Yesterday I got a 157 global lyst. It was on the side of a mountain too steep to climb. I tried to TP to the top of the mountain but the area was unavailable. After trying for a while to walk around it I thought it was not possible to get. I gave up, played a round of golf, and thought about the situation. On my way back from the course the lost global was still eating away at me. Then I had an idea. When I got home I quickly logged on and bought a couple wally shelving units from the auction. I went to the claim and it worked!

Here's how to get the "impossible" mountain claims. Get 2 wally shelves. Place one unit against the mountain, rotate it about 45 degrees. Climb up the shelf until you get towards the top. Now place the second shelf next to you, rotated 45 degrees the other way (it helps to have the top of the shelf pointing downward). Climb up the shelf. Now pick up the first shelf then repeat the process.

My apologies if someone else already posted this, I'm sure I'm not the first to think of doing this, but I wanted to post it to help out anyone else that might get stuck in a similar situation.

I will post a screenshot when I figure out how. lol.

lol nice thinking.

To post a screenshot, upload the image to the EF gallery, then use the MY Pics [open] link that's available under the smilies when you're posting in a thread. From there, you can select which of your uploaded pics to post with a simple cilck. :)

Sweet idea! Way to go, and +rep to ya. I'll have to remember that one... I think I forsee the shelving units to go through a sudden jump in price. :D

Thanks! thanks for the screenshot instructions. :)

One word: creative

I'm sure what to do next time i end up in a simular situation :p

You seriously get some +rep for that one from me.

Most would come her complaining about that, but you...

/em respect

I try to avoid mountain mining, but I left a small one this weekend :( thanks for the tip.

Gratz:yay: and what a brilliant idea, I would never had thought of that. I had a claim on on a slope and gave up on it, luckily it was only a small (v), i would have screamed if it had been a global. Now I know for future though, thanks to you.

And once again GRATZ :wtg:

As Mr Eastwood said, "Improvise, Adapt, Overcome".
Rather than complain, you found an elegant solution.
+rep and much respect. :wtg:

+rep, not often you see people thinking creatively

That brings a whole new meaning to mountain climbing gear. Now I'm going to have to try it with other things and see if it works too

I got one word for that Brilliant. Now thats problem solving in action.

Great idea ! +rep !

couple of questions...
how much do the wally shelve weigh

MA how about some lightweight climbing gear!!!:yay:

Wally Shelving weighs 12.7 kg. I took 4 with me originally but found I really only needed 2, although having a couple extra comes in handy if you fall. ;) I fell a few times in determining the best placement, if you stick with the 45 degree angle and placing the second shelf opposite the first, you should be fine. There are probably other objects that would work too, maybe something cheaper like boards. Next time I'm low on peds I'll probably do some experimentation.

Thanks everyone for the + reps, much appreciated!

+rep

BTW I still owe you a ride on my beacon. ;)

+ Rep for your post and Great idea.

Have never given up from a Global/Hof claim because of that, but left behind a couple of claims in the same situation... One of them ( i remember ) was inside a house in Treasure Island. A person could enter the house, but the claim was not available to be extracted.
