You know what really helps me out in determining if MA is being way to greedy?
Well Any Decay on my gear i receive, i dont count. I only Count ammo burn.
Yeah i know i am not gonna break even. but i just dont count decay. If i count decay costs, well i have lost a whole bunch.
Guys that have been in the game a long time. i am pretty sure you know the rules on profiting in this game. that is Trading brings in the money.
If your the person dealing in the Mark-ups, odds are you might just make money.
Hunting, mining, and Crafting for TT value, will always put you at a loss. These professions are to create items for smart players to trade with.
Now one thing i dont see to often is depositing players making deposits just to trade, "There might be a few" but i just dont see it. For the most part the only people that Deposit to craft accept the mark-ups, the traders that dont deposit make the mark-ups. Some smart Crafters however make the mark-up with demand. ~~Rant~~
Now As Far as loot sucking, I can agree it does, but only to a point. The new teir items pretty much drop for hunters only, this market has been destroyed by lack of faith in the system and excessive cost due to failure and the instability of the falling prices,
This Market however When 1st implimented was a boon to anyone hunting at this time. So we got the new teir loot and we sold it to people for high prices, and we profited as hunters. But we refused to buy into the system we sold into. exploiting the traders offering the high buying prices. Well thats ironic that that would happen, but when we refused to buy the stuff we sold them, the market built up. and prices dropped. Sure MA adjusted the droprates for blazers, but it seems to be a good move on their part, becouse blazers are the real cost of most enhancer items.
moral of the story,
MA tried to offer us an extra market to add to the loot we receive, and this market added is alot to do with Mark-up based profits, over TT value.
Now Why am I talking about The Enhancer market in a Loot Sucks thread?
Simple. The Enhancer market relied on the players to catch the mark-ups and stablize. and the other players to sell those items for the increase mark-up, And for those same players to later rebuy those items sold to upgrade certain items.
Loot Sucks, but the economics are also a little shotty too. Is this a failure by MA? Yes. they should have given more information on how the system works. Is it Player failure? Yes. The players should have known that MA does not like giving information on game dynamics to the player, so the smart players can figure it out, and reap the rewards.
Ever wonder why i teir'ed up an SGA opalo and pixie? I followed the money trail. Low level mobs dropped low level teir items, I worked to short sell the market all the way down to this current point. now the market is too low to profit on. Now i can Buy the best SIB weapon for my level and skill up again.
To all those players hunting higher level things when the teir I componet market was 1000% and blazers were .50 per. you failed. imo. You have to go through the lowest level items 1st before useing the higher level items.
Same with crafting enhancers. You had to grind out the 1st 4 BP's to find the unknown BP's.
Now also one major hit is also the houseing market. Alot of players keep dropping out thinking MA is just a bunch of theives, I love MA. they are so straghtforward. "We take the decay" "Not All the Decay" and we support MA in this for the most part, most of us do not mind that they take the decay. they need their fair share too. But the housing market, if people do not deposit in order to buy a home, they wont be buying furnature, for the homes. A good portion of the hunter loot deals in luxury items ranging from Furnature, to clothing.
Mining on the other hand Deals with weapons, armor, and High Mark-up Socialist backbone items. (Nexus, Sweatstuff, Growth Molicules)
Now Good mobs to hunt that have the highest amount of known globals are the mobs that have ties to Mining materials. Robots, Argosnauts, (all i know so far).
This game is fine how it is. the losses Blow ass at times, but if your here for fun feed the economy, if your here for money, Trade. Or craft wisely.
I know the differnce. but i still like the profession aspect of hunting and mining. In the long run of hunting and mining your crafting skill will go up. Crafting and trading can bring you profit in the long run. Not all Crafting, but smart crafting with trading.
Hey Hugh, i like your spreadsheet, but if you could modify it to show the Returns from the hunt minus the decay factors, along with the decay factors i could make a little more sense of it. unless i completely missed it.
And To all that survived my Ranting. Good Loots to you all! Luck still is in the loot factor!
