Göteborg, Sweden - January 5, 2010 - First Planet Company, developer and publisher of the largest real cash economy MMORPG, announced today the results of the public auction of the Crystal Palace Space Station. The winning bidder acquired the property for a record-breaking $330,000.00 USD. The previous record was confirmed in the Guinness World Records book in 2008. It featured another piece of property in the Planet Calypso game bought for $100,000 USD as "The Most Expensive Virtual Object."

"This is a stunning investment opportunity, and I have complete faith I will recover what I spent relatively quickly," said Erik Novak, the winner of the Crystal Palace auction. "To say Planet Calypso has changed my life would be an understatement. I have even found the love of my life in the game, and now we live together in real life. I feel very confident about purchasing the Crystal Palace Space Station as I have already invested years of time, dedication, work, hope and love. All of those things have already paid off more than I could have ever imagined. With the new game engine, new features and almost ten years of experience Planet Calypso is one of the few safe investments in this economy."

This auction was for Crystal Palace, an extremely popular hunting destination that is in orbit around Planet Calypso. It will now be privately operated by Erik Novak, the person behind the "Buzz Erik Lightyear" avatar. This is the third major property opportunity offered on Planet Calypso. The first auction, for Treasure Island, took place in 2004 and sold for $26,500 USD. Australian gamer, David "Deathifier" Storey recouped his full investment within 12 months and has continued to make a profit. The second, and much larger, auction took place in 2005 when American gamer Jon "NEVERDIE" Jacobs bought a Virtual Space Resort for an unheard of $100,000 USD. Due to his virtual nightclub and the profits obtained from mining/hunting rights and property sales on the resort, Mr. Jacob's fortune was valued at $1.5 million USD in 2006. Operating profitably from day one the Club NEVERDIE Resort brought in over $50,000 USD in mining/hunting rights alone in its first five months.

First Planet Company is the developer and publisher of Planet Calypso, the largest real cash economy MMORPG in the world. Players have the ability to participate in a unique virtual economy where they only pay for the game when they play. Its unique real cash economy uses a virtual currency which has a fixed exchange rate with the US dollar. This allows players to deposit and withdraw real money during their adventures on Calypso. It is also the first MMORPG to use CryTek's stunning CryENGINE 2 for amazing graphics and physics.

I think we could win the title of "most money consuming rpg" aswell! There is no such thing as bad publicity... :D

(You can play for free! I know it is being done)

better late then never i guess

I've downloaded it 459 times now. Watching it download isn't as much fun as playing other games though. :)

but you didnt have to pay for downloading it ;)

I have only had problems so I have had to do a complete reinstall... 2-3 times I think :silly2:

This release actually went out on Jan.5. This was just an update to the website.

Good to hear. Luckily it was a small mistake in the automated news feed. I was a bit afraid that it was a hopeless attempt to attract more attention because the initial news about the CP sale didn't meet MA/FPCs PR expectations.

Actually, considering we aren't completely flooded with newcomers still, I guess the effects of these "World Records" get less and less.

Dear MA/FPC, the best advertisement is "mouth to mouth".
As long as the current playerbase mostly doesn't dare trying to persuade family/friends to give EU a try, you miss out on a lot of free advertising.

If you wonder why the playerbase mostly doesn't dare, this means you still haven't got it...
For the moment I can assure you that EU is developing more and more in a way that active players won't recommend it to friends/family.

What Kemp said.

The amounts set by these world records are still only a fraction of the potential if MA would do more to ensure this would be the "most entertaining" universe.

"Most Expensive Virtual Object Is Smashed"

thot is was finally the egg lol

What he said!
ATM I have no way to depo... and I'm getting more and more respect for players that don't depo at all...
I think when you can depo, the game is much more attracting... But you can not tell new people that... this is I think the first reason that they bail out! Why should they depo, when the game can be downloaded for free! :scratch2::ahh:

I think they should make Entropia available in gamestores, for 20 USD or something, with a pre-paid depo card included :D

I could see that working actually. Not sure how much it would cost ma to do such a task.

releases like this show just the "capabilities" of big investors to win after they bougt Treasure Island,Asteroid or Space Station. But all this didnt happend without huge deposits;)

How about a releas about the the avarage player? Hunter,Miner,Crafter,Hairstylist or whatever, why MA/FPC dont release a average income of this professions? And not Landmanagement only.

The case is MA/FPC just show the golden side of EU-life with such Promotions.
Every noob with 0 skills can manage a LA and getting revenues to cover the costs of a LA without much effort.
But they dont tell how much effort u have if u start a hunting or mining profession for players they dont have the RL Pokets full of money.

Maybe they should do some Promotions about how "simple" it is to make your money with the regular prefessions in this game

I'm not entirely sure that's a good record to have >_>

Wont cost MA a dam thing..It will come form our ped cards...as everything else does and will continue to do. We now prepay for all our features.

Alot stuff was reported on german Internet-magazines about the CP sale, but no wonder ppl thought this game were NOT based on diffrent things like Hunting,Mining or Crafing, they thought this game is based on Landmanagement only:rolleyes:

How can MA reach the regular player? With such short videoclips?

Oh wait i think i know how;) with pissing off current players, which spread bad posts about the loots or returns into diffrent Game-Forums:yay: thats the way it goes:ahh:

And then also make the game available through Steam Network with two download options:

Free - Game only
20USD - Game + 200PED

:silly2:

costs money to have your stuff available on steam unless if it's a mod to a game which you bought from steam or it's a non-prophet free to play which entropia would not be labelled as. by free to play, if there's the potential to make money, then steam won't put it up there for free so quickly....

Disappointed the BBC never picked it up. :(

I thought so aswell :(

When is the egg gonna open, we want action!

Wasn't there a thread somewhere with thoughts of what would happen when it breaks?

I have to find it, it was loads of fun...

oh and by the way..
What kemp said..

Many of my friends quit EU in lack of loot, didnt whant to depo
300 ped every time they want to hunt. They got some descent guns (imp2870, adj hero) but was unable to even get close to break even. Lack of skills, mabye but back the there wasint any limited items.

Every year goes, its harder to break even and everyone wait for the "big one". Its to mutch casino over EU for normal paid pepole to join EU and enjoy it.

I dont think its right way to make EU large whit more continents and plantes, dont make the game bigger, make it more intresting for normal players, quests free limited items and so on.
