Most Outstanding Citizen of Entropia Universe Poll

Are you all ready to see the results of the "Most Outstanding Citizen of Entropia Universe" Thread?

Well before we get to that I have a few important announcements that need to be said:

1) To Grounder--WOW Thank YOU--Grounder sent me 500 EFD's to give to the winners of this Thread-I can't say thank you enough and I am so happy to be able to offer a prize to the winners that Not only is the TOP Citizen going to get 500 EFD's but I am going to add to Grounder's Generosity. Here is how the prizes will be awarded-500 to our winner-200 to our 2nd place runner up-100 to our 3rd place runner up-50 to our 4th place runner up-and 25 to our 5th place runner up.

2)Thank You to the 5,452 viewer's of this thread-I know a lot of that is duplicated but to see that number is still impressive to me. A very special Thank You for the 111 replies especially to the nearly 70 people who put up nominations.

3) With all the Thank you's out of the way I would like to clarify a few things about how this Thread was originally set-up to run. I had a feeling we would have a few ties come up so as I stated in the original thread there was to be a poll to decide the actual winner. I was correct in that regard and we do have some ties-actually every position for the top 5 has a tie-EXCEPT the top winner--Yes we have ONE official winner however we still need to sort out the 2,3,4, and 5 place runner ups. That is who is listed in the poll. Hmmm how to be fair about this and still decide the true top 5 people-well we could start all over with new nominations and exclude the actual winner but we would most likely end up doing this again and again and again. So I have decided to put all the names in the poll and let you guys sort it out-Top 4 winners of the poll make the top 4 runner ups.

It is this idea that guides me to give back to the community of EU in all the ways that I can. Thanks Neverdie for your example of being a good guy and not letting the "fame" go to your head.

These are just a few of the kind words that were mentioned about Neverdie--I only hope that I can have the True Honor of meeting and chatting with him someday. I guess that means I need to get my butt to CND (Steele you got Oil in that bucket of bolts you call a ship? j/k lol) A tour of the VIP lounge sounds interesting as well, lol. It seems I have hit comes limits established by the forum so the following will unfortunately not have quoted statements from Nominators. Please feel free to add some quotes from the original thread to your posts here for those you would like to see in the top 5.

How can Buzz Lightyear not be included in any poll with this title??

Also, I think Faustian was addressing the fact that:

1. Knuckles is banned from EF

2. Chainfire doesn't play EU anymore (or so I believe).

3. Some of the people on the list are pretty unknown and/or new

Folks, please don't get mad at Gandolf. He simply asked everyone to vote for those we thought brought joy into the game for us. Whether some of these folks are still playing or got banned (from the forum, not the game) for whatever reason, that doesn't make Gandolf responsible for our votes. It is quite possible that their current status was not taken into account when their names and good deeds came to our minds.

While I haven't heard of every name on this list either, I wouldn't expect to. But that doesn't invalidate the pleasant memories these people created within those that voted.

Gandolf had the voting open for a long time and many participated. If you are unhappy with those that are winning, I am sorry to hear that.

But let's keep in mind that this is an exercise to give thanks to those that have put forth great efforts to make some, not everyone, happy to be in the EU.

Status isn't everything and not everyone chips their way to 'uberdom' when they've only been playing the game for 6 months There are plenty of these 'unknowns' that go out of their way to help others out in EU, whether it's running new players to get TPs or other random acts of kindness.

And like the person above me stated, Gandolf had the thread open for quite awhile, people had their chance plenty of times to have their vote heard. Gandolf only went by nominations, so I don't know why you're negative repping him.

I never stated or implied that one needed high skills to qualify for this title of "Most Oustanding Citizen".

Also, perhaps my post was not clear, I was simply guessing why Faustian seems so upset.

I have no problem with anyone on the list, I was only befuddled how one could make a poll like this without including Buzz (who I nominated in the original thread that led to this poll).

On a side note, many threads similar to this one have been done before (do a search), and in all of those, Buzz was always an overwhelming favorite (with good reason), so I was disappointed not to see him in this poll.

To address this issue I must say that Goat is correct that I only selected the top nominations. Buzz did not garnish enough nominations to make the poll. It is nothing personal against Buzz-I have read many great things about his contributions to EU and it's citizens. He is truely an outstanding member of the community, well deserving of being included in this poll. I am just trying to admin this thread and allow the community to select who THEY feel are the MOST outstanding. If people feel it is needed to lash out at me, so be it, I am the thread starter and take responsibility.

Just because Knuckles is banned from EF, doesn't mean that he should not be included, remember EF is only a very small part of the whole community, Knuckles and others like him are banned from this forum because the Moderators here don't agree with their opinions, NOT because they are a bad part of the community.

I agree completely, Flyer. This poll was specificially titled "The Most Outstanding Citizen of Entropia UNIVERSE" .. not FORUM. Level of activity and/or status on EF should not influence the results of this poll.

Knuck is probably the funniest, most genuine, most helpful person I've ever seen in EU

He is unique, a true glitch in the system who occasionally suffers from having a big mouth whilst inebriated...

If he wins the runner-up prize of PEDs, hey Neo (oops - I mean 711) how about considering revising his ban so that he can receive him prize?

Its a really nice thing that amidst some of the more angst ridden threads, someone is looking to find the positive elements of the EU experience.

Without Doubt EU's greatest asset is the community. Some members have been around since Prehistoric times, myself and Mindbuster included, others seem to have only just arrived. However, Luck and persperitation may play key roles on getting your name on the HoF list, but character is what makes the greatest impression on the community.

In my line of VIRTUAL work, I'm very privelidged to encounter and work with many creative, passionate, generous and sometimes Prickly People.

One thing that so many of them seem to have in common is a Desire to see the community, grow and succeed.

Even a little thread in a big forum like this can provide the encouragement some people need to continue..

Gratz to Gandolf and everyone in EU and EF who reaches out to others, whatever your style.

The Fact that I came out on top with the most votes is a sure sign that the process is faulty, so lets not take it too seriously and just enjoy the goodwill behind it.

Free Knuckles!!

Knuckles is my soc m8 and he is best left banned or unable to post. He knows deep and dark things that dont need to be said on a community forum.

However I do think that he should have the IP ban removed so he can at least read the forum and stay informed but not allowed to create new accounts or post.

Too bad you cant punish someone by only allowing them to post in n00bs corner with helpful posts only.

I know ahead of time that I ought to let this go, but I am not going to. I think the saddest thing is that people that, up to now, I had a lot of respect for, seem to have shown their true colours. The original poll, as administered by Gandolf, was fair and honest. For a period of one month, folks were free to nominate anyone whom they pleased. Now, because certain people weren't afforded the recognition they think they deserved, they are behaving like spoiled prats. Faustian's signature speaks glowingly of himself as bringing the community together. I can only suppose he put that there as some sort of joke.

And neoMaven, refusing to get involved because his personal favorite wasn't recognized by the community... how shameful. It is a fact that more people know and appreciate Black_rain13 than your pal, Buzz. I'm not knocking Buzz. Someone not making the final cut doesn't mean anything bad toward them; it only means others have done more and are generally recognized by the community more that others. Personally, I only ever met Buzz one time on CND and he did not acknowledge my greeting. No problem, as he seemed to be busy. But based on that one encounter, should I have voted for him? I think that would be kissing up.

On the other hand, in my first meeting with NEVERDIE, he was most friendly, a genuine fellow, and showed real concern with my well-being. So he got my vote.

That's all I have to say on the subject. Apologies to Gandolf for being so negative in your nice thread. Good job on how you handled the whole affair. I am sorry you got negrepped by the petty minds in here, and look for +rep from me when next I can.

I don't really know many of the people on the list, but think its hard to compare players overall if they are not doing exactly the same things.
