ToolMan’s Employment Expedition.

… and so it begins

It is the D-Day for you, I wish you good mining and hunting moments. "Should the HOF coming to you."

Thanks Kay … you are a kind and venerable avatar indeed sir. :D

This post is a little late, about an hour. Sorry, forgive me please.

Deployment schedule delayed: Intentional

Upon the advice of a few individuals involved with the expedition whom I respect, I will be releasing the deployment schedule in game in real time. Sorry for the delay, but it should not matter to the success of the venture. Each unit will be given their location of operation when it is time to go.

Remember the RoE

Please people; remember the “Rules of Engagement” …

Miners; your soul purpose is to mine. In the event that your unit should encounter a rough, hard-hitting mob, your FAP’ing skills will be important here. Try to be fast with your work, yet at the same time maintain effectual blast patterns, consistent bomb/probe placement, and try to remember the difficulty level the hunters are facing when running from place to place.

Hunters; Globaling, HOF’ing, and generally killing mobs is secondary to your mission. Your primary objective is to protect the escortee (miner). Remember, increased operational efficiency is the rule of the day. It takes a long time for someone to effectively drop 100 bombs and 100 probes (about two to three hours), and statistics would indicate that you may run out of ammunition first. Shot only when necessary.

A few brief words here

I have had the chance to discuss, with a great many people, some of whom have been here in PE for a very long time, this Employment Expedition of ours. It would appear that this is perhaps one of the largest and most ambitious voyages of its kind (special emphasis on “of its kind”). I believe that we all (myself included) have a unique opportunity to be a part of something very special.

*gets chocked-up … can’t find the words*

I would like to say thank you to everyone involved. Through your active participation in this thread, and your role in the journey itself, you have helped to make this an event to remember for a long time to come, and I’m certain that we will be establishing friendships that will stand the test of time.

A very special thanks to DarkAngel, Ragna Rock, and ViagraFalls, without whose ideas and feedback none of this would be possible.

Not sure what else to say here. C’ya in game :D

Regards, respect, and uber-esteem,
ToolMan.

Meeting

Cheers. :)

Good luck on your venture Toolman, hope this will bring in more than it cost. ;)

I would like to apply as a hunter, because this is my main proffesion in PE, and I had enough HoFs, Globals in the past to be sure that it will be profitable for you and for me.

Pretty bold statement I must say :D
I have had my deal of HOFs and globals, but I can insure you that even on very economic hunts, I can still lose money.
Also, didn't we have a talk not so long ago about you losing alot of money over short time, or was it someone else... Don't remember... LOL

Anyways, good luck to all you peeps :)

Thought i would post my expedition SS here :girl: [br]Click to enlarge[/br]

I would like to thank Toolman for putting together this event. I had a good time mining. It was an easy task when I had 2 very good escorts, Nea and Zasz, thank you both for a good job.

Unfortunately I didn't bring back as much ore/enmatter in tt value as I hoped, but the experience was very fun and I got a lot of skills out of it. I would very much like to be a part of future events of this kind.

Again a big thanks to Toolman for taking the time and effort to make this happen.

And so it comes to an end

With the early loss of ViagraFalls and RagnaRock who could not be in attendance, I juggled the final roster and dropped myself from my (lonely) unit. Having discovered that young master Jaget was missing his deployment TP, I made a last minute adjustment to the roster, and we finally launched the expedition like this.

Unit #1
Jena (miner)
Matt (Hunter)
Vedder (Hunter)

Unit #2
DarkAngel (miner)
Nea (hunter)
Cade (Hunter)

Unit #3
SpamBoy (miner)
Jaget (hunter)
Pretender (hunter)

Unit #1’s miner, Jena, displayed the most efficient mining techniques that I have ever seen. She deployed all her bombs/probes in under 2 hours, and helped to increase the overall efficiency for the whole team. With a 59 PED Blausariam Global and a total return of ~130 PED’s of material, I can safely say that she led the “A” team for this event. Bravo!

Unit #2 was unfortunate enough to be deployed by me to one of the most barren desserts in all of Eudoria. They remained troopers throughout the entirety of the event however (thanks SunLee, Nea, Cade) and participated until all bombs/probes were deployed in the hopes of finally bringing in a decent return. The land was far too barren for this though, and in the end they only ended the expedition with ~60 PED’s of material. This was my fault entirely as the final deployment was left to me.

Unit #3 had perhaps the most challenging of days and was in the field for the duration of this event (about 5 hours). After first having been deployed to an equally barren wasteland as unit #2, they made a judgment call as a group and decided to find better digs on their own. Jaget and SpamBoy got stuck at an outpost after Pretender left (early departure for RL stuff) and Pretender was nice enough to rescue them when he logged back on. Their judgment call helped to reduce the total loss, and they finally brought in a total of ~75 PED’s of materials. This may at first seem low, but SpamBoy did not use all bombs/probes.

I’m still waiting to gather Jena’s decay data (she had to leave very quickly), but as it stands right now I may have lost a total of about 60-80 PED’s. This number is not final and I must wait to see what the market brings for all items gathered, but these losses are more than acceptable for 9 people. I’ve lost more than that on solo missions!

I would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone involved in this operation. This was very exciting and rewarding for me (the expedition wasn’t about PED’s as I’ve said somewhere before) and was certainly the most fun that I’ve had in PE to date. I really can’t say “Thank You” enough people. You are perhaps the greatest individuals that I’ve had the grace to meet in PE, and for that I am truly grateful.

Cheers,
ToolMan.

yes, it was fun. and im sorry i had to leave aerly, and glad i could bring back the rest of the team :)

the rescue part was hard tho, at one time i had aprox 5 maff and 3 merp on me all at the same time  i know it isnt to hard in nem, but decayed ghost is way harder. still i managed to get to them, and get them out. near town we met someone who was happy to give some tips to us for future deployment. I've had a great time, and would be happy to do it again. next time i can maybe be both hunter and miner, or just one of the two :)

The expedition was great fun but for some reason i ended up earing money from the loot, I thought toolman got all the loot but he didnt ask so i just kept it. Only wish i had hunted a lot more, ended up with over 100 ped ammo left and i gave 20 ped of my original 150 ped worth to Pretender, i need a bigger gun if there is going to be another expedition and if i get in.

it was fun trip, ty Til for pulling this off, my job was easy, maybe too easy, choppin those daikibas/exarosaurs/fouls with kat determination ;) oh well, DarkAngel was safe which was my priority.

too bad the land was lil "dry" for our groups miner, but who knows, maybe in the next expedition we do better ;)

I've got a bid in the auction right now :). I'm hoping to pick up one of the cheaps ones that are in the auction, i don't want to pay anything over +30, may take a while to find a cheap one but i don't have the peds to throw away.

So much fun

Thanks to Toolman for this magnificent event. It was really a lot of fun.
If you ever decide to pull off a 2nd expedition, I'd love to participate.

I also have some suggestions to improve YOUR economy off the event... It's not fair IMO that the particapants makes money on this, unless you do so too, but let's talk about that if you decide to try again sometime.

Anyway, I gained some skills and had a lot of fun. Can't ask more, eh?

Sounds like u had a blast even though u lost peds. :)

If any upcoming events are on the way i´d like to participate aswell (preferrably on a saturday or sunday).

So count me in and pm me tool if u need another hunter.
