to help you get there. If you stress that you want to go purely to see what it's like and not to nab any loot or oil you might find someone willing.

If you do get there, be polite and don't assume it's okay to just walk up to the rig itself. The rig is protected on all four sides by earthen banks, I think it's generally recognised that if the rig is guarded and you walk inside these banks without announcing yourself or anything you're just asking to be shot; so be polite and ask if it's okay to have a nosey. Some people will be considerate, other people will kill you quicker than you can say "Oh crap", just don't be offended if they do the latter - it's a PvP zone after all.
 
I'd quite like to go see the oilrig. Purely for the curiosity factor and to see how
long I could survive for ;)

Got a pile of TPs to find oop North first though.
 
If we can find a quiet time (ie some time when there's not so many trox there that someone on my FL can't survive long enough...) I'll open you a wormhole up. :D
Would struggle to get more than 8-10 thru at a time though.. :(
 
Ofcourse my only intention is to look around. ;) I would not dare to take some oil with me and if I do see some ofcourse I will not try to get it...

Though I would be satisfied being able to post the result here once. Which brings me to another question. How do I make a screenshot in game?
 
noob rig run

I think it would be fun for all concerned. The PK's get to try for the record books and the noobs get to visit twin peaks over and over :)

A mass run at a set time would be an excercise in organization for some of the noob cadet societies and the skills and courage (or wealth) of the parent SOC would be on the line for bragging rights...

An army of unarmed Noobs charging the entropian version of OPEC could be inspiring (and perhaps instructive) for those who might believe in the power of non violent protest in a world where power is concentrated in the hands of the entrenched and wealthy oligarchy :)

It could be fun anyway regardless of your philosophical bent.

Sat the 27 of May is an american holiday that commemorates the sacrifices of our military men and woman in history. A fitting day for a battle.
 
I thought Ascensionday would be a nice fit. Afteral, I expect many to die.

Besides, but I would need more ppl, maybe my soc mates would help out. The troxes and pkers are gonna be a huge problem, or If I could stay alive long enough to open the invitation for wormhole, then it's somewhat feasible...

But I must say, the odds of survival are not great, I can try holding a flower and commence a peaceful conversation with the pkers, but I don't think that would work :(

I see that it's not only newbies interested in getting or atleast seeing some oil at the rig. So maybe we should really try to organise some massive thing like this.
 
The first thing, I think, would be to find out the timezones of everyone who is
interested.

Then look in to arranging a suitable time / date. This may need several runs if
enough people are interested from differing timezones.

FWIW, I'm on BST (GMT+1) at the moment. :thumbup:

If you're serious, I'd love to help out. But it's so much quicker to start from Nymphtown, better get that TP first! And then get lots of noobs to sacrifice themselves!

The Rig

I was curious, so I decided to try to get to the rig. after a few HUNDRED attempts spread out over many different days, I finally made it. I came from the north. (I had travled from pandora on a nice long hunt).

Don't be looking for a big fancy drilling rig. In fact, the Damn thing is so small you might miss it.

I was expecting a big building and stuff. Nope, just a little tan-ish thing about the size of a very small car.

There were a few old alpha trox bothering the ubers, so I managed to get a screenie. Then I was PKed; went down like a fugbara hit by a Marber.
 
seein as the rig is pvp, and there are ubers there that dont like to be shot at, army tactics are needed, becoz after all, is it not a battle ground, all u need is a mx of 5 marber echos, sniping and giving coverin fire for all the noobs to have a good old look around, and possibly one or two in salamander wit mk2's or higher to protect the noobs at close range, and if one or two ubers feel like havin a sword fight, then im sure a few determinations wouldnt go a miss either, all in all, ur lookin at about 10 protector avatars, oh, and dont be scared to take oil, after all, that is why the rig is there isnt it, a im willing to help u out, just as soon as i come back from CND, so i can be one of ur protector avatars, :), ps, never been to rig before beither, lol
 
I am down to join along too. I can help provide some coverfire from pk'ers so long as theres not a bunch of ubers in Eon there. (And as long as i can make the scheduled time, I have a date with mother nature this weekend and camping. Not sure how im gonna live without PE for 3 days in a row, Im probably gonna look like a herion junky diying for that next fix, GIMME PE :scared: )

But keep me posted Dale as to when you want to arrange this, if i can make it, I will go ahead before the group and give you safe coords to jump to. How many people can go through a wormhole at once btw?
 
oh yes, 1 vital part of war, the recon, lol, well, i dont mind bein a scout either, me and sam can handle ourselves, and maybe do some dmg if creature comes along too eh sam, :)
 
let me know when you are going, i might be able to give a little help with the big trox, and closers :)
 
Yes indeed Studley, I'll let you take those Bigger atrox in your angel and i can fap lol. But my Sala is good for laser protection and beter than skin for blp. But with my hands glowing firestorm and maddox/dante stuffed in my bra is usually a fair deterant from being bothered. Unless they are fearless ubers in Eon. Then i hide in a corner lol.

But i would love to see the face of the people who closed the rig and have tons of oj's pop out of nowhere. Maybe i'll just go in OJ too so to be a sleeper.
 
angel, pah, im good enough in ghost, packin heat to, mk2, ep 40, marber echo, and opalo, :D, im good to go, i reckon we can close the rig, also, maybe talk stormer round into helpin us, that would be so cool, hehe
perhaps i could talk a few of my old soc m8 into comin to, would be cool :)
 
Awesome, looks like there is people out there willing to help out :D.
I'm gonna try to work out semantics and time with Dale, see what we can do about this......

As a team, we can prevail!
