It appears the quest is back on. See here for more details.

Dergin Skellig has won and received the global prize, but I'm still waiting for the finder of the blade to contact me.

<THE STORY>
Good people of Calypso. I need your help. While on a typical run while working, I was accosted by some Argonauts. The beating was so bad, that I don't even remember exactly where it happened. This wouldn't bother me except that during this assault, I lost a blade. It's not worth much financially, but it's a treasured family heirloom and I desperately want it back.

My father (Poppa Capital) was one of the first settlers on Calypso. Tragically he was killed during the great bot revolt. This blade is all I have left of him. It's been in our family for generations.

I am offering a reward for its return. I'm even willing to reward those to help in the hunt, whether they find it or not.

Good luck to you.
</THE STORY>

<THE CONTEST>
Hidden somewhere in Argonaut territory (on either Eudoria or Amethera) is a blade. Find this blade, and record it's coords. Return it to me in its current condition and give me the coords where you found it. (The type of blade, current TT value and coords are used as verification.) The one who does this wins.

The game starts 09/23/06 15:00 MA time and will remain open until the blade is reported (with verifying proof) found.
</THE CONTEST>

<THE PRIZES>
Yes, that's right, "prizes" as in plural, as in more than one. First the main prize:

The warrior who returns the blade with the correct information (read above) wins their choice of:

Prize package #1:
Lesser Teleport Chip
Omegaton A103
And Omegaton Fast Aid FAP-28

OR

Prize package #2:
50PED cash

But that's not all! Participating hunters/miners who global/hof/ath on Argonaut territory during this contest gain points toward a second prize.

To earn points, you must post your global/hof screenie in this thread with time and coord stamps in the chat box. The global/hof must occur on Argonaut territory. (A Troxie global at the rig doesn't count.) Points will be awarded as such:

Hunting global = 1 point
Hunting hof = 2 points
Hunting ath = 4 points!

Mining globals/hofs/aths count as double points! (I.E. 2,4,8 points respectively)

The one with the most points when this contest is ended wins the secondary prize choice!

Secondary Prize package #1:
Lesser Teleport Chip

OR

Secondary Prize package #2:
25PED cash

In case of a tie in points, the person with a global/hof/ath closest to the lost blade will win.
</THE PRIZES>

<HOW TO ENTER>
This contest is now free to enter. Just find my fathers blade and return it to me please.
Globals/hofs/aths must be posted on this thread (see above for details) in order to count.
</HOW TO ENTER>

<UPDATED GLOBAL POINT RANKING>
Here's the current standings:

Dergin Skellig = 6 points
Golds = 5 points
Rainha = 1 point
</UPDATED GLOBAL POINT RANKING>

Good luck.

Made a slight change to the secondary prize list. Now the global/hof winner will have a choice between a lesser tp chip or 25PED.

Oh! and um, bump.

The contest is now officially underway. Good luck to the players.

I've changed my mind. This contest is now FREE! (I've refunded the entry fee to those that already paid.) Go forth and search, my fellow Calypsians. Please return my blade to me. I will reward you handsomely.

There's at least 75PED worth of prizes available. Will it be yours?

Now that tempers have calmed down a bit, howzabout a little weekend bump. There's something worth a global (or more) just lying out there. Go find it.

I've had people asking me for hints or to at least narrow it down to a specific continent.

No way! I intended this quest to be VERY hard.

There's lots of Argo territory to cover. Have fun.

And don't forget the global/hof prize. Remember mining in those areas are good for double points.

ok, Soc-Brother, I have to say, if you want this quest to be REALLY HARD, then you have to make the prize REALLY WORTH THE EFFORT.

In an effort to do so, I will up the bounty on my good friend John's heirloom. I won't mention EXACTLY what I am planning, but many people know that I am all about rescuing pets and training them to level 3 and then adopting them out.

We also know that MA has plans to make pets more functional and purpose driven in the near future, so.... Take it from there.

(just for more incentive, the added value of this hunt is now in excess of 250 PED)

Just a quick question... do you check the site daily or whatever to make sure a random person who doesn't read the forums hasn't picked it up?

it's a hard one..there's a couple argos territory's,event some are really hard,mentioning the at least 1 LA i know with nasty argos... well,at least u could say what blade is,if the blade is in a hill or a plane territory....

This is gonna be a really hard competition...

At least there is only like 12 places on PE- wiki with Argonauts...

I don't enter the Argo spots much, because if I do then folks will think that's the spot.

I've got a few friends of mine that check for me. It's still there.

And yeah, I expected this to be long and difficult. Hard to search around when you're being mobbed. :laugh:

bump

very nice idea there! +rep

as for the difficulty...well, sure there are lots of argo spots in EU and there is also the chance someone already found the sword and didnt post it here...but who said this game is easy ;)
cool event anyways, since every hunting global on argos and every mining global near argos has a chance to win :)

hmm i guess ill have to remeber to look down when im under six or seven argos:laugh:

Anytime you're in Argo territory, keep an eye out. I'm willing to pay well for the return of this item.

<out of character>
(And yes, secret reports have confirmed the blade is still in its original lost location.)
</out of character>

Just letting everyone know that this search is still on. John and I expect the search to take some time before it is found and the quest is complete.

The current bounty (combined total of all prizes) is now up to nearly 300 PED if current values of goods stays where it is right now.

As each week passes without the item being found.. (we check it daily) we will continue to add a little more to the bounty, however, once the item is no longer where it was left, the bounty stops building and the one who found it will only have 48 hours to contact John Capital to claim his rewards.

This means you can't find it and plan on keeping it stored till the bounty gets bigger. LOL

Also, just another reminder... the TT value of the item was recorded precisely when it was placed, so if you use it, even once, and the TT value changes, you will likely have just forfiet your prizes.

Keep hunting and good luck!

Still looking. Please help me find my families blade.

Don't forget to post your Argo territory globals here. I see them in the chat window, so I know someone's eligible for the 25PED (Or lesser TP chip, your choice) 2nd prize.

While out...

While out hunting the merciless Argonaut's in search of a fellow Calypsian's family heirloom, I stumbled upon an argo who seemed a bit more affluent than his friends. Perhaps he had found and traded it away for these trinkets? No matter, he was in no condition to speak when I was through with him. The trail remains cold but onwards I search!

[br]Sneaky Argo?[/br]

Thank you, Dergin Skellig for helping in the search. That's 1 point to you. Hmm, guess you won't need that TP chip now, huh?

But, dear me. I don't remember being in that area any time lately.

As I...

As I pressed forward through the mess of Argo-filth, collected skins hanging from my belt-pouch and Opalo shouldered ready for action, I caught a sniff of an Argonaut with the stench of fresh Calypsian on him. I knew he had been feasting recently by the scar on his chest, a battle wound from some blade no doubt... and then it hits me. This has to be the one who has it now! Ruthlessly changing out my weapon while hiding behind a tree, I equipped my mk.II that I had packed for such emergencies; it consumed more ammunition and overheated faster than my Opalo. Snipering him from a distance, he charged onward despite the barrage of laser-fire to his torso, arms, legs, and head, he bore down with the intent to murder deadly clear in his eyes. Acrid smoke filled the air and the smell of burning hair made my eyes water. The massive beast finally fell, spilling forth a hoard of treasure but alas... no heirloom blade in the vicinty.

Well, 2 points already. Looks like others have their work cut out for them. Remember, mining globals/hofs count double points, so a single mining global could make this a race.

Meanwhile the main objective (my families blade) seems to elude everyone.

I have been near there before, but I can't remember if I lost the blade there or some other argo territory.

Maybe I lost it on that other continent. Could someone check for me please?

Happy searching my fellow Calypsians.

Another continent...

In search of the heirloom blade, I decided to scour the distant Argonaut's of Amathera. Upon entering a moderate satchel of land containing humongous chickens and very elderly Argo's, I was greeted with a 3-digit critical hit to the groin which ended that exploration rather abruptly. I decided to scratch this area of Hunter and Scavenger argo's off of my list and barely escaped further ravagings.

Hoping the heirloom blade is not in this hellish area, I decided to TP out rather than have someone organize a search for some piece of me or my equipment in the future due to me going missing in this Argo-Jungle teeming with killer-chickens. As I surveyed the surroundings, I got a lead on a remote gathering of Argonaut's in the western region that's largely tundra and frozen earth. I arrived early in the day, having collapsed suddenly a few times due to reasons unexplained (A doctor later told me it was "CTD Syndrome, usually brought on by a terrible illness known as "VU" which has many strains. The latest seems to be VU8.6.4. an especially deadly one.)

Recovering out in the wilderness from these sudden crashes to unconsciousness, I noticed a smattering of gold-flecked stones littering the frozen-earth. Following these for a substantial amount of time, I finally saw the root of these stones. Upon prospecting the earth I was happily surprised to find a deep deposit of this ore. I'm hoping that I can find this long-lost heirloom after the strange happenings in the universe that forced me to break for lunch. :laugh:

Editted to block secret stuff like so many others do... :D

nice one... very nice... I especially like the storyline you are building in your search efforts.

Keep it up.

Although, I am not so sure if John said which continent he was on or not.

Damned this adventure... we need more people looking and we need more coverage. It's a big big world out there.. surely one man can't do this alone, although it seems he is determined to do so.

Well, Dergin Skellig, it sure seems you are up to the challenge and doing rather well. 4 points total. (Hope you are profiting from this quest) At this pace, you may get both the finding and global prizes.

However, your global has unlocked another part of my memory. Upon further consideration, I must inform you and the other Calypsians that I now distinctly remember that the blade was not lost on Amethera. I am sorry to mislead you, but (aside from a needed ice pack in the nether reigions) it appears you're none the worse for wear for it.

As I said, my memory isn't always that great.

Good luck on your quest. Hopefully others are helping you. I hope you aren't the only searcher.

That was by far the best editing job ever. :thumbup: ROFL!

Ok, I'm ready to give up my exciting life hunting Cornundacaudas and put some effort into recovering this knife.

I'm very disappointed that I can't participate in this event myself. Hunting argo is one of my favorite pasttimes and recently I have hit 3 globals on argo including two in the last two days.

Just my luck, eh? LOL

Keep searching people, I know someone has to be getting close by now.

nice

Nice, yeah it's too bad you couldn't compete lol. Hope your profitting anyway Blackrain. :) Working a lot this week and weekend, Rolling Stones actually booked two concerts in my city this tour, and we just launche a new light show at the casino. Only city besides London to have them stayover for another show :D So I'm hoping I can recover the blade this afternoon otherwise it is up to you, intrepid hunters and miners, to recover this artifact for our good friend Mr. Capital. Good luck all!

Well I certainly appreciate your hard work on my behalf, sir.

However, please remember, this contest stays open until the item is found.

Hopefully, some more globals will be posted here to help stimulate my poor memory.

My search, Part I

Bluvius peeked from behind one of the tropical shrubs that dotted the landscape. There were three argonauts about 100m away, and the worst part was that they were guarding the pass between the two hills. Granted, Bluvius could have run around the hills, but he knew that the blade could be anywhere, and he was not going to let three argo's stand in between him and his fellow countryman's lost possession. He had been searching all day in hopes of finding it and returning it to its rightful owner. One way or another, Bluvius was going to get through that pass.

Though Bluvius was trained in many areas of combat, times had turned for this young explorer, limiting his financial status. Bluvius carried no ammo and no gun. The only weapon he had was his own two hands, but he knew that they would do no good against the over-bearing argo's. He peeked once more from behind his cover. The argo's were now in what seemed to be a rather heated argument. The noise from their snorting, growling, and grunting could have rivaled even the loudest spaceships at Twin's.

However, this was his chance, he had to make a run for the pass. Right when the argos' argument seemed to be at a peak, Bluvius burst from behind his exotic cover, making straight for the pass. The argo's seemed to have been caught off guard, and Bluvius was able to make it past them, though not without the argo's in hot pursuit.

As Bluvius ran, he kept his head down, scanning relentlessly for the lost blade. He lept over a thorny bush, hoping that it was slow the argo's, as they were gaining on him rather quickly. However, the argo's simply trampled the bush, never missing a beat.

The biggest argo was now too close, and took a swing. Bluvius tried to evade, but, alas, his luck was not with him. The argo's claws slashed his back, tearing his worn black shirt. Bluvius could feel the blood running down his back, and his health begin to dwindle. However, as he continued to run and scan for the blade, he didnt have a chance to evade the Ambulimax that pounced from one of the cliffs above. The Ambulimax's attack knocked Bluvius to the ground, ending his search before he could find the treasured blade...

Keep trying my fellow searcher. Never give up, no matter how hard it may be. Ignore the treacherous terrain. Set aside from your mind how tiny the item is compared to the vast land. Persevere against the Argos regardless of how tough they may be. Jump over the competing searchers through sheer force of will.

Someone will prevail. It could be you.

k i need morep oints for these globals, uber -

[br]Click to enlarge[/br]
please :)
thats 3 pointsi n my direction,
can you please make a leaderboard or something?

And Golds comes in swinging! :boxer:

In the future, please make sure the chat box also shows the position and time stamps. (Please see the original post for screenie rules, Thanks) I need this information to help my memory. It's hard to say if I've been in that area before. It looks familiar but without better information, it's hard to say if I could've been in that area when I lost my blade.

Keep up the search guys, and thanks.
