Info: Unreal Engine 5 Devblog

seeya at Easter!

In about a year we aim to have a fully playable part of the world with close-to-final visuals, core functionality and mechanics — enabling us to lay the foundations for future systems and gather your valuable feedback.

2.5 years can we get an update?
Show us a video?! ^^

facepalm is it me or did it have 11.25 fps? camera man needs daily beers? still looks like CryEngine 4? delete this im going to far
Good job Minddark, seriously I know 95% of the stuff I say is pretty negative, but I do have some faith that you will produce a good product in the end. I think UR5 is why most of us are sticking around. Communication and deadlines need some work. I think if u could hit them two key points you would have better moral from your supporters.

Gosh...it just looks so bad and lifeless. Why can't they make things look good? It's a design issue, not an engine issues.

Just so bland and generic looking, and yet still looks like something from 2010.

Please Mindark, bring back your uniqueness.

what are you on about it looks great
Pretty much look like generic Unreal asset flip.

Looks better compared to now but still generic.

What he reference as souless is just that, could be any game but is it EU in core?

Compared to what? The fucking Atari? These are generic assets that can be thrown up together in an hour by a single person. There's youtube video tutorials that are 10 minutes long that can make something that looks 100x better.

Please take off the rose tinted glasses. These no theme, love, care into these graphic "designs" and in fact in a stream a while ago we had found assets that were on a free asset market that Mindark allegedly used.

Does it look better than what we have now? Yes, but that's....such a low bar.

bro, the title of the video is literally "Imported worlds in Unreal"

you can expect the same desolate world we have, in a new engine. woohoo!

what did you expect? a completely different world? different looking armor or character models?

I expected it to not look like shit. The running animation itself looks awful.
They have had 4 years to show something besides a 50 second "tech demo" be fucking real.

Stop having rose fucking tinted glasses.

and be respectful man, there's no need to swear every few words to get your point across.

and have a look at the comments, there is not a single negative comment regarding the visuals... everybody is thrilled, except for you.

i dont have rose "fucking" tinted glasses, i just appreciate the direction the game's visuals are going

it looks really, really good, and it can only get better with time. come on especially as a runescape player you can't seriously look at that showcase and think "man this looks like shit its awful!" unless you're acting in bad faith...

And look on the forum post of it, it's not all compliments.

There's also difference between "looking good" and "design" as well. Old school runescape has one coherent design.

And I'm sorry if my cursing hurt your feelings. Not really, but whatever.

You can like how the direction of the visuals is going, but it's poofy, unclean looking and very low texture quality. We've seen what UE5 can do, and the fact that they are for some reason still going to support the old engine while they also support the new engine is such a slap in the face to growth and designing capabilities.

I hope your rocktropia bumps actually do something to that obsolete planet.

Angela Draniee Cloud is one of those people who had good faith and did alot good for the community information wise.

Even if it's in bad faith, wich it is not, just realistic in my opinion.

I think he can afford to voice he's opinions without sugar coating it. 🤦‍♂️

Sugar coating things and letting bullshit fly is why we're in this situation to begin with.

well, yeah, but the opinion is "this looks shit UE5 can do better", and no one disagrees that ue5 can look awesome, but once again this is not a showcase of what UE5 can or cannot do, but just a showcase of our current world, with its flaws, in ue5

3 years id assume new deadline ,maybe issues with transferring old content, could be PP issues, seems they are buying/expired dev contracts with planets

yea wth we are cruising in on 3 years. it takes that long to "port" an already fleshed out game into new unreal?
