Found a thread about a second cryengine2 mmorpg. Is it another planet?

mmo news says:
According to an anonymous source, the new virtual world game on the block, Blue Mars, might be entering into open beta on September 2nd. Right after the world's 1st CryENGINE 2 MMO Project Entropia transformed into Planet Calypso, what will Blue Mars bring us?

http://www.bluemarsonline.com/

no, by what i read they are trying to make a enhanced version of second life.

It sounds like a whole new game, rather than a new planet. All through the website, it says nothing about being affiliated with MA...
Maybe MA has some new competition?

With more and more to come.
We are about to enter the Virtual Life & Microtransaction era. 2010-2019.

This will be common - Added diversity to doing what you want to do and be with those companies you wish to be with in the ongoing development of their product.

"The platform’s secure transaction backend supports micro-transactions, pay to play, trial to buy, and subscription services so developers can choose the business model that suits them the best."

This doesn't sound much inline with MA's standard RCE MO.

Totally unrelated to Entropia - As far as general searches go.
Sending them an email for confirmation on this is best.

It looks like a whole new playing field for those interested in social networking and content development - Communal city design for socialising within.

Not really an MMO game :)

I can see how this can easily put up competition to rocktopia and those sort of environments on the Entropia platform - Or even education and shopping worlds.

It's a competitor (although seems more like its competing with SL). What makes you think that its related to EU, just because it uses CE2? :scratch2:

It has nothing to do with MA or the planets. Just a new social network 3D world like Second Life.

Sparkz is right and there will be a lot of competition. Some of that competition will be flying the EU platform, some will fly the SL platform and others will bring their own toys.

/\

Totally agree. Hopefully this new competition puts a scare into MA to fix the mess that EU is in a little bit faster!

Yes that, and MMO news mentions it next to Entropia.
How can a new company simply use Ce2? Is it freeware? that got me thinking.

No lol - CE2 does not come cheap at all.

They are piggy-back marketing - or better put, riding the wave :)

people keep saying this, but where is it? there's only one project i know of and its hamstrung by desperatly trying to be Project Entropia yet not having the same economy based on scarcity which is the foundation of Entropia. its also clearly under-resourced and basicaly a (very godd) hobby/amatuer game, and makes Crytopia look very, very and polished.

this is the strategy behind the platform, Next Island, Creative etc. you create your own competition. when people switch they switch to another of your brands.

They have nothing to do with MA, one of two new mmos using the cry2 engine, one just finished closed beta and launches next month, BM just went into closed beta and will follow soon behind. MA launched quick and can now claim the title 'first mmo using Cry2', coincidence? Um, could be, btw, we aren't allowed to discuss other games on EF, so I didn't actually say anything :scratch2: (sorry Neo).

There is no competition from this game, since the target audience is completely different. They will probably be more successful in player base though due to the broader appeal :) Planet Calypso is fairly niche.

I guess that if you wanted to use cry engine, crytek would sell it to you without any problems. As long as you are able to pay.

Golf courses.. both@beta

It's another game/platform of Hawaii-based developers, which uses
(CE2) engine & belongs to RCE genre. As for competition, currently
it aims to take a piece of cake from that another L1f3, but because

some folks found some golf fields-like structures on Calypso, there is
a probability of intersecting both worlds in this kind of activity.. :coffee:
As for content, atm looks more like educational game (museums, etc.)

get ready for :locked: coming this way for discussing other games, then op will be kicked back to vu9.4 where he will spend the rest of his life as a bandit.

If it is another planet, can we pk the golfers shown in the website?

Here's the problem in the question:

CE2 is not = MA
CE2 = CGA/3D/Graphics engine created by Crytek and can be sold or partnered with any online/offline gaming development company. It is not a proprietory software of MA, Entropia Universe is (which uses CE2 as its latest graphics engine).;)

I'm in the closed BETA.

It has nothing to do with all your silly hypothesis.
It won't be a big bang nor a great step for gamerkind.
The publicity promises way more than the product offers.
I'd even go as far as to say MA's lies shy away in comparison to Blue Mars's.

I only liked one single aspect of it, and it was pooly explioted by the players.
Hope the open BETA has much better features than the closed one... or any features at all. The thing is barely something better than a laggy 3D chat with a few minigames.

Yeah... it looks nice... but it marginally surpasses SL's graphics.

I did... it didn't mention anything about negative comments.
Though it may have been implicit....

I still have permission to aknowledge the existence of the closed BETA
and that I'm participating in it. :wise:

You might want to read again what you agreed to. ;)

I'm a Blue Mars Beta tester too (also a "developer beta tester"), and I agreed to this:

Yes, I'm sure.

BTW, I haven't yet said anything about the developpers' comments.
I've just voiced my opinion. (adjectives and vague comparisons)
I dare you to find any concrete information in it...
at the risk of violating the contract yourself.

Yeah, they implicitly want me to shut up about their game.
But quite frankly, if they didn't sanction the guy who uploaded the tutorial videos to YouTube, then a grumpy opinion wouldn't affect them in the least.

Granted. :D
Those guys twitter/countdown every hour until open BETA goes live.

When the closed BETA ends I'll be free to say whatever crap I like.
Won't matter; people will be able to see the thing for themselves.
After we closed BETA veterans crash the servers down, that is.

Three early entrance invitations 100 PEDs each.
