Male or Female? (maybe shemale? :D )

So, what YOU think/know about this one?. :)

My avatar is hot and I have no interest in following man booty around.

I would think of all the M playing F avatars <1% of them are playing F for "other reasons". the ones who say its due to the armor prices could not really know that for the most part and/or just don't know how to reply to the question or feel shame for some dumb ass reason.

Even though my roommate told me that armor for a female avatar is far cheaper in some cases than the male counterpart as I was making Toggle, I still chose male. Mainly it was because I have made female characters in other games before and its really awkward when someone thinks your a girl. Some men would prey on this behavior and lead people on and try to leech money from them, but I'm not like that.

On a semi-related side note, why even bother having different genders for armor? Sure it might make a bit more sense from a realism perspective, but we're playing a video game that takes place on another planet with alien species, I'm sure if the human race can manage instant teleportation they can figure out how to make spandex armor. Changing it to one-size-fits-all armor would even out the market, and make certain armor pieces more readily available to the other gender more often.

Which means people have to deposit less for the more expensive armour. Think about who developed the game :silly2:

Well, my first avatar, Dreznin Inifus Drakani, was male. Back in the time in which I was playing him (2002-2005), the difference in prices between M and F gear was massive (anyone else remember TT+10 Nemesis (F) parts?). For that reason, I started playing female avatars in all MMOs and that is why I chose one when I came back and no longer had Inifus. Granted, the market has changed and now, as was said earlier, the upper end and specialist gear is now roughly equal for both genders. Still, unless I could have Inifus back how he was in old days, I wouldn't trade Snow for anything.

I find that although I have to deal with the occasional person thinking I'm F IRL, the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. It seems that many guys actually carry over some real world manners into MMOs, being more respectful to those playing F avatars. I never try to lead someone one into thinking I'm F IRL, I will always set them strait if they try anything, but I like the fact that it seems to let me avoid a lot of the bad attitude that seems to float around the internet. Heck, as for the view - I usually play on my laptop, in bed, next to my girlfriend - I have a better view if I turn my head to the right and look at her. Besides - I still hunt FPS style, it is how I started and how I will always play... none of that auto-aim crutch for me.

I agree with that, armor wouldn't make sense anyhow since it is composed of rigid components that fit... certain regions... that would be incompatible. On the other hand, I think that there shouldn't be limitations on clothing - bring on the EU cross dressers.

Look at that Ass! Far better then square male digital ass if I MUST stare at one 75% of the time in game.

Need I say more?

Seriously I came from games that let you have multiple ava's so I learned to play to the inherrent strengths of sex's in those games. Females made better casters usually and males made better tanks. Never gave the cost of gear a thought after first seeing the crackhead pricing in here. It was very CLEAR I was not ever owning decent stuff from day one.

I started with a guy, cause I'm a guy, then I stopped using that Avatar, started over with a female due to the costs of armor. Eventually I went back to my original male avatar for various reasons (including the fact that I'd want to market myself as me in RT if the music part ever takes off) and I still use him.
Wish I'd never got rid of my F avatar now though... armor costs alone make it not worth being male, plus looking at a perky female ass beats looking at a guys builders crack all day...

I didn't even think of that ... but yeah, I've always preferred the female's play styles and weapons as well. The male characters always feel sluggish and clumsy on the rare occasion I do try one.

Boobs = Free Stuff! LOL Yeah you can get a different experience for sure playing a female avatar. I`ve watched it for years no matter what the sex of the person controlling it. And even when people know they can still be treated a bit softer. I`m sure there is a percentage that do it to take advantage of these things.

But I`ve thought about if I had made a female avatar why I would. It would have been to be able to control a strong female type character more than anything. An independent wopman that can get out there, kick ass and succeed with the best of them. There is nothing like a strong, smart independent woman!

I have a male avatar, but if I would create a female avatar the main reason would have been that it feels more comfortable looking at a females backside avatar in third person view than a males :p

thats true !!

So all males who have male avis are gay while they look on males backsides??? :D

Oh.. one more reason to play female...

Titties ALWAYS goes great with Beer!

Old old old topic ...

Anyways, of course nerdy gamers take the chance when they finaly manage to get a woman with big boobs and a firm ass - by themselves, which they can dress and undress and watch from all sides when they run ... and still use excuses like 'the armor is cheaper' :D

(my excuse is .. well, I'm a woman, I don't need an excuse :D)

 struth lol - the questionable (about being honest with themselves) ones are those that say they are hard core fps - just in a game to shoot stuff in first person-as well..the claim that female avis are created because the view is better that way is shot to hell

I started the game with a male avatar who kinda looked like the Hood from Thunderbirds. Less than 30 minutes into the game, my mentor told me the cheaper armour advantage of being female. Considering I hadn't skilled anything yet, it made sense to re-make my character for future benefits.

...and thats the story of how I became a woman. :D

(IN GAME, before anyone says anything!)

Damn, you are jsut too fast :D

My philosophy(or however it is spelled in english) is just to have a break when I play, so i prefer being a female avatar IG, to have a real change.

Besides, female avatars are sexier than male ones :D (before anyone says I'm a perv, I'm not a perverted person, I just know what I like and am not ashamed of telling it, I like women better than men, sorry guys :D )
ok, I remember a guy did a really ugly female avi and used to dance/sexy stance in front of male avis just to provoke them
But that was just a joke.

Female avi's ftw!!!

Lez. :wtg:

This question pops up fairly regularly, and I will offer my longstanding opinion in this regard :

Men make female avatars to satisfy a need that is not available in real life - a woman that will obey your every whim without question ;)

Women don't need to make male avatars because that need is satisfied easily in real life - thay have us to jump at their beck-and-call ;)

Well of course, once I knew I was going to be female, I did put some care into optimizing my avatar's figure ;)

But seriously, most of the my Entropian acquaintances whom I also know in real life, were introduced to the game by watching over someone's shoulder for a couple of months at least. It takes a couple of months to talk a friend into playing EU. There just isn't that first-glance appeal. This means we come into the game knowing about sweating, sweat prices, mentors, forum, TPs, auction houses, markup, and armor prices. (collateral skilling on the other hand was big news to me one day in Sweat Camp  )

No male avatars? But they don't care that you're a male IRL?
Correct. Again, I'm used to approaching a roleplay game from the point of view that by playing it I am portraying a person other than myself (usually a person I "wrote", like writing a story). The whole concept of virtual identity as extension of physical identity is still novel to me. Also, knowing what kind of society I'd be in before I started playing the game was a very comfortable feeling.

I made a girl avatar one time in a MMO and within five minutes some guy hit on me that was it for me no more girl avatars. As for the armor well if it cost more then it sells for more too.
Well and that does happen a lot in certain game(s) which compete with EU. Yet another reason for me to get my new custom terminal so I can get back in-game... :tapfoot: not to mention me spending less time posting here

(Similar posts past 5 years...many.)

My regular answer, as ever, is that I play in third person view.

I go about my in-game business for many hours at a time. My avatar is center of screen 99%. What would I prefer to look at - a male butt or a female butt?

EDIT So I actually read the replies and it's what I said over and over. Sorry for bumping with old news. /EDIT

When I asked one friend with a male avatar why he quit EU, his reply included "and I couldn't stand the view, especially the swimming animation". I had to lol.

lolol :laugh::laugh::laugh:

Lets face it, at parties in apartments, the clothes would probably not come off as much if the avatar was of the same sex as the player... ;)

Of course, the armor thing is the main reason I did it... read about it here in the forums.

that's just gay

that's just gay

It's actually the reverse of gay. And who calls things gay as an insult anymore? -rep for uninteresting post and for being stupid.

As I understand it, homophobic discomfort viewing the male body is a sure sign of being in the closet.

Also, this is an MMO. Last I heard, the word 'gay' no longer refers to sexuality in MMO parlance, but rather either to broken software or to losing in PvP. Could be just in the games I've played though.

i have a male avatar but when in 3rd person i don't watch my ass all the time. usually i watch the surroundings :wise: all those folks who watch their fem avi asses should errr take some action asap when they really need to watch F pixel asses :silly2:

As Jimmy touched on, running a female avatar really made me realise just what a$$holes men can be to woman sometimes - but it's always fun to see how fast they recoil and hide back in there shell when you tell them ur male irl.

A friend of mine used to do that even though she actually was a female irl, more effective than mace and a taser together. :)
