DPS and PED cycling is the key. Armor decay into skillgain on tants and aliens are very similar, just tants seem more eco because you die less. I've heard hogglos give some pretty snazzy evade gains too ;)

Indeed, rockets seem to be the only way to get decent DPS into tants without recklessly overkilling.
 
How come these creatures are so great for skilling, exactly? Couldn't some fight a bunch of other stuff at one time and get the same result? Also, unless armor decay is factored into looting, wouldn't this be uneconomical?
 
low hp, highly aggro, swarm like crazy, easy to kill, and armor options for tants are cheap (gnome + 2a is great). lower hp mobs = more kills. more kills = more chance for skill bonus after the kill = more skills

they just are:) no real reason...


or more specifically, there's alot about mob attributes and the effect on skills that we don't fully understand...

merp seem to be similar... but i think alot of players like the diverse types of loot tant give a bit more...
 
i wish M2S could get tant DNA and replace the merp w/ tants. that would be incredible.
 
i sent a support case to MA about the old tantillion spawn and they basically gave me the same crap canned response i expected. 'with the impact of blah blah rocket much of planet calypso has changed, etc etc..... you should ask other players and consult with the game related forums to help locate any mobs you might be looking for'

WELL NO SHIT.... thats the whole reason i was sending a support case because i have done all that. god sometimes support pisses me off
 
where can i find them tant at?

Until there is a good spawn with tants somewhere, this might be a substitute.
A lot of merps atm.

Especially this spot had high density, Amethera E of Nea 312, 354

just visited the tant spot northeast of fury... there are tants and all still there but also diripi prowlers and pugugli stalkers :mad:
I hate insects... :silly2:
 
New Spawn?

I just ran into a massive tant spawn a very short ways NE of ESM. It was not there quite recently, so it appears to be a new or at least vastly expanded spawn.

UPDATE - Never mind. Seems like someone must have pulled them over from further east, because it's back to normal now.

What the hell is a "default tantillion"? Are there other types or did they just screw up?

No change in stats anyway.
