Any pregold players still playing?

joined oct 2002 i remember some trading up for angel, with snowflake I think :scratch2: , almost ended up in shadow :rolleyes:

game was very unreliable , remember meeting hmmm *forget name in pvp1 and i mined too close to his probes, so we dueled it out and as I took some hits I proudly went to pull my adj fap thinking weee I'm invincible and my inventory locked, as it did in those days, and I died to the swipe of a sword :ahh: :(

hard and frustrating with early VU's taking days and more :cool:

the game is much more playable now but proportionally more expensive :scratch2:

:rolleyes: Well of course not... that is just rediculous... if you think it would be a hoot to TT shadow or a mob fap, feel free to PM me - I will give you at least a PED or two. MA could change whatever they want ingame... unfortunately they will never have the ability to change smartasses ;)
 
I had a friend that was pregold but he quit a few years ago. He sold his full set of angel at tt+350 ped, took a break and came back just to relise he could not afford to even get cloese to what he had in equipment (this comeback is form where I knew him) so he stayed for a few month than gave up and havent seen him since...
 
Yea been around for a long time....

A funny story was that the server used to stack people as they entered towns near a tp. You'd end up with like 100 people standing on eachother's heads in a tall tower. No one could move! Ah the good old days...everyone says they wished they had played back then, but back then it sucked in many ways. No user manual, no stats on weapons other than damage, and rubber banding like none of you have ever seen if you weren't from that era. You could walk an entire radar and then get slingshotted backwards to where you came from. Oh yea, no tp chips lol.
 
If I remember correctly I got a mail from PE saying that the COT was about to start.
I think I was not chosen for beta or something I cant remember.
So I started at in the first week of the COT.
And yes..
How dumb I feel that I found IMKII too expensive and declared people mad to pay a few peds more that TT for angel or shadow. :D

Yeah no tp chip. But you forget the increddible running speed back then +there was only eudoria and before that it looked like this:

You could outrun ambullimax providers, atrox dominants, and i think you ran as fast as a alpha. You could also logg out instantly, so everyone logged out when a moob came or a pker in the rigg.

It would have been fun to have been part of PE back then in the early days cuz the pictures show that there have been quite a change over the years.

It would be interesting for us "young" players to hear your stories from way back then.

when i started the highest ATH was 2k ped from longu and the second was 400 ped :)
and that was enormous loots back then.

Aye but let's not forget that maturities weren't always what they are. Or did you simply translate the old ones into today's? :)

Edit: Oh and I miss that map.
 
I remember IRC chat askin Marco when servers are up again... many times..
i remember lots of snarksnots and snablesnots :p
I was 20ped short of ATH with my 1200ped armax.. it had 15 A105s and 20 business pants. 10golden peds and the rest pioneer armor armax plates and skulls. sold most A105s for +5 or for tt too friends.
ttin my laser and scopes when low on peds and buy back from tt when loots were good (they didnt decay)
Yes high lvl weapons dropped a lot more those days but only by the players that still loot em these days :p
some things dont change...
 
one day i had two atrax in a row global for me at Orthos...was a favorite hunting ground for many...i looted two marber bravos in one day that day...molisks were so cool they always gave up alot of peds and globals on them every day almost...noobs were much better off in those days...i never came back from a hunt empty handed and omg argos were the best..hofs galore and items in almost every drop..man i miss those days for sure

a lot of bugs, disconnetions, server downtimes and a lot of excitement
today EU is much more stable, but I lost my excitement mostly
can happen after over 8 years
 
i saw a friend play this game in 03 just after gold i think.. did some reading etc and 4 years later when i had better internet and a better computer i joined :D


.. fyi it was worth waiting 4 years

Hey. Ive also been around for ages in here.
I have a load of old screenies. Lott lil after going gold thou. If u wanna see some ur welcome to.

Maybe ill be able to find the old shopcontainers that would go straight out. Or the old map :D looked al so different than the game does now :D

Making a few peds per week on trading and being able to buy new clothes and decent items. No skill req's anywhere pple werent to hyped up on skills..

Hell every1 had 90 HP then anyways ^^

yes, my account is from pregold... however back then i never got totally into the game... it was about 3 years ago i started getting into it and playing
 
Im pregold and i can tell you all the game is alot better now. Pregold was more about servers begin down alot every day, rubberbanding all over, not meeting a single players for days. The fun part was all the items in loot but it was not like it was raining imkIIs :) I enjoyed the old PE but I also enjoy then new, and I look forward to the future.

After 7 years as well :\.. Especially with the given 'bugging' circumstances recently discovered... It's always fun to look into my old PE file and see the old screenies of random ubers and realize that's where Items came from that are still ingame today. I've saved some amazing things, I wish one day somone would round them all up and create a database where people could look at everyones old pictures. Eg. looted eon shins, psg's, mod dars, eon harnesses, and other things looted from trapped spiders lol...

It would be a nice nostalgia trip indeed.:smoke:
 
I remember how noone would explain what was going on what you should do etc etc because everything seemed like a secret and telling you anything would cause a loss to them.The one thing that sucked me into the game and kept interested was the absolute HATE i developed for ATROX !!! In those days as soon as you saw the red dot on the radar if it was an atrox it was already coming after you and that feeling of being chased by an AI nasty critter just captivated me and made me develope a hate so much i had to find a way how to kill them, i can remeber clearly the day i could stand there and kill them with some ease and it was as good feeling:)
Bad things i remeber are the lag i mean lag lag lag lag ! Players would kill steal by using the lag as a tool. Servers would crash and be down for hours and hours untill the first MA guy would arrive at work in the morning and reset them.And what about all the underware in the loot . Lady , T-REX , were some of the big players then besides Warants and CK Angel/Gem . And hunting was cheap and alot of fun , i miss those days ALOT.
 
I'm still playing from pregold days, yes.

And FYI, people have been talking about how lots of people are quitting the game is dying the entire time.

Been here too long

I am not Pre-Gold but started in March of 2004.

The game was much different and I must agree with the folks that say todays Entropia lacks the excitement of the old.

My memory of spawning for the first time in PA. No game prompts telling me what to do or how to start -- I feel like a real colonist peering out at the great unknown. I finally figure out the controls of the game and head into the city. PA is bustling with activity, folks selling their wares, I can see others hunting just beyond the turrets. I head out into the unknown. I see mobs in the distance and steer clear -- my goal is not to die just yet but to see how far out I can go. I got a little to close to an Atrox and I cant outrun it. I respawn in Camp Phoenix. This was a different place than PA -- lots of folks running outside of camp to sweat diripi and/or skill FAP. I didnt understand skilling at the time and thought it a strange pass-time. I pulled thousands of bottles of sweat and was able to sell it for a respectable price (try that today - HA!). Bought an Axe 1x0 and started hunting. Every kill brought some loot -- it was like opening a present each time (and no coal!) I often looted items that I could actually equip and use (no useless oils and countless other things that have no immediately intuitive use). Most all stackables had some kind of markup available. If I had the patience to stand in PA I could sell my wares with everyone else and make a profit. I played this way for years until my character was worth some 3k PED (not counting skills). I could pretty much count on a 115% ROI hunting small Berys near Cape Corinth (and that is before markup -- alas not anymore).

It seems that this game has become more about cycling PEDs in the hope that you hit a big one. Its more a casino than a game -- and I never thought I would make it big but I never considered I would ever see the kind of losses I do in one night. Its all relative, I know. I was one of the original whiners when they nerfed up the 1x0s. I laugh now every time MA nerfs something else up (like the mining debacle now) because those same folks were telling me to stop crying when they changed the stats on my axes. Just wait... if you play long enough MA will do SOMETHING to piss you off. They have to make their share and they dont do it in the most transparent ways. Worst of all they mislead and cheat you (as far as Im concerned). I have a life now (shes 17 months old ;O) and Im not losing sleep over a game. Just dont be surprised when things 'dynamically' change. Thats how MA rolls.

Yes, I do long for the old days before MA felt comfortable enough to rip off 1/3 of their playerbase in one VU update. Its nice when the customer is always right... but when an enterprise forgets its customers are the reason for the business it can get ugly.

The ONLY reason I keep coming back is because of the AWESOME folks I have met here. They make all the difference in the world! Thanks Moose, Sure, SB, CareBear, Chelle, Myst, etc... [the list goes on].

What old beta picture part? This forum is relatively new. It wouldn't contain beta pictures. Or did you look on entropiapioneers?

Anyways.. I am far from pre-gold.. Started in March 2004.

I'm one of the goners... And I come back to the forums every 6 months to see how's the mood and how the game feels like for its players. Always the same sort of stories and posts - Oh how I miss pre-gold, a post or two about how someone lost a lot of money and a couple of people furious about no loot or useless boring loot.

I do not regret leaving. I regret not having played more back in pre-gold era as it looks like the Entropia I loved is truly gone forever.
