Hello,

Myself and several others have formed a soc called Calypso Rescue Team.

I think we can all agree the future of PE will not be down to the "ubers" spending lots of cash but by a constant stream of n00bs who like what the see and continue to play.

The reason for setting this soc up is due to the large number of n00bs who join, get stuck in an outpost and some never play again as they lose heart after being savaged by an atrox young for the 1000th time.

One n00b we found was trapped in an outpost for two months and not one person helped him as he spoke broken english. It wasn't hard for anyone to figure out he needed help.

What we aim to do is to get them to a safe place and try give them a decent understanding of how PE works.

If anyone is interested in joining us please visit a soc terminal and apply or PM me so we can arrange a meeting place. We are looking for people in all different time zones and with all differnet skills.

Please dont be put off because you think you dont have high enough skills. Several of us, myself included, have only been playing a few months and we gain the skills hunting together in a team on the way to rescue people.

Together we can make Calypso a better place!

As a noob who spent a couple of sessions trying to wend my way between dozens of Mobs from one distant outpost, I think this is a great idea...

if your lazy just call the support and they'll rescue you. ;)

that will put us out of a job!

what you need at outposts is a distress terminal. you call for help and a beacon in the major town/cities goes off on the distress terminal there. peeps can then check whos stuck where and maybe flag that they are on route.

I'm very happy w/ my current society, but I like your idea. If you ever need a hand rescuing someone, drop me a PM here and I'll be glad to help. :)

Good luck!

Nice idea guys. I know how it feels to be stuck somewhere. I already have a soc, so I wont be joining you, but if you should ever need the help of a noob to rescue a noob, just send me a PM, I will see if there is anything I can do.
But dont call me when you are sorrounded by Atrox Old Alpha, I cant take those. Young is fine :D

+rep for you

This is just an announcement *cough* bump *cough* that the CRT (that's Calypso Rescue Team, of course) -- is still looking for people who are ready, willing, and able to help out when someone gets "stuck" at some distant outpost...

Qualifications:
- Ready to occasionally drop what you are doing to help the less fortunate.
- Willing to escort people back to safety, and learn safe ways to do it.
- Able to reach all those trouble spots and get back out again.

There are of course, ways you can help even if you don't feel like joining our soc. Number one is to let us know if you happen into somebody who is stuck. The "universal bat symbol" for this is to yell out "RESCUE NEEDED" at your next TP.

A second way you can help is to support our request for a special "Rescue" channel that operates like the team, soc, and event channels, but reserved for emergency use (only 1 message every 30 seconds allowed). This change request would reduce MA's support load, and help make the community more self-sufficient.

Thanks, and have a great holiday!

excellent idea. +rep

This isn't a bump, really!

One idea I submitted is to create an emergency channel, with a separate toggle to determine if you can hear it. It would require no virtual device anywhere, but it would limit you to 1 message every 60 seconds. I won't go into particulars (and I doubt MA will pay any attention to details anyway), but the idea is that it would work like the team or soc channel.

Oh and another idea I submitted was loosely related to this:

I've thought about a rescue soc myself.. I help at least a couple defenseless noobies every day... hope it works for ya :)

soc members convey my apologies to Hector again for me for killing him :D :dunce:

Well serenity the killin hurts me a lot in heart... You have to know i like whips more than swords :tongue2: anyway i would appreciate to call you a CRT'ian ;)

LoL, I heard Serenity talking up his kill the other day... I just thought he was trying to stir things up (both myself and passion were there).

I'll be monitoring the list of soc applicants, any time you want to apply, Serenity ;-p (you too, tony). I may even let you get me in the ring... I've never been killed yet! (ahem, I've never been in one, either... and I'd be no challenge to you, lol).

what hours do you play??

I find myself looking for noobs to help (who knows, either i want to show off or return the favor ;) ) but eitherwho, my current soc doesnt have many members and most are offline when im on. Hopefully someone is on when i play in this soc :)

Seems a fairly rare occurrence to bother starting a society.

I may start a new soc myslef for something equally irrelevant - watch this space. ;)

We had great fun during our hunting session the other night. Lots of big laughs

Half the soc plus two extra where on in team hunting. And I think there are room for a few more. :cowboy:

This thread needs a bump as we celebrate our 11:th year now.

It was also the first public post that we had started.
