Win an Appartment: free competition!

This is a 'free to enter' competition where anyone has a chance of winning an apartment...it's just a small one on Calypso...I have two or three so can't remember location but I'll post in the F.A.Q.

The competition will run until my birthday, October 28th, and I've decided to deem that the start of Kev's Golden Age.

So consider this a special KGA apartment prize.

There will also be a second prize, not sure of the value but probably around 300 peds...I'm bored and this will amuse me and be cheaper and with less lag than hunting!

OK a few more details for now....

Basically the competition is in two parts:

1) to win the apartment you'll have to vote for a particular music video and guess which one I rate the best performance.

At the end of the competition the person who has voted for the one I like the best wins the apartment...if there is more than one vote for that video then it goes to a ballot determined by the UK's national lottery numbers.

2) to win the second prize you have to choose the song/video you like best and give your reason why...I will choose the winner of this prize.

Those of you who have read my blog might have noticed that I'm a massive Richard Thompson fanatic and you will have to choose from a total of 18 of his music videos that I've posted in my blog (so far).

This type of music isn't to everyone's taste but you could just take a stab in the dark and win the competition anyway without listening to any of the tracks.

I'll be posting all 18 music videos in this thread and will set up a poll: remember you are voting for the performance I rate as the best one, not your own preference (you post your own preference and why you like it in this thread).

Q. How long does this competition run?

A. Competition closes at 22.00 hours M.A. time on October 28th, 2009.

Q. Where is the apartment located?

A. Omegaton Alpha Complex, Apartment B, Floor 1 (rent unpaid but I will pay a year's rent before prize is won)

Q. Can I change my vote after I've voted?

A. No.

Q. How do I know you won't rig it so your friend wins the prizes?

A. Well, you'll just have to trust me on this.

But if there is more than one winning entry then at least you'll know it will be decided at random using the National Lottery Draw to decide the winner.

Q. Who is this Richard Thompson anyway?

Q. But I don't like Richard Thompson or folk music/folk rock/English traditional songs, I don't like his voice and he can't sing for toffee and is a rubbish song writer. Also, x, y and z are much better guitarists!

A. Well I understand that RT is not to everybody's taste and that's fine of course.

But you could still win the competition by just voting at random and not listening to any of his songs if you really don't want to.

Not sure yet but will probably comprise of one of those blue, L storage units for keeping apartment stuff in + some items or peds and efd also.

This is my main motivation for doing this Rockchick and thank you so much for your comment!

Thompson has never been exactly 'mainstream' but many of us think he hasn't got the audience he deserves.

Not that he complains though, RT is only interested in making great music rather than making mega bucks.

I'm going to guess 1952 Vincent Black Lightning for your favourite, because it's probably my favourite Richard Thompson song.

It's a fantastic song I agree and probably the one most associated with Thompson.

Not sure why, the way he plays it certainly doesn't match the lyrics so I guess its sort of tongue in cheek and I like that.

So far that's two entries into the competition for the KGA Second Prize, where contestants have to pick their favourite RT music video and post in this thread their reasons for liking it.

The Second Prize will probably comprise of one of those new blue L storage facilities for estate owners and maybe some items or peds inside it depending what mood I'm in at the time or how drunk I am.

Shame you can't have this all wrapped up in one thread, but I voted on my random choice of 'your fav' on the appropriate thread with poll.

My vote for my fav is The Heart Needs A Home, easy peasy, I always loved this song, and that vid is classic Richard and Linda, in much younger and happier days.

Loads more I could say about this man, mega talented, mega shy and down to earth, unassuming even in the company of some of the world's most 'recognized' musicians. A rare treat on occasions at my annual 'birthday party' known as Cropredy Check him out, more than just this smattering of less than ideal utube vids, really.

I vote for video #15 "I feel so good" because of the way he connects with the crowd and loosens them up to the song with a comical background to it. Then when he gets into the actual song he seems really into it and its like he becomes that person, takes on that role. Shows alot of passion when performing this song, genuinely. Probably seems like this because he was younger it looks like and the type of attitude he portrays. And good guitar solo at around 3:20 to 3:55 of the vid. 35 seconds of just rippin on the guitar.

I also vote it as my fav video/performance. Catchy song too.

The story leaves a lot to the imagination. Kind of sad really, He had a good time with the girl but only enough for a ring on her right hand. He seemed to have no family or friends outside of her. He was true outlaw living his dream. But when his crimes caught up with him the only person at his deathbed was the redhead.
