Hi everyone :)

I started a poll to find the average age of my fellow colonists. It has been running for about 17 months and has been very sucessful with over 1400 votes.

I think it is time to start a new poll and close the old one. Hopefully it will collect as many votes as the first one and we can compare the results in another 17 months.

I have adjusted the scale and added a few more categories :)

Why do you need to know personell infomation like a players age????

What benefit is there in collecting this infomation??

forgive me but i realy struggle with some of these polls

simple he was deciding if he should give out beer or suckers (lolies) at his next event and well thats kinda age specific.


no seriously its intresting to know what age groups your with in game as it puts things into perspective what is a concern and what isnt, its simple data and if you dont like sharing well dont.

:confused: It is not personal information as the poll is anonymous. If you choose to tell us your age then it is your choice. It is interesting to see that the average age is quite high in EU and I am surely not the only one interested in this type of information.

If you do not like the poll, then just ignore it...

You say its simple data,however i struggle with that and let me tell you why

ok first off i am in no way accusing or implying anything about the thread starter being a phisher or scammer ect*disclaimer*

If you notice on the forrum there are many such polls requesting"simple data" what relivence to collecting this "simple data"have to do with the Entropian Universe?and how will forrum memebers benifit from divulging said infomation?
Some polls ask for income details some for age some for real life occupations and some for how much you deposit in a month
now call me paronoid(my shrink does all the time)but if i was a clever phisher or hacker or cracker theres probly a lot one could do with this "simple data"
this is not a flame of your thread more of a concern for a trend of such polls i see on the forum a lot recently.
i look forward to reading your views on this matter

25 for exactly 1 month more. Quarter of a century old yet I feel aged beyond that...
 
Still just 29, but very very close to lvl up (30) ;)

I am collecting anonymous data, there is no way to use the results of this particular poll to hack, crack or scam anyone so I don't see your problem with this.

I can understand you point in general, but it does not apply to this poll.

I would appreciate it if you could take your opinion to another thread, maybe start a seperate thread about your concerns. I would be happy to discuss it with you there.

the data you are collecting is not anonymous because a large majority of forum members are directly replying in the thread
also i never accused you in any way of being a scammer or phisher(refer to my disclaimer)
forgive me i do not intend to flame your thread its just perplexes me somewhat by these so called polls
what are the point of them and why ask for such infomation in the first place?what bennifit will it serve the community?

If anyone wants to collect data is simple, you can see peoples profiles (easy using member list on Ef and collect it massively) or look it up in Pe Wiki people :)

If you take a look, Jack made the same thread about 2 years ago (you can see the results in the other thread), this is simply to continue tracking and observing the growth and evolution of Eu regarding what kind of audience (ei; players) EU has..

If you take a look at the other thread, actually several people requested for a new thread to be started, as the old one no longer applied or reflected the current actual information (ei;birthdays)

Speaking from a data collectors point of view, this doesnt really give any kind of open information, simply reflects the age group of players in Entropia and serves as a form of tracking progress throughout the years..people dont need to make a post, they can simply vote : so it only shows that if people voluntarily want to post and state what their age is, then I assume they have no problem with people knowing what their age is..

Oh, and its no secret im 23 ;) (voted)

Those that are replying to the thread do so on their own, and I appreciate the bumps. :)

What exactly do you think I can do with the fact that BMW is 24?

The point of the poll is purely for information for those that are interested in knowing that the majority of the players that frequent EF are over 25 (from previous poll). How is that useful? That is up to the individual to decide, I find it interesting. It is also interesting for me that there are many over 40 (my age group :)) playing EU.

My "so called poll" is purely informational, full stop. I do not want this thread to become a discussion of privacy, so please take it to another thread like this one...

If you are so sceptical why do you give out the same data voluntarily
on your public profile page. Even your birthday is there......
 
Not much data yet but one observation....

Interestingly, it seems the Entropian population has about the same age distribution as the real world :)

I like.

17 here, still in high school but pay for all my own deposits through my job at Jack in the Box :laugh:
