Should hofs/globals be turned off in gateway?

So someone just got a 427PED HoF at the gateway (Berycled Puny)...


Shouldnt HoFs and globals be turned off there? :scratch2:
 
Well it finally happened....

Well it finally happened people. The Lady Venom killed a creature (Berycled Puny) with a value of 427 PED! A record has been added to the Hall of Fame. What on earth is going on!? I just saw that. Something in the loot system is stuffed up. I knew that the noob island was linked to the main loot pool as when we had the free travel I laid a few bombs down with a tt finder and got a 36ped claim but a hunting loot that size off a puny? Maybe a 50ped one every now and again would be ok but this is getting ridiculous.

Though grats to the noob that got it. Great intro into the game
 
What would the chances be of digging it all up with that (L) gear?
I thought they only get one then couldn't replace it?
 
I was really hoping that would be impossible. I bet the place is gonna be flooded by fake/double accounts trying to do the same to get free ped.

Well not a problem if noob hits tower. You don´t need a excavator for towers :)

No, it just proves not all loot is avatar based, as MA's stated, some loots do not come from the loot pool, this seems like one of those loots.
 
Lets wait for the first gateway tower ;)
 
I´m not surprised at all, and was in fact wondering the other day if this hade happened allready or not. These kinds of "it could happen to you" hofs has occurd as long as I can remeber. Loot can still be avatar based just that a small part of everyones losses goes to these promotional-loots to get the "word of mouth" going.

I can just picture the support case now. "Hello, I have a 11,000 ped lyst tower in the gateway but went through the teleporter and can't figure out how to get back. Please help!"

Leave it as it is, glad to see at least one newbie got some of my losses. ;)

Anyone having a problem with this, should sell out now and get a real life job.
Then this game is not for you. :D

While the Gateway is a micro-version of the EU-economy it is not impossible to HoF or global in either profession there. This was tested before Calypso Gateway was launched. So yes, it is working as it is supposed to. Of course, It is as you can imagine not a very common occurrence.

Well who exactly is "fueling" this loot pool then? Us? FPC gives out free weapons/ammo/finders/etc. so people who've never worked a day in EU or deposited a dime can pull $45 U.S. from the rest of us? Or is this money coming from the company itself (who takes it from the rest of us)?

No Mekoides, the funny twisted side of this story is she can't even withdraw her winnings :laugh:. She would need another hof of 573ped :D before she could. Well put Menace.
 
The only reason I object to "Big Loots" in the gateway is that even though some people will get big loots there they may quit and the money is lost.

Only of my work collegues joined the game last month and did the first few missions and quit as the game was to slow for him. He had some loot when he quit (not sure what exacally) and it is lost.

I am all for new players getting these nice boosts but at least wait until they have finished the gateway and start playing for real.

That would mean than, loot is avatar based and she made a 50$ deposit?

Even in mining? Then the globaling/hofing newbie would have quite a hard time getting enough gateway extractors to extract it all :laugh:

When your account has been inactive for 1 year and 6months, MA liquidise all your assests back into the loot pool. Only thing is if you have uber gear or pre-gold stuff it won't pop back out :(. So loot even though stuck in a players account eventually makes it back into the community. So it is not completely lost.

I'd say the Bery Puny was nothing to mention at all, lol. The ratio on above is far more worse than that.

And there is no such thing as avatar based loot. That's just another PR chitchat to avoid the casino discussion.

The only thing being avatar based is the loot window coz'..well..its the avatar that loots it. Nobody has an algorithm that is strong enough to appear random yet being based on variables tied to one root.

As we all know, the most obvious thing is usually what is correct. Every mob has a loot value range tied to the market value of its loot table. A random multiplier gets assigned and voila there is your loot window.

Anyone who wants to argue about that explain first why Atrox OA loots 5-10 cans of Burgundy -only- on a regular basis.

Are you sure I thought all skills were removed and all loot was TT and ped value put on ped card?
