You do know what "mitigating" means, right? It applies both pre- and post-facto.

Everything we have been talking about has been a post-pirating idea until you tried to use a comparative of a pre-pirating loss prevention method to somehow make your post-pirating idea more legitimate. It wasn't a good comparison either BTW.

Oh, I never saw the release notes confirming that your, or any other suggestion, would be implemented, my bad. You may be surprised that your opinion is not automatically a fact.

You maybe even more surprised that it is ;)

Indeed, it makes no sense that time spent and ped lost is only considered to be a factor for pirates.

Wah

Why? I don't desire the end of this idea, you do. If it bothers you, walk away. Telling me to shut up won't do it, I'm afraid.

You said I told you "to shut up" I didn't.

So, ignore away.... let me continue on my fool's mission unhindered. Never did expect the support of pirates on this one, much like the single chicken doesn't expect the support of the foxes when choosing lunch.

Not sure if you noticed but your not getting support from anyone.

Did I mention, I can smell the fear from here :D

I don't understand some of your comments, It's like your having another conversation that we only get to hear half of????

Voted "I don't care" because I really don't anymore, it is what it is and all these posts are probably ignored by MA anyways. They seem to do what they want and stick to it without much input from players perspective.

I counter space by not ever carrying lootables in space ever. If I should carry I use a highlly upgraded Mothership with Warp to transport and pay for their services. I'd rather pay someone honest enough to sell a service then some random pirate take it from me without asking.

I suggest others do the same it does save in frustration. If you take stackables in space you have been warned you can be pirated, there is nothing to complain about. MA will not change space they seem to like it AS IS BTW.

I just let the pirates shoot me down, I loose PEC's they loose PED's, so I see that as fair play against pirates :p

No to piracy. No to thieves. We want free pirate routes between planets.

Straw man response. In fact, I raised the issue of pre-pirating mitigation as a response to your claim that there is no scope for mitigation in the "grain" of the space design. I do not need to "try to make my idea legitimate", I believe they are legitimate ideas as they stand. Clearly, you differ in opinion, but that is all you have.

Nice try, but all you do is reveal your astounding arrogance.

Beyond surprised. I'm astounded.

Exactly. The definitive PKer fallback position when they run out of arguments.

You said I told you "to shut up" I didn't.

When you turned "we" into "YOU", that became an attempt to direct ME away from further comment. Can't be bothered to quote that part again, read back.

Yeah, most want absolutely safe routes, with zero scope for either of our suggestions. Poll says more are reading than speaking. Is it about being popular, or is it about finding a real equitable position?

You had me at "I don't understand...."

My arrogance doesn't need to be revealed....it proceeds me into every conversation.

Your idea is still not appealing to anyone "obviously", accept it. Offer a better solution or try defending for first.

I never claimed there was no room for loss prevention in space. Your idea is not going to happen because it goes against the idea that space is built on. I feel like I'm repeating myself here but you don't seem to want to face the facts.

I do not need to "try to make my idea legitimate", I believe they are legitimate ideas as they stand.

Your ideas are not standing...they are six feet under the ground already LOL

Clearly, you differ in opinion, but that is all you have.

That and the fact that "my idea is better than your idea"

I never claimed there was no room for loss prevention in space.....
Mitigating the loss is completely contradictory to the system that has already been put into place....
How do you guys put it? Oh yes...... "Boom! Headshot!"

How do you guys put it? Oh yes...... "Boom! Headshot!"

OMG what's wrong with you? We already talked about this.

I never claimed there was no room for loss prevention in space.

I was talking about pre-pirating...as in before you go into pvp.

Mitigating the loss is completely contradictory to the system that has already been put into place

Here I am talking about post-pirating..as in after you have been looted.

Not the same thing!

It's called comprehension. Terrible affliction, hope you never get it.

No i think you obviously have a lack of comprehension hence my last post. All you do is try to twist my words so you can argue, you could care less about the issue at hand. What a waste of time it has been talking to you here I thought you wanted to offer real solutions.

hmm...I wonder which part of my last sentence you'll chose to quote. LOL

edit: Stop taking things out of context to, you are doing it on purpose.

“Whatever you do,” cried Brer Rabbit, “Don’t throw me into the briar patch”.

Relax Xane, go... be a Marshall. Good luck.

Thank you sir, but I'll rely on my skills, luck's never there when you need.

Please don't tell me you see your self as being bullied and having outsmarted us bully's.

I think Mindark will not disable PVP in Space. Only one reason can i think for Mindark change mind. We can think about planet PVP. There is people do not like PVP but enter in PVP4 all time. Why? I do not that very much times but perhaps people can find mobs with nice loot only in PVP or mining ores you cannot find in more secure zones.

Perhaps Mindark can split 3 space zones, PVP lootable, PVP not lootable, and secure (red and green or orange zones). We need a reason for people want enter volunteer inside PVP lootable. Perhaps more nice loot in cosmic mobs or start create an asteroid mining system with rare ores and more rares and useful Blueprints uber peope can use. Profit and.... ah, the risk.

Gretings.

Not at all. I do, however, see a bunch of rabbits trying to convince us that throwing them in the briar patch will be a good solution ;)

Nice stealth edit there, btw. You that keen on having the last word?

I think EU has something here. Maybe the casinos can do something similar. Instead of a no smoking section they can have a lootable pvp section where you can beat up other guests and take there money. Imagine the people lining up for that?

What happened to me?!?!? Someone robbed me. Oh, you walked into the lootable area, you should be more carefull grandma.

I skipeed a bunch of this thread to reply to this post, I'm going back to read it i swear. This was an eminently quotable extension of the common casino metaphor:

MA is trying to get out of running a casino. They want to run "vegas". And you very well may get robbed of your "stackables" walking between casinos at the wrong hour...

Maybe what we need are some pimps to keep the streets clean around here.

Edit: I could have skipped the rest of the thread :smash:

Because there needs to (is supposed to) be limitations to cross-planet trading/movement.

There is no limit of how much stackables you're allowed to bring on a mothership. And, it's probably pretty safe if you go unadvertised at an unexpected time. It's just costly though, if you're hiring a mothership just because you want to go between two planets and you don't want to spend 1-2 hours doing so and/or getting shot down by pirates x times. I mean shot down, not necessarily looted, it's not fun getting back to revival, having to wait x (10?) seconds not being able to move without any message, then spending half a minute trying to find a patch in hangar where you can spawn your vehicle, and then start all over again, from the middle of a pirate camped zone.

It would be a different experience if if a pirate shot you down, they would be able to loot a "ghost" while I would be able to move on as if nothing happened except a line "You have been looted by xxx".

If the purpose really was to limit trading/movement in space (at all cost), one can wonder why the blueprint for welding wire include materials that are only found on Rocktropia and Arkadia (ie, typically require materials from three planets at same time) and not some generic resources like oil and belkar or even planet-specific blueprints (with different ingredients depending on where you got the BP). Or why they even bothered to implement welding wire at all.

If so, I'd rather see the teleporter allowing no items whatsoever, except PED... else there would still be unlimited trading with no risk between planets, which is what I believe lootable space is there to prevent (or at least make harder).

I think it's easier you spell it right out that you don't want people to be able to go between planets. That if you want to move between planets you can aswell create alts on different planets.

The gear I use when I travel I want to keep (well at least until really need to sell it, like if I quit). I haven't spent years trying to tier-grind my rifle just to have it as merchandise. And I don't think the market for it would be big, especially on new planets with (logically) less average skills.

I voted yes. I was very disappointed when it was announced that space was lootable pvp. I know it's not personal, but regardless, the few times I have been shot down in a pvp area (not lootable - in over 5 years of being a participant I have NEVER bought nor used a toxic shot) I find it offensive. I experience it as some jackass interfering with my enjoyment of the universe just to get his/her rocks off for whatever reason. Unfortunately, that interference is sanctioned by MA regardless of the EULA due to creating pvp capabilities. I don't want anything to do with all of this and I predominantly conduct my activities in ways that reflect such. There are areas of Amethera I have risked it (former ripper snappers outside of Sakura) but they are very rare occasions.

We've heard for years that if you don't like pvp, then don't go to pvp areas. Up until space, that was easy to do. The problem is that for individuals, such as myself, that find pvp offensive and want nothing to do with it, not going into pvp is not an option if we want to go visit and explore other planets. Forget the whole trading crap. Realistically, how many active traders are there in comparison to the rest of the community?

I can understand that making pvp free routes of travel through space could hinder business for any MS owners and I think there is the key that could solve this. If I knew I could visit another planet by taking a MS 100% pvp free (Minimal risk is not acceptable. I want 100% guaranteed.), I would be much happier. I wouldn't even care if they charged more for the service. With how much of an emotional disruption being shot down would be for me, the price would be worth it.

Throw as much reason at this as you want. But don't expect to get anywhere with it. These are personal feelings, which by nature are irrational. You can't reason with how someone feels about something. It is what it is.

I actually see this as a possible detriment to the PPs from the flip side. Caly will always be home. I would always come back. But if I had safe passage, the PPs would be able to at least occasionally benefit from the decay I create on their planet while I am on a virtual vacation.

Hugs,
Aliana

You can :)

There is an intentional feature ( according to this post - 100% safe fights MA Reply. ) which ensures 100% safe travel via a mothership.

Mothership Normandie warps across the universe on scheduled or VIP flights - you can see the times here.
