Basic Pigment Enhancer

What are these, how do they work and how do we find them?
Those are the questions which I'd like to answer in this thread, along with the help of others out there.

What are these?
The information states that this pigment is used to improve the coloring result. The basic ones have a TT Value of 1 PEC.

How do they work
It appears as if we are able to replace certain colors with Basic Pigment Enhancers instead, these will improve our coloring result without the use of more actual paint cans.

I have so far managed to get a hold of three, and I have yet to see any affect at all on my CoS. They don't even improve my CoS with the same amount as three paint cans. This means that they are either useless for colors which have already been maxed, or that you need an immense amount to actually see any difference.

Nadia said that they improved her result on Dark Blue a lot, but she has yet to max it, which is why I think they actually made a difference.

How do we find them?
These can be found in the loot window while coloring, you often find them in the amounts of one every time you do find some.

We need to gather at least 10 of these on the same Avatar and see how they improve the result. I suspect that we will still need 150 cans per field on maxed colors however, but that remains to see.

Besides the function of the Pigment Enhancers im wondering if there will be globals and hofs on colorig now. :yay:

Nope. You always get a return of 90% of the TT Value, and you will never get more than that, not even when you loot a Pigment Enhancer, as the return in PEDs will be lower when you do get one.

Well, mystery solved, I suppose. I gave a couple of Pigment Enhancers to a newbie who had yet to max the yellow paint can, and it appears as if the result is improved until he's able to successfully color yellow (100%) with 300 cans.

This means that the "Basic Pigment Enhancers" are only useful for those who have unlocked a color, but have yet to max it.

This is extremely bad news for the high-end paint cans, but I suppose we should still wait and see if there'll be anything else except for Basic Enhancers.

thanks for sharing :)

Thanks for that Sarah - I have only looted one so far and when I was colouring low end colours that I had already maxed. I just didn't use that many of them. I haven't tried it yet. If I loot and more and you need any more testing doing let me know.

Can't +rep you I need to spread it around 1st ;)

I have so far managed to loot 5 Basic Pigment Enhancers, and I have yet to see a difference. I wonder if we'll see others than Basic later on, or if the high-end paint cans will also come falling down from the sky?

What do you think? Because I seriously don't have a clue as to how I'm going to be able to color anything above Dark Blue now.

I have hope, since the it does have the word Basic in front of it, that Advanced ones will drop that will help with the higher end paints.

I hope something similar will happen as well. The thing though is, that these help with all of the paint cans ingame, it's just that they can only improve your CoS until the CoS have been maxed, ie 300 cans for the best CoS - and only if you have reached the required level.

Hmmm I wounder what happens if you don't even have a color unlock yet and put in one of those enhancers?

I still have not looted one :-/

Oh, it's a coloring amp.

I'm guessing that you can't reach a higher CoS than a certain amount if you haven't unlocked a color. It would however be interesting to find out.

Indeed, but not a very good one.

1pec tt? looks like residue for colouring like instead of using 300 cans of paint u can use 1 paint + 299 pigment thingies for the same result i'd guess

Well :grumble:...that *is* nice that they enhance the ability of less skilled colorers to color...

So you can color black whit just 1 can and 299 pigments :scratch2: It would be nice but maybe to optimistic

It only improves the CoS for those who have unlocked a color, but have yet to max it. So, that would be a no. I'm however waiting for something which would allow me to color Black without using 150 cans though, as that would cost over 50000 PED at todays market value, or 18000 PED if you count 120 PED per can.

I'm sure we can all agree that this isn't a very fair price for a Black field. The reason for the high price is because:
1. It requires 150 - 300 cans to color a field.
2. Black haven't dropped in years. (Just heard that someone had looted it in the last couple of months, the drop-rate is however not high enough to make it possible to color a field anytime soon. I have not yet heard of a drop after the VU Release however.)
3. The TT Value of Black was increased to 1 Ped, and the amount of paint cans ingame was reduced to 31%.

Hopefully the black paint will start to drop again. It still is a nice color but
5000$ for 1 field isn't a good price IMO

You need more cans now to color a field so is would be logic if the drop rate incraces also for expensive colors.

Yes, I suspect that you are not the best person to test a basic pigment enhancer. The tests by Nadie with dark blue showed remarkable improvement, with 1 (1 pec tt) pigment enhancer having more effect than 50 cans of dark blue (1000 pec tt). So they are quite valuable in the right situations.

Hmm. they look like fungus.
Maybe we can grow these in someones apartment and eat them, and get a nice effect?

Beside, iam TALL now ingame :D *brags*

All this talk of 300 cans!
I thought you just needed 20 cans to color a field, are you telling me I need 2 x 300 cans to paint my Basic-pattern Shirt?
I was hoping to get it colored pink but only have 67 cans.

I did need 20 cans to color perfectly before the Version Update, and yes, the amount has now changed to 100, 150, 200 or 300 cans, depending on the CoS. However, you do receive a return of 90% of the TT Value now, which means that it will most likely be cheaper to color lower-end colors than before. Just wait a few days and let the market stabilize, that's what I'm doing.

A friend som day ago told me that he did a zillion click for skilling coloring and havent find even 1 pigment ...
This make me notice , i myself , havent looted 1 in a while...
I said him wait a bit i have a coloring run to do...
I did my coloring run , and havent got 1 pigment , after something like 5k ped paint...

So , its just we do work on bad server , or those pigment did sudently disapear from the loot system ?

A friend of mine told me that the only 3 that he got (several days ago) were on clothes that he made himself, and before it reached the full TT status. He never got on loot window PEC + pigment.

I am not surprised that they seem to have barely loot anymore because when an item is new there is none in the system so they get looted a lot till a certain amount is in the system then they usually stop or huge slow down until they get used up then they loot again till hit that amount again. Seeing as they are pretty useless they never get used up so they don't loot anymore.

Add to that the fact they are glitched and can be used over and over. Every time you relog you get them back that you tried to use. So unless someone TT them they going stay in the system hehe

I hope they update and changed them in the next vu and add a stronger color enhancer non basic.

i did looted pigment on
- my clothe not full TT
- my clothe full TT (with pecs and ped)
- customer clothe not full TT
- customer clothe full TT ( pecs and ped)
- customer furniture
- customer crafting book...

i dont think how how the clothe , neither TT of the clothe had any importance... at least in past.

Are these designed to be 'consumed' on use? I thought that the bug was that it didn't show back up immediately in inventory. Am I understanding now that it should *not* reappear in inventory after relogging?

All items are limited to the amount. There can't drop more than x of a certain item, which means that these will only become more and more uncommon untill the bug has been fixed. It is a bug, as Mindark Support told me that it would be fixed shortly. I suppose that means the upcoming Version Update.
