There’s a lot of data that will be coming through the pipeline in the next week, and more in the following months as Calypso is reborn and the new planets come online.

I know there will be many efforts to explore and document the brave new world. Rather than making them a collection of singular efforts, it might be far more effective for data to be pooled, hence this post. :)

In order to keep all the players in the same page for coordinates, I propose a convention for map coordinates that will work in the new multi-planet environment:

CCLMxxxx yyyy

Where:
CC is company, IE, FP for First Planet, NI for Next Island, CK for creative Kingdon, RT for Rocktropia, etc.

LM is Landmass descriptor. EU for Eudoria, AM for Amethera. Others are unknown at this time of course, but it shouldn’t be too hard to label these as they come online. As placeholders in the format, CY, NH, and RT will be used for Cyrene, Neihrous, and Rocktropia landmasses till such time as land mass names are revealed by their respective owners.

Xxxx yyyy coordinates similar to what we already have. Right now the scale of the new system is unknown, so it may well be that additional digits are needed.

The New Oxford TP, previously given by MA has to be reached now.

It's still there, but the moose is gone. They built a Mall there.

I don't think that part is necessary, the new coordinates on Calypso prevent overlap, not to mention you can see both continents on your map when you zoom out alot. Amethera is southwest of Eudoria.
 
Valid point. Had no idea what we were getting into when I started the thread, so tried to work with the old model of coordinates.

It may well be that a single company may have additional planets though. Let me think about how to overhaul a little. :)

And abbreviation for the location is needed. When you press P you get 'Calypso' + lat, lon, alt when you are planetside, when you are up in space you will probably get another string.
 
what would be good if someone could help witte in setting the map up on Entropedia or 711 setting up one here.

where you can just input co-ords and a image.

maybe somone with good webprogramming could work on something like this.
lots of info to log,
cities, outposts, mob spawns.....

Somehow i managed to not get the coordinates...

I also found an outpost at Calypso 66750, 70120.
 
I'm thinking to leave it as is for the time being. With landmass codification, a person with a big-ass printed map would know which continent to point their finger at to start looking for numbers.

As for space, they'd be FPCN and FPCP (should our friends rebuild Crystal Palace... I hope they do!)

...and then there's the mysterious Area 63. WHAT GOES ON IN THERE? Is it secret robot bases here on Calypso? The Federal Imperial Government reverse engineering Robot Tech? Horriffic Cyborg or Mutant experimentation?

I don't know, really, because I'm too new to have seen the original. Looks like a clone to me (beta. not final version).

I'd like to add some more pics from today's run, but the insert [my photos] link does not seem to work. I'm logged in, but the insert manager opens a window for "unregisterd". Therefore, I cannot link to my pics. Anyone knows how to solve this?

Anyway: There are TPs at:

Don't know whether I can find some more in the near future, because the revival I'm at is surrounded by Allophyls, Tezlapods and Araneatroxes. That's not good company for someone unarmed and without an armor.

If you're still stuck, let me know and I'll see if I can get some of my soc mates to go escort you out. I'd go myself but I'm working with support on what seems to be a server side issue that's preventing me from logging in.

Nus Lull hasnt got a TP (I guess) but New Oxford has. To know which ones have TP and which ones don't you could write TP after the name/coords.

Dont know if Camp caravan still has a TP :rolleyes:

Taken under advisement. Where such data is known, I'll add a field to represent a teleporter.

This data is NOT intended to be an end-all be-all, but a quick catalog for those that wish to make improved data products for colonists.

Besides, once the numbers are known, a person can go, visit and make their own classifications. :)
